“She really is a strange girl” Cedar says to Chiron

“Yes, I suppose so” Chiron agrees, watching as the girl they were talking about starts jumping up and down, waving her phone high above her head, her long brown hair a mess “was the journey here difficult?”

“Well…” Cedar responds

“Hey, Maya,” Cedar says, worried. The 2 of them were sitting together during lunch at their high school on the last day of the school year.

“What is it?” Maya asks. She wonders why Cedar seems so nervous

“Well…let’s just say I-I, well, I’m going on a trip to New York City over the summer, and would love for you to come with me!” Cedar decides. Yes, this was much better than telling her outright that he knew she was a demigod, they could head over to camp half-blood when they were in New York and she’d find out there.

“Uhh…New York City? That seems a bit far, don’t you think? I’d probably have to ask my Aunt and Uncle beforehand” She tells him. She secretly didn’t want to go, and Cedar knew this.

“Ok then” He tells her, knowing that that IS the sane thing to do. But he had already sent her Aunt and Uncle a letter detailing everything about her being a demigod and his plan to take her to camp half-blood. He suspected her Aunt already knew this fact, seeing as how protective she was of her, but still allowed her to go. Maya didn’t know that her Aunt and Uncle had already approved of this trip a whole week ago, she still thought she’d be able to spend 2 months doing nothing, the lazy bum.

The bell rang and Maya and Cedar had to go to their respective classes. They both waved goodbye for now.

Several hours later

“But Aunt Taraaaaaa, what do you meaaaaaan?” Maya asks her Aunt after getting home.

“I said what I said, you’re going on that trip. I know you’d spend all your summer doing nothing otherwise.” Aunt Tara tells her sternly. She was shorter than Maya, with black hair instead of brown. They had the same brown eyes though, although certainly not the same eyesight, Maya’s been wearing glasses for a while now.

“Aunt Tara, I WON’T be doing nothing, I’ll be…uhh…” Maya struggled to explain that she had very important things to do. She still had to finish Naruto, she hadn’t even checked out the fanfiction Ria had recommended to her yet, she had to rewatch the Owl House, and…well you get the idea. Maya knew that her Aunt wouldn’t think these were important things, so she shut up.

She sighs, “when do I leave?” Maya asks

“Oh, tonight” Aunt Tara says immediately “you’re gonna go up to your room and pack up right now”

“TONIGHT????” Maya yells in surprise. Surely they could delay it a day or 2, couldn’t they? She didn’t wanna go on a trip right after school started.

“Did I stutter? We have to be at the airport by 8, so hurry up and pack” Aunt Tara snaps back

Maya, after realizing that she could not win, goes upstairs sadly. She tried to show this on her face a lot, even looking behind her to show her Aunt how sad her face looked-I mean how sad she WAS.

When she arrived at her room, she packed up her clothes and some other stuff (toothbrushes, hairbrushes, hair ties, her phone, a charger, etc). She could only bring a suitcase and a small bag. Her suitcase was small enough to be put in the area inside the plane above their heads, you know, that area thingy? I forgot what it’s called.

“Goodbye Slushy” She told her stuffed dog, it was a husky. She couldn’t fit her into any of her bags, so she couldn’t take her. She petted her and said “I’ll never ever forget you. You will always be my best friend forever”

“What’s the holdup?” Aunt Tara’s yelled from downstairs

“I’m saying goodbye to Slushy!” Maya yells back

“For god’s sake, it’s a STUFFED DOG! Are you not 14 years old?” Aunt Tara yelled again, but Maya could tell she wasn’t angry, she even thought she caught a laugh coming from Aunt Tara just now. She hugged Slushy and walked downstairs to meet Aunt Tara.

“I’m ready to go” She tells her
