Last night me and one of my friends were talking on Discord about an SM64DS x Forsaken crossover AU, (aka mario 64 if nintendo locked the fuck in) so here's the details of it we worked out! (Originally, it was just the original mario 64 crossed over with forsaken, but then we thought luigi wario and waluigi should be playable so it's sm64ds now.) But i've decided to expand upon it instead of it mostly being just character replacement.
Note: Any characters/enemies not replaced with forsaken characters are just whoever they are in the original game. You also can do whatever you wish with this au, make fanart and other stuff of this/build upon it if you want! :D
Yoshi --> Elliot. Instead of using his tounge and laying/throwing eggs, he summons pizza slices and can toss them at the enemy on command to deal damage and ricochet to nearby enemies like Yoshi's eggs, each enemy killed normally summons said pizza slices one at a time, with a maximum of 8 slices like a real pizza. (and all the playable characters can punch/kick and walljump/pick things up like mario, along with all being able to use the wing cap, but they still have their own power flower abilities) His Power Flower ability is to throw an unlimited supply flaming pizza slices (while the power flower is in effect) that can melt ice blocks and stuff like Yoshi's PF effect in the base game.
When Elliot has a full pizza's worth of slices he runs a LOT faster. The pizzas however do not affect bosses excluding Eyerok, which stuns him briefly. Says "YAY!" when collecting a Star.
Mario --> Chance. Pretty much the same as Mario but he has a gun now, like in Forsaken he has to flip coins to reload it BUT he has to consume coins he's collected in the levels to flip them with a 50/50 chance to either give him one bullet (he can hold a maximum of 6 at a time) or to damage him for one point of health. His Power Flower effect is to summon a giant coin that he can ride upwards to reach high places, jumping makes the coin go up faster.
When Chance shoots bosses, it doesn't deal damage BUT it does knock them back a good bit. Yells "LET'S GO GAMBLING!!!" when collecting a Star.
Luigi --> 007n7. Once per level (refreshes when re entering a level) he can stand still and press and hold on a spot in the bottom screen map to teleport there. He has the same running and jumping stats as Luigi but can't do the spinny backflip. He dies instantly via exploding if you try to teleport directly to a star before the game is beaten. His Power Flower effect is summoning a bunch of clones of himself that move as a single unit and instead of passing through passable walls/glass they permanently break them down, allowing any character to go through afterwards even after the level is exited and reentered.
C00lkidd is now the second baby penguin in Cool Cool Mountain. Interacting with him as 7n7 will give him 10 lives and a Star (which replaces Cool Cool Mountain's yellow switch Star.).
Wario --> Noob. The hat system is replaced with Noob's consumables, as the unlocked player characters can be switched between freely in a level via the bottom screen. Noob has the same running and jumping as Mario, but takes double damage from all sources due to being bald and hatless. The consumables can be used by any character, but Noob's Power Flower ability enhances whatever consumable they're currently under the effect of.
The Bloxy Cola which normally just speeds up the player will give Noob the ability to do spinny backflips and an enhanced triple jump during the PF effect. The Slateskin Potion, which slows down whoever consumes it to Wario's speed and has them take half (for Noob) or no (for the others) damage and allows them to break red bricks easily (they take several hits to break normally in this version of sm64ds), will turn Noob into solid gold under the PF effect, allowing them to break black bricks along with being invincible, along with not suffering any slowdown. The Ghost Burger which normally just turns the player characters invisible (aka can't be detected by enemies) but still able to take damage/be hit (along with taking more damage), will turn Noob invisible AND intangible, albiet unable to deal damage to others but they can pass through the same walls 7n7 can smash through under his PF effect. Useful if you don't want to destroy walls.
Noob can store one Power Flower, but before beating the game Noob is the only character who can use said stored Power Flower, the option to use it is grayed out for the other characters. (Changing to another character while anyone is under a Power Flower effect will end the effect immediately if done so before beating the game.)
Waluigi --> Shedledtsky. Unlocked after 100%ing the game, he has the same stats as Luigi and takes reduced damage from all sources due to his admin powers. Attacks and oneshots every normal enemy (including the likes of thwomps and chuckyas) with his sword and can spend ten coins to eat chicken to temporarily become invincible. Can break red bricks instantly and takes a few swings to break black bricks. His Power Flower effect is an enhanced version of the wing cap that actively flies instead of simply gliding (similar to how the wing cap works in the B3313 ROMhack) at a pretty good speed.
Approaching a boss as Shed unlocks an optional Kaizo mode refight (they ask shed if he wants an "all out rematch" instead of a normal one when he talks to them).
Peach --> Mamaledtsky. She does jack shit like Peach in the original game (both sm64 and sm64ds).
Bowser --> The Spectre. Can't breathe fire and doesn't get any special new gimmicks because I hate him. After beating him for the final time entering his boss rooms will simply boot you out of the level.
The Toads --> Dusekkar and his skins. Each toad is their own unique Dusekkar skin. The toad next to the castle's entrance is base Dusekkar, they also all speak in rhymes now but are otherwise unchanged. (Note: any characters replaced by forsaken ones will NOT be shaped like the original mario characters, however dusekkar is an exception because I think toad shaped dusek is funny, otherwise they're basically just the roblox characters in the original mario 64 style (I like the original style over the sm64ds style so despite it having sm64ds features everything is original mario 64 style fight me))
Bob-Omb Battlefield is now renamed to Taph's Tripmine Trenches.
The Bob-Ombs --> Subspace Tripmines. The tripmines now have eyes and legs and are much more aggressive than bob-ombs. They can spot the player from further away and take away two points of health if they detonate point blank (their explosion radius is also larger), if you're further away only one point of health is taken. Anything hit by the explosion that survives is temporarily turned bright pink and starts sparkling like how they work in ROBLOX. The bob-omb buddies are blue versions of the subspace tripmine minions and are pretty much the same as the bob-omb buddies in the base game.
King Bob-Omb --> Taph. He's still mute like in Forsaken, when you approach him atop his mountain he'll initiate the fight immediately instead of speaking with the player. His initial fight is similar to how it works with Yoshi, with him throwing his tripmine minions at you (albiet at a slower rate) and Elliot having to toss them back at him (he can't be thrown). When defeated, instead of exploding into a Star, he simply tosses it at you and hops off the mountain while insulting the player with emojis via roblox chat bubble style messages above his head. Afterwards (unless you pick a star where you fight him, in that case he'll go back to the top of the mountain) he'll aimlessly wander the battlefield, but still chuck tripmines at you if you get too close to him, in future stars. In his rematch Star he becomes MUCH more aggressive with his tripmine tossing, but otherwise has the same amount of health and can be thrown off the mountain to be defeated instantly.
Goombas --> Mafioso's Minions/Goons. Function pretty similar to goombas but come in packs of at least 4 or 5. They take a few hits to defeat (unless you ground pound them) and explode like roblox characters when defeated (tbh just assume any roblox character in this au explodes into limbs when they die). They like ganging up on the player to beat them up, so be careful to not get stunlocked to death by them.
Regular Koopa Troopas --> Small Drakkobloxxers. They're MUCH faster than Koopas but deal the same amount of damage. They're also invincible but can be turned docile by being fed a pizza slice by Elliot (in this case the slices don't ricochet/stop ricocheting once hit) and can be ridden like koopa shells (albiet with much more control and they go way faster). Boxes that spawn koopa shells now spawn tamed drakkobloxxers (they can run on water too).
Chain Chomp/Koopa the Quick --> Big Drakkobloxxer. Initially, the big drakkobloxer is chained up like in the chain chomp's gate Star, however once he's freed the gate will permanently remain broken open (along with drakkobloxxer himself remaining free) with him taking on the role of koopa the quick from then on. When you approach drakkobloxxer after selecting one of the race stars (he replaces a few silver star/yellow switch stars, but the races only appear once per world including taph's tripmine trench) he'll start growling and making animal noises at the player instead of talking to them due to being a feral dinosaur creature and will eventually initiate a race after a few seconds of this. he'll only go a little faster than koopa the quick does, so beating him in a race shouldn't be too much more difficult.
Baby Penguin --> Two Time. When you pick them up they will threaten to stab the player unless they put them down. However they won't actually stab the player when held, but will if you dive near them (instead of the penguin doing a lil slide like the player does two time jumps at them and stabs them for one point of damage). Wanders around snowman's land and cool cool mountain after the game is beaten.
Second Baby Penguin --> C00lkidd. Actively runs and jumps around the player in a playful way when they approach him. will wiggle out of the player's grasp after a few seconds when picked up unless 7n7 picks him up, in which case he'll let you carry him around wherever. Wanders around cool cool mountain and inside and outside the castle after the game is beaten.
Mama Penguin --> John Doe. He sits in the little ice pond just like mama penguin in the original game, but will attack the player with HEAVY knockback if they approach him while not holding two time/coolkidd. if brought one of them he'll thank the player and become docile towards them. (and gives a star when two time is brought to him) whoever is brought to him will stay there with him even after the level is reentered. he WILL attack if you try to take them away from him (unless you're 7n7 taking coolkidd), his attacks make you drop whoever you're carrying immediately BEFORE being flung.
Racing Penguin --> 1x1x1x1. Works largely the same as the racing penguin in the original game, but will kill the player instantly if you cheat during the race instead of not giving you the Star. Him and John will chase you nonstop across any and every level (including the castle) for the rest of the game if you intentionally throw two time/coolkidd off the edge of the world and immediately kill your character and delete your savefile once they catch you (coolkidd wiggling out of the player's grasp and falling into the void counts as intentionally dropping him).
Spindrifts --> Jane Doe. The divorce hit her so hard she got turned into a normal enemy 3. Identical to spindrifts but they're now jane doe.
Whomps --> 1x1x1x1 Minions (1x let doombringer borrow them). Must be fought off with punches/kicks and take three hits to defeat. Attacks the player with their swords instead of trying to crush them and drops green coins (equals ten coins) upon death.
King Whomp --> Doombringer (his original roblox design, I don't like his forsaken design). Is giant like king whomp and attacks the player with his hammer (which is slow but instakills them if crushed by it, along with making a shockwave that does 2 points of damage when struck by it) which must be jumped on in order to jump onto his head. Has 6 health and swings his hammer faster and more often the lower it gets. He compliments the player on their effort and gives them the star once defeated, then shrinks to a normal size and wanders the level afterwards. He is not hostile if approached, but will playfully swing his hammer and FLING the player if punched or kicked.
Pirahna Plants --> Subject 0. My friend said he should be piranah plant since big mouth. He chases the player around for a bit when approached and tries to attack them, but eventually gives up and goes back to his napping spot. (I don't know party.exe that well do forgive me.)
Unagi/SM64 Yoshi/Wario Apparition --> Phosphorus. He can be found coiled up and sleeping on the roof of the castle no matter what point in the game you get up there. Trying to wake him up by punching/kicking his tail/snake body will result in him telling you to go away and promptly going back to sleep. Every 30 minutes you spend in the game his tail will get a bit longer (like how in the game snake when the snake eats apples it get longer, but instead of apples it's half hours) and eventually he'll break the roof of the castle from the sheer amount of snake man on top of it and start hanging out in the third floor. This makes navigating the third floor a pain due to his scales being slippery to walk on. After even more time, he'll break the third floor and spend the rest of the game in the second (he stops getting longer at that point) and makes the game unable to be 100%ed due to rainbow ride tick tock clock and the secret area being destroyed in the process (unless you already cleared those areas out first) and makes the second floor a NIGHTMARE to navigate. The bowser/spectre in the sky entrance just gets moved to the right side of the castle exterior (not the waterfall side the lil field side). Once the game is 100%ed the castle will be repaired due to the power of the stars, and phosphorus himself will be reset to his base length (but stay in whatever floor you let him crash into) and not grow anymore. He gives you the key to unlock shedletdsky when you bother him after doing said 100%ing.
He also appears in jolly roger bay and replaces Unagi the eel, he's basically just there to jumpscare the player (since he finds it funny). After 100%ing the game there's a chance he'll show up in the basement instead and chase the player around while screaming the wario apparition voicelines at them (he deals 7 damage to the player if he catches them then slithers away)
Goomboss --> Mafioso. He summons a LOT more goombas/goons to fight the player with, and must be defeated with Elliot's pizzas or for other players, just bouncing off the goons to jump on mafioso's head/shooting him as chance. His minions become more aggressive and do more damage the lower his health is. Shows up and wanders around in any level where goombas appear in the base game after the game is beaten. Chases down the player and kills them if they kill a mafia goon. Beats up chance when he sees him.
King Boo --> Noli. The arena is larger and somewhat mazelike, along with there being no mirror, instead a bunch of intangible clones of noli spawn and you have to find the real noli (who is the only one that has a shadow) and attack him. Taking too long to find the real noli will make the clones tangible and start attacking the player (they only do one damage and die in one hit though). The lower his health is the more clones he spawns at a time. Hangs out in big boo's haunt after the game is beaten.
Chief Chilly --> Guest 666. The arena is larger and has parts that induvidually can melt (instead of the platform falling apart during the fight). Guest 666 charges at the player VERY fast (albiet with a slow windup) and upon hitting them will fling the player so hard that they get flung out of the level (out of the entrance painting I mean, not out of the hole you enter to fight him). And when you hit him off the platform he jumps into the air and makes fire start raining down for a bit, which melts parts of the platform and makes the fight harder. Hangs out in cool cool mountain and snowman's land after the game is beaten, he playfully headbutts the player (especially noob) when approached, but this doesn't deal damage regardless of the player/their state.
Klepto/Hoot --> Ringmaster. He flies around with a probably stolen wing cap and will attempt to steal elliot/chance/7n7's hats while in dry dry desert, which makes them take more damage when they're capless. If you disturb him while he's in a tree he'll carry you up into the sky and drop you.
Amp --> Pursuer. He runs around in circles/at the player and beats them up if he runs into them for 6 damage points, then laughs at them.
Eyerok is unchanged. But he thinks he's going insane because all the other bosses got replaced.
Sushi --> Gasharpoon. He now appears in jolly roger bay and hangs out in the pirate ship after you unsink it. In dire dire docks he swims around and attacks the player if he sees them.
The Bullies (small big and ice bully) --> Guest 1337. I don't like him so you can throw him into lava/ice water now. Guest 666 bullies 1337 when he's in snowman's land.
Big Snowman in Snowman's Land --> Azure. The big snowman is now a giant snowman of Azure, after getting the first star (where you have to climb the snowman) his big evil snow hat will disappear permanently and the snow azure will thank you and give you a secret star the next time you climb ontop of his head (this star replaces the stupid rng based star where you have to find 7 glowing bunnies to get a key to the white room). Before the hat is removed it'll insult you as you climb the azure snowman.
There is a normal sized azure (that ISN'T made of snow) frozen in an ice block in the igloo. He can be freed by Elliot under his PF effect and once he's freed he wanders around snowman's land and cool cool mountain afterwards.
Snowman's Land Penguin --> Geometry. Functions the same as the penguin he replaces (except he doesn't randomly stop in the middle of crossing the bridge).
Ukiki (specifically the one that unlocks the cage containing the star in tall tall mountain) --> Pr3ttyPrinc3ss. She attacks and kills you if you refuse to put her down to unlock the star cage, or if you pick her up after unlocking the cage. Wanders around the inside and outside of the castle after the game is beaten.
MIPs --> Bluudud. Goes WAY faster than MIPs but tends to crash into walls while you chase him. After you get both of the MIPs stars he wanders around the outside of the castle
Wiggler --> 08/02/07. Similar to the base wiggler fight but leaves pools of acid around the arena. If it runs into you headfirst you'll die instantly, touching other parts of it's body deals 2 damage. Wanders around the castle after he's defeated and the star is taken.
The Boos --> Jason. They rush down the player when they look at them and stab them, dealing 4 damage. But are VERY slow when you look away and die in 1 hit. Goes back to area 51 after the game is 100%ed (aka disappears forever from that save file).
If I think I could add anyone/someone comes out who I think could replace a mario 64 character i'll make a part 2, but I think this is pretty comprehensive at this point! (Don't expect a part 2 though lmao)
