Ezra Standish was a dangerous man when he was quiet, as he had been during the long drive back to the office. Their bust was successful, if wrapped up in a highly unusual manner. But, thanks to the undercover agent, they’d all managed to avoid new scars and arrest the monster they’d been after.
The tension in the van was not due to the job they’d just finished, not exactly.
A snicker bubbled up from one of the men in the back of the surveillance van. Green eyes pierced them all, as if a look could cause selective amnesia. Feigned innocence, shrugs, and at least one shit-eating grin met Ezra’s glare.
He sighed, leaning back in the chair he’d confiscated, leaving the others in the back to the uncomfortable benches. After all, he’d earned it. He’d saved the day. You might even say his dancing with the devil saved them all. Maybe he could persuade…
Ezra leaned forward, elbows on his knees and face hidden in his hands. He’d never live this down. Once was bad, but to have to do a strip tease twice to fool the miscreants they were after… No, he’d never live this down.
