Work Text:
They stood there, not a single word between them. The smile on the older man's face was answer enough. There was a tear on the edge of his eye. A tear that never fell, it stood there resolutely, never breaking. A reflection of who had shed it.
If the boy did notice it however, he did not speak. There was a silent agreement not to speak. So much could be said through unspoken words, after all.
His own hand lands on the one on his shoulder. Their firm grip softening, and a small hum escaping their lips. A silent comfort
The man just kept smiling. The wrinkles around his eyes showing themselves.
"Would you tell me about the stars, my dear boy?" That was all he had said; The boy was happy to deliver. They didn't need to talk speak about it, now.
A night spent alone with the stars, away from it all. Life goes on, after all.
It was on nights like this, that the boy remembered. Yes, the man was a human too.
He'd almost forgotten.
