Work Text:
Angela; eager to meet Randall over the hillside just by the Ascot home for a picnic is walking along the road through town. It was quiet. The sun had started to set already, the air was cool, the breeze soft on Angela’s fair face. She smiles thinking about what Randall had in store for her. She admired Randall’s enthusiasm in even the simplest things. She imagined an array of food that would be fit for a party, yet the picnic was to only consist of the two of them. She laughs softly at the thought of it. “Oh Randall. I can’t wait to see what it is you have waiting for me.” She says softly to herself. She hears the running of the river that ran past Randall’s house, meaning that she was getting close. She could feel her face start to get warm. She smiles, running up the hill to see Randall standing atop it with an array of things scattered on a blanket that was haphazardly splayed across the ground in true Randall fashion, it was askew with folds in every direction, that didn’t matter to Angela though. What mattered is that she was on a date with her girlfriend.
“Randall! Dear; you have prepared quite the picnic.” Angela says.
“Angela! You have arrived! I’ve been waiting for hours, you know, any longer I would have thought you were ambushed by a wild animal on your way here!” Randall says, her expression quite serious.
“Of course not Randall! I’m perfectly fine, you know. I could handle a wild animal.” Angela can’t help but laugh at Randall’s imagination. “Besides, we agreed to this time, you’re the foolish one that does everything 5 hours earlier than you are supposed to.”
“If you did get into a fight with a wild animal I’d save you with my exceptional fencing skills, then I’d be your hero.” Randall says triumphantly, before adding, “I’ll have you know a woman has to prepare Angela! It’s very important!” Randall moves her arms in a dramatic motion.
“If you say so Randall.” Angela giggles.
“Don’t laugh! You know it’s true!” Randall blushes.
“You’re the foolish one.” Angela quips.
“I’d argue I’m eccentric.” Randall smirks proudly.
“Sure.” Angela laughs. “You know we don’t need quite this much food right?” She looks down at the picnic blanket; she sees jam sandwiches, far too many at that, a pot of tea of course, you can’t have a picnic without tea, least in Randall’s eyes. There also appears to be various fruits; melon, strawberries and blackberries.
“I need all the food in the world for the only girl in the world that has my heart!” Randall says with a flourish.
“This all looks lovely.” Angela says with a smile blushing at Randall’s words; she was always into theatrics.
“Indeed it is! I carefully picked out all of your favorite things.” Randall says as the two of them sit down to enjoy their food.
“You always pay such close attention to the things I like.” Angela says, she looks into Randall’s emerald colored eyes; her face was radiant, smiling ear to ear.
“Of course Angela!” Randall gets closer to her, “anything for you.” She says, picking up a blackberry and carefully trying to feed it to Angela; but as she does so she drops it a few dozen times. Angela can’t help but laugh as Randall loses a battle with a fruit.
Randall also laughs, she snorts. “They make it look a lot easier in the movies, you know.”
Angela giggles, “oh, I’m sure they do Randall.” She says.

A moment of peace falls over the girls as they snack on their fruit, drink tea and eat sandwiches, a moment of bliss that neither of them want to end, the cool breeze blowing softly thru the trees, making a pleasant sound. The birds in the distance chirping, a chipmunk nearby, stalking their food, chattering as if it was planning to steal from them. A perfect picnic.
.
The sun began its journey down; finally setting for the night, the sky a deep orange, giving the area a soft glow.
Randall looks into Angela’s hazel colored eyes; she smiles inching closer to her face. She admires Angela; her soft smile, the red sweater that she always wore as pretty as ever on her, it complimented her blonde hair.
“Angela, you look positively breathtaking tonight.” Randall says.
Angela giggles, “as do you Randall, your skirt is really cute today.” She smiles.
Randall smiles, her dimples standing out as she did so. Her face reddened with blush the more that she looked at Angela.
She inches closer to Angela; their noses nearly touching. The more she admired Angela, the more that she wanted to kiss her. Randall lets her thoughts take over her actions, carefully, she cups Angela’s cheek in her hand. As she does so, Angela’s face too becomes red with blush.
“Angela.” Randall says softly, “you’re so pretty…” She presses her lips to Angela's, giving her a soft yet passionate kiss.
Angela melts into Randall’s arms, softly she kisses her back, not being able to help the soft giggle that escaped with each kiss.
“Randall.” She says, still giggling, “I love you.”
“I love you too Angela!” Randall shouts rather enthusiastically, as if she wanted the entire neighborhood to know she is dating Angela.
