SugarSapphire Wedding

Summary:

There's not enough SugarSapphire stories 💔

Sugarfly and Black Sapphire get married. That's it... This story was based off of a drawing my friend made!

(Sugarfly has slight PTSD?)

(No Pavlova because I hate him)

Notes:

Hiiiiiii, if you've been reading my other story "Sweet as SugarSapphire" I'm so sorry for the late updating!! Family member was in the hospital and I've had very few ideas, I'm so sorry 💔

And if you haven't read my other story... Go read it??

I might make a proposal chapter for this, maybe make it a two shot?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The wedding ceremony was just a few minutes away from starting and I could feel my jam run cold. I couldn't feel my face and I could feel my fingers tingling. I was full blown panicking. Pure Vanilla Cookie could see how stressed I was.

“Alright everyone! Let's go greet the guests before the ceremony!” He looked at me softly as I motioned him a ‘thank you’.

I sat alone in the groom's room, trying to calm my frazzled nerves, when the door opened. I turned around to see Candy Apple Cookie staring at me, her eyes full of worry. She wore a short, poofy, green dress with frilled sleeves. The apples in her hair: no longer red with chaos and energy, but green with growth and truth.

After Pure Vanilla Cookie defeated Shadow Milk Cookie, he said Candy Apple Cookie and I were free to do whatever we wanted. We decided to go with GingerBrave and his friends back to the Cookie Kingdom. Candy Apple and our relationship grew stronger over that time.

“Hey, knock knock…” She tried to joke, “Everything ok?’

“Yea, I- I'm just… I don't know, nervous I guess. “ I sighed.

She slowly walked over and sat on the ground next to me. Leaning her head against the arm of the chair I was sitting in.

“I don't understand why you're so nervous. You're getting married!” She joyed, “Shadow Milk Cookie has no more control over us.”

“Yea, I fear that's the problem…”

“What do you mean?”

“I'm getting married. I have no master to tell me what to do or… I was just so used to someone else having control over me that this new-found freedom is so overwhelming.”

As I rambled on and on, Candy Apple Cookie just sat there. No interruptions like she used to, no laughing, no faces, no nothing. Just sat there and watched me while I talked.

“I mean, marriage, it's a huge commitment! What if she still thinks of me and some… I don't know, ‘deceitful goon’?”

She turned her head up toward me and placed her hand on top of mine. Her hands weren't sticky with trickery like they used to be.

“This marriage with Sugarfly Cookie is all you. It's just you, not me, not Shadow Milk Cookie, not anyone else.”

She looked around before speaking again, “And I don't mean to be a gossip, but Sugarfly is just as nervous as you…” She giggled.

Candy Apple Cookie, maybe she still kept some of those silly pranks with her. Maybe it was just who she was; but witches did it make me feel better.

“Yea yea, whatever..” I snorted.

“It's true! You don't think she's new to this ‘freedom’ thing? She was weighed to the ground with metal boots, Sapphire!”

I hated when she called me that, but at the moment, I really didn't mind. I looked down at her. She had a huge grin on her face as she hugged her knees and laughed. She was like a small child. A small, bubbly, child.

She stood up so quickly that she almost fell backwards, “Woah!... Now, you are a free man… uhh at least until a few minutes… you know… with your wedding… So let's get out there and show off your pride, your freedom, your love for that sugar-sweet cookie out there!”

I chuckled, “Yea.”

“What? I can't hear you!” She joked.

“Yea!” I said again.

“Louder! You're getting married! Say it with me! Are you gonna go out there and get married in front of everyone?”

We both laughed as we said in unison, “Yea!”

The bride’s room was empty. Wedding Cake Cookie had shooed everyone out so I could get some privacy. I was so happy to finally get rid of those ol’ clunky boots, to be free, to fly, to get married! But to be honest, I was a nervous wreck.

Wedding Cake Cookie came and sat down next to me. She hugged her arm around me as I rested my head on her shoulder.

“Oh dear, what's wrong?” She asked.

The nickname sent shutters down my spine. Eternal Sugar Cookie would always call me ‘dear’.

“I'm really nervous. It's like I still feel her around me.”

Even after Eternal Sugar Cookie perished along with her garden, I could still feel her presence near me. In bed while I slept, in the town while I ran errands, at the table while I ate dinner. I could even feel her in my own home with Black Sapphire Cookie.

“Those boots, my wings, they were the last pieces I had of her. Even though they're gone, it's like she never left. It's like she's looming over me every chance she gets. Like this one thing can't be mine.”

Wedding Cake Cookie rubbed my arm as she hugged me tighter, “You poor thing. You went through a traumatic experience. Being taken away from your kingdom and left to be chained down, that's horrible…”

“I know all her tricks were manipulation, but I still think about her… I think I even miss her..?”

“Oh dear, of course you do, anyone would. She made you think she cared for you.”

Everything I said, everything I cried about, I let it all out right then and there in front of Wedding Cake Cookie. Things I had been too nervous to even bring up to Black Sapphire Cookie. As happy as I was to be allowed to marry Black Sapphire Cookie, my dough was curling in anxiety.

“I'll be right there beside you the whole time. I'll even walk you down the aisle. Don't let her words make you scared. This cookie loves you, everyone can see it.” She laughed.

Black Sapphire did make it quite obvious we were together. He was always open to PDA. He'd hold my hand, kiss me here and there, sit close, run his fingers through my hair. Oh witches did I love him.

“The ceremony starts soon. Are you ready to get out there? I can always delay it a few minutes if you need to.” She assured me.

“No… I mean yea, I mean-” I stumbled over my own words, trying to laugh it off, “I'm ready. “

I stood up and flattened my dress to smooth out the creases that were left from sitting. Wedding Cake Cookie rubbed her hands up my arms in a way to ‘hype me up’. I thought it was quite silly, but it did make me feel better.

I walked down the hallway to congratulate Sugarfly and Black Sapphire Cookie when Sugarfly Cookie's bridesmaids came down the hall. Black Frost Cookie brushed past me.

“Hey! Is everything ok?” I asked.

“Oh, Sugarfly Cookie is a little nervous. She's getting some space right now.” She said, walking off.

I didn't want to intrude. Those days were behind me: but as I walked past the bride's room, I couldn't help but listen in.

“Oh dear, what's wrong?” Said Wedding Cake Cookie's voice.

“I'm really nervous. It's like I still feel her around me.” Sugarfly Cookie's voice replied.

…

“No… I mean yea, I mean-” I stumbled over my own words, trying to laugh it off, “I'm ready. “

After a few minutes, the conversation ended and their footsteps made their way to the door and I quickly sped off.

As the ceremony finally started, everyone took their seats. First, Pure Vanilla walked down the aisle as the officiant. Next, Black Sapphire walked down as the groom. Then, Wedding Cake walked down the aisle as Sugarfly’s Maid of Honor, swapping out her daily dress for a light, yellow tuxedo dress. Lastly, Strawberry Cookie walked down as the flower girl, scattering small berry blossoms.

Everyone turned to look at the door once the music started playing, waiting patiently for Sugarfly to come walking down the aisle in her wedding dress. A few seconds had passed; a few seconds too long. I sat there in my black and purple suit worried that she had run out.

(Song: Magnolia- Laufey)

Sugarfly came slowly down the aisle. She wore a grey and blue dress with a sparkling, translucent train in the back of the skirt. She was breath-taking. She held a bouquet of MilkCrown flowers. Once she reached the podium, we locked eyes.

I softly whispered to her, “You look beautiful.“

“Thank you…” She replied.

“It’s time for our couple to say their vows.” Pure Vanilla spoke.

Black Sapphire closed his eyes before speaking, he messed with his fingers as his palms got sweaty.

“My dearest, Sugarfly Cookie: with a comma after dearest. When we first met, I thought you were the most beautiful cookie I had ever seen and I still firmly believe that. I've never seen a cookie so full of color and sweetness. I love your voice, your eyes, the way you step so big you end up tripping.” They both giggled, along with the guests.

“I feel like the luckiest cookie in the world knowing I get to walk with you around the Kingdom and wake up next to you in the morning. You bring me the confidence I didn't know I lost. The sun always shines down on you and makes you glow like the stars in the night sky. Words could never be able to explain the way I feel about you and how happy I am that I'll be able to call you my wife.” His hands still shook at his sides.

“I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Until we're crumbled and dusty, I vow to love you in sickness and in health; in poor and in wealth; for better and for worse.”

Sugarfly Cookie had blue in her eyes and icing gliding down her dandelion cheeks. She took out a piece of paper that she had tucked away in her bouquet. Her hands shook like crazy.

“My love, Black Sapphire Cookie. You are the most extraordinary cookie I have ever met.” Her voice shook, “When we walk the town square I can feel so many eyes on us, but it doesn't matter to me whether they're good or bad. With you by my side, I know no one can bring me down, not that you'd let them.” She joked.

Black Sapphire cupped Sugarfly's hands in his, steadying her anxiety rattled shaking.

“I love how it feels when you hold my hand or pick me up to spin me around. Despite all we've been through, you've never dared give up on me. You've never tricked or bamboozled me, and if this was a trick, then damn, you're committed to the craft. During the cold night when you held me close, I could hear your heart beat and know that everything would be ok.”

Sugarfly let out a deep breath before finishing her last vow, “Therefore, I vow to love you in sickness and in health; in poor and in wealth; for better and for worse.”

As soon Sugarfly finished her vows, the room went silent. Everyone had tears in their eyes and blowing into crumbled tissues they had in their pockets.

“Well then… by the power invested in me, which isn't as much as you think-” Pure Vanilla said, “You may kiss… the bride!”

And with that, Black Sapphire and Sugarfly closed the gap that stood between them. Black Sapphire wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. Sugarfly tightly hugged her arms around his neck, the bouquet leaving petals in his pitch black hair. Everyone in the ceremony stood up and cheered for the couple as they made their way down the aisle together into the ‘Just Married’ carriage that took them to the reception.

In the carriage, I laid my head on Black Sapphire Cookie's shoulder. Resting one hand on my shoulder and the other on my hip, he asked a question.

“So… Now that we're married-” He sang, “Where do you suppose we live now?”

That thought hadn't struck me, how could it fly over me like that?

After HollyBerry and Pure Vanilla Cookie beat Eternal Sugar and Shadow Milk Cookie, Pure Vanilla and HollyBerry Cookie had taken us in. With me living in the HollyBerry Kingdom and Black Sapphire Cookie living in the Vanilla Kingdom, the only time we really had together was when we were in the Cookie Kingdom.

“Hmm, I guess I didn't think about that…”

He hummed, “Well… what if we just stay here?”

“Here? In the Cookie Kingdom?”

“Yea, why not? It's peaceful here, the cookies are kind: not that cookies in the other Kingdoms aren't nice!” He protested, “But it'd be nice to settle here, you know, lay looow.” He said, dragging the last bit.

“I suppose that does sound quite nice..”

“Allllllright everyone!” Reporter Cookie announced, “It's time for the newly wedded couple to have their first dance!”

Everyone at the reception clapped, whistled, and cheered as Black Sapphire held his hand out and led Sugarfly to the center of the room.

Black Sapphire placed hands on her waist. Sugarfly wrapped her arms around his shoulders and rested her head on his chest, just below his chin. He pulled her in closer, resting his head on top of hers.

(Song: Last Night On Earth- Greenday)

Everyone had their eyes glued on the couple as they swayed.

“Hmm, this is nice… “ Sugarfly quietly hummed.

“Yea… it really is.” Black Sapphire replied, kissing the top of her head.
