The moon reflects the beautiful eyes that shall not wake and the very features that could only breathe softly. The hair that glows as if it was light itself. A hand wraps around the soft doll cushion as Riku held onto him, needing only one person by his side.
Sora with his hair just as messy if not more, his legs tangled with Riku's, had embraced his body against his own. Desperately holding onto only he, for no one could save Sora from his ever lasting fears but the one whose name he dreams. At night he clings onto him in his heart and the spinning and trampling stops. The monsters dance within his heart, threatening to break all.
His hands cradle his body, holding him tightly. Sora's eyes were squeezed shut, whispering the other's name, "Riku.." His nightmares continue to swarm, but not for long. The dream eater's wings swoop in just in time. His demons are all gone and by his side he sleeps comfortably. Once more songs filled Sora's dream, chasing away the monsters that threaten to become a nightmare. Here Sora is held with one arm as the other is curled against a plush with a look that is identical to the dream eater himself.
With the morning rays upon his skin, his eyes widened as he woke up with a start. A quiet, yet emptiness filled the room. Not a single soul remains by his side. He looks at the place where he wished his silver friend could be, but all remains is nobody else. He even felt he could even forget the very name of his best friend.
With nobody else in sight Sora got up and looked out the isolated apartment window where an entire city laid before his very eyes. Buildings of different sizes stood in the great distance as humans of no magic did things that were too atypical from him.
Turning around, he saw a stand with an old phone or at least that's what the only other person who understood his circumstances told him. Supposedly, he could attempt to reach them through just that. She tried many times but alas failed to contact the very person she wanted to talk to once more. She wanted to apologize for everything and hear his comforting voice again.
However, she was not like how he was with Riku. It was quite different. They were siblings while he and Riku were something else completely.
Sora touched the phone and said the name that was being threatened by his memory to forget just that, "Riku."
Across the sea in a world where reality shifts and at the end of time was a boy of only seventeen years of age. There he rested his face on a counter that had clearly seen better days. His eyes were tired and he clearly wasn't doing the best. His heart had been shattered in half when his best friend had disappeared forever. At least that's what everyone believes. Still every day, he searches and works to find where the person who stole his heart lies.
A phone rang. Riku got up to get the phone and said a simple word, "Hello?"
"Riku!" Sora's voice ran through the other line, however Riku kept saying, "Hello?"
"Riku it's Sora I've missed you so much. My heart ached just from being away from you! Riku? Can you hear me?"
"Umm did you say something, I can't exactly understand." He could barely hear a voice, but the heart could feel Sora and he didn't know why.
"Riku I... I realized I longed only for you. I'm not in our reality anymore, I'm in the Quadratum! Riku?? ...and I can't go back, I'm sorry. Please get through... Please.." Sora was begging at the last moments. He just wanted to hear his voice once more before the world makes him forget everything.
"Hello? I'm sorry that language I can't understand?" The line went silent and Riku looked down feeling even worse heart ache than before.
The boy sleeps again at a counter with his heart aching further. If only he could find him. If only he knew of his words that were said. He would do absolutely anything even at the cost of his own life.
That night Riku disappeared from the world with no trace and arrived at a strange bar doing just as he was doing a moment ago. He felt different and everything felt more heavy. His hands looked strange and the other people around him kept staring at him.
The stars gazed below and the night was everything his dreams appeared. So maybe this was it?
However, before he ran into someone that looked too eeriely similar to his own self. The person who once was staring at him
"not Sora.." Riku only muttered too quietly. He did remind him of Sora somehow, but he also felt that he looked too similar to himself.
The person stared straight at him and shrugged, "My name is actually Yozora, it's close but not quite it. You said you were looking for Sora? I knew a Sora.
Riku narrowed his eyes, "...what?"
"That's right, I've been trying to find them or awhile now. I have to save Sora, you see.". Yozora held his crossbow, "And eliminate everyone who gets in my way."
"But he's my best friend."
"He?" Yozora shook his head, "Perhaps he was telling the truth then and maybe.." he smiled quietly, "I see. Your Sora lies in the abandoned apartment with the other lost girl Strelitzia. Hurry."
Riku nodded as he was given directions. However for some particular reason it was as if he felt that chilly air from an enemy during a battle. But then it suddenly stopped and perhaps he decided this would be better.
When he found the way to the door, Riku unlocked the room with his key and there he finally found the other, "Sora!" He was relieved at last.
Sora, however only stared at him. "Who... No you're... My friend, right?". His eyes lacked familiarity, but no a part of him knew he was important.
Riku was too late—well too late for his memory.
Riku didn't care if he didn't remember. He lost his memory once before and he'll wait until it returns again. "Best friends since forever.." he hugged him, even letting the tears fall down his cheek. He forgot him and his memories. He forgot everything, but he had Sora back. He should be happy. He has forgotten everything about him again.
"This place makes everything from before like a distant memory." Sora could only whisper quietly as he barely remembered but in his heart he knew he was precious because it wouldn't stop beating with excitement in his chest.
"It's not your fault.." Riku softly let go of the hug. He barely ever hugged him anymore even back on the islands, and today was the first time in several years "and I don't mind as long as I'm with you, I'll stay by your side until you remember."
That was a promise.
The eve passed to day when the morning rays shine upon his skin. He blinks as he smiles fondly, by his side was someone precious. Riku smiled comfortably and in his arms messy hair laid softly, just resting on his chest. He blinked up and grinned wider than ever before. He kissed his head and his long pointy locks and warmly felt his precious skin before he softly touched his lips to cheek.
Sora smiled even without his memories he knew this was the feeling of home.
