Sugishita wasn't one to complain or give his opinion actively, but ever since that damned half-and-half arrived at the palace... Calm down, let's start at the beginning.
First of all, the small kingdom of Makochi was led by King Umemiya Hamije. His sweet smile and welcoming way with everyone made him the darling of the population, and he became the new successor after the fall of the old baron. But that's an old story and not relevant to our current moment.
Moving on, as someone who was honest and had a big heart, Umemiya had many people by his side, including his most loyal and faithful companion, the knight Sugishita Kyotaro. A young man with long black hair so beautiful that it looked as blue as a starless sky. He had a cold, intense gaze, as if he were going to rip your spine out in a single blow, and don't doubt that he would.
Well, everything in the castle works as it should. In a few months' time, King Umemiya's big engagement to Duke Tsubaki would take place. They were such a beautiful couple and everyone could see the love overflowing between them.
However, the presence of one particular person changed everything. I still remember. It was near fall when Umemiya arrived all wet with something in his arms. Sugishita was the first to run up to him and saw that it was a person. A boy, to be more specific. His hair was split between black and white, and he looked as if he had suffered some violence because he had so many bruises on his body.
At the king's order, everyone went to help the poor creature who woke up hours later in a warm, comfortable bed and the best clothes he could wish for. One of the servants told Umemiya about the new guest and Sugishita followed him.
“Umemiya-san... That guy's got something wrong.” he commented, ruffling his own hair. “Maybe he's a witch?”
“Don't say something like that. You know how I hate people being judged for no apparent reason.”
“I know, but my intuition tells me there's something wrong.”
His warning was absorbed by the king, who smiled at him and patted his head.
“Thank you, but I don't think it will be anything bad.”
The two men entered the room and the bicolor was waiting for them. Even his eyes were different! So fascinating. They had a touch of terror about them, though, and he curled up between the covers at the sight of them.
“W-Who are you? Where am I?” his voice tried to be firm, but it came out slurred and that was pathetic in Sugishita's eyes. Clearly, he was playing the good guy.
“Calm down.” Hajime's sweet voice echoed through the room, relaxing anyone who heard it. “I'm King Umemiya, I found you while you were walking and brought you to my castle. You're safe here.”
“Really? Are you sure I won't suffer like…” his voice was shaky, and he began to cry, making the king take pity and hug him. Once again, Sugishita felt that this guy wasn't a stranger.
“It's all right. Don't worry.” Umemiya tried to calm the boy down and dried his tears. “Can you tell me what your name is?”
“Hakura. Sakura Hakura.”
“It's nice to meet you. To make you feel even safer, I'm going to give you one of my best gentlemen as your personal guard.” He pointed to the tall man by the door. “That's Sugishita Kyotaro.”
And it was at that moment that the hairy man's whole world fell apart, and he never had peace again.
Sakura did everything she could to make him lose his temper.
The look on Kyotaro's face when he was hit by some random object in a fit of rage from the little one, who seemed to get a lot of enjoyment out of it, was comical. Apart from the fact that he was two-faced. To everyone else he was the poor mistreating servant from another kingdom, but with Sugishita he looked like Satan himself.
Worst of all, Sakura became very close to the king, sometimes even acting as an advisor, and he was well-liked by everyone in the palace with his somewhat sullen but kind manner.
The knight would sometimes complain to Umemiya about how that guy was just a profiteer, but no one took him seriously. They treated it as just a tantrum because of the boy's rather protective history.
But Sugishita wasn't going to give up easily. He noticed how Sakura avoided going out during the day, and when he did, it was always in thick clothes and with an umbrella. There was also the fact that, no matter how much he disguised it, he always looked disgusted during meals and ate very little. He also removed all the mirrors from his room because he said he still didn't like the way he looked. How could someone so beautiful say something like that? It was clearly strange.
“You know, you should stop making that face. They say the grimace is permanent and-" Sakura groaned in mid-sentence as he was pinned against the wall. Sugishita had a piercing gaze and was clearly out of patience. The shorter man smiled at that. “Did you finally find the courage to woo me beyond mere glances? I didn't know you were so indecent.” His false innocence was cut short when a dagger was thrust right into his neck. “I don't think the king would be happy to know that his faithful knight attacked a guest for no reason.” his voice came out frightened.
“Shut up, you winged vermin. You may have fooled the other idiots, but I know what you really are.” This made Sakura smile, and she relaxed her body, crossing her arms.
“Accusing without proof is very ugly for someone in your position.”
“Baron Togame, Count Nirei, Prince Suo.” Sugishita smiled toothlessly as his gaze widened. “I did my research, you little shit.”
“No wonder you're that idiot's puppy.” The blade came into contact with Haruka's skin, his Adam's apple rising and falling as he swallowed dryly when the boy gripped his hair tightly.
“Don't disrespect Umemiya-san!”
“Hmmm... did they tell you that you're so fucking sexy when you're angry?” He bit his lip in a mischievous grin.
“And have they told you that you're a piece of shit?”
“Yes, but you say it in such a seductive way... I also love seeing your helpless puppy face every time that little king ignores you. You're so pathetic!” Sakura groaned in pain as the dagger cut into his shoulder before returning to his neck. “What's wrong? Are you sad because you've discovered that you're nothing more than someone disposable to him?”
The grip on her hair increased, and Kyotaro snorted in hatred. That was so much fun! Too bad, the fun was short-lived, as they both jumped at the knock on the door calling for dinner. The taller one was a little panicked by the shoulder injury he had caused, but that only made Haruka laugh.
“Sure, we'll be right there.” Sakura answered the maid and heard her footsteps moving away. “Worried about going to the dungeon? Don't worry, maybe next time you'll kill me?”
The brunette growled, gripping the handle of the dagger while the other went to the wardrobe to change his shirt. With no other choice, he wiped the blade clean and kept it at his waist. It was the first gift Hajime had ever given him.
The two of them went on to dinner as if nothing had happened and, heavens, Sugishita chewed his chicken with the deepest hatred as he watched Tsubaki, a handsome prince with black hair and blue eyes, quite vain and a sweetheart, fall for the damned vampire.
“Sugi, your hair is back to normal.” Tsubaki commented in an excited and happy tone, making the boy feel a little embarrassed.
“Yes, your products prevented me from having to cut it.”
“What happened? Do you have a problem with me knowing?” Sugishita wanted very much to throw the knife in his hand right at that unfortunate man's throat.
“Oh, Sakura. We went on a little trip a few months ago. When we went to the fair, a bucket of white paint was about to fall on an old woman and Sugi saved her. It turned out that his hair was all dyed, and they'd used some component that wasn't bringing out the color. He was so happy to look like Ume-chan.” This generated some affectionate laughter.
They continued with their meal and good conversation, but Sugishita couldn't get out of his head the way Sakura looked at him with a certain curiosity? Someone like that was hard to decipher.
Well, after that day, their fights became more physical. At this point, the knight didn't even mind, and it was quite common for him to almost finish off that damn vampire, but he always seemed fine. Without a scratch. It made the hairy man furious every time he saw that damn innocent smile.
Sakura laughed when the knight's big no grabbed the collar of his shirt in the midst of another heated argument inside the room.
“What the hell do you want here? To break up with Umemiya-san? Why don't you go away and leave us alone?”
“Oh, it's just that months ago I went into a frenzy and tasted some of the best blood of my life. I would have drunk it all if you hadn't arrived in that damn carriage.” Sakura rolled his eyes and the taller man didn't let go, increasingly intrigued by the story. “Fooling Umemiya was easy, I thought I'd devour him in no time, but there's a different atmosphere here.” Sugishita gritted his teeth in pure hatred and the smaller man stroked his cheek, running his thumb over his lip. “I've found a better toy than that smirking slapper.”
The hairy man grabbed the vampire's neck, and I can still remember his breathing so close.
“I told you to respect him-” he widened his eyes at the kiss and squeezed his neck tighter. “Winged vermin.” he said disgustedly, almost spitting.
“Hairy Bastard.” the big hand stopping him from breathing, but not from grinning like a bitch.
The two-eyed man decided to drop the mask of the fragile young man and, as much as he liked that position, he was itching for something else. He squeezed the wrist that held him, and it was a matter of seconds before he turned the guard's arm, putting him on his back and grabbing his hair, leaving his beautiful neck on display. Sakura made a point of standing in front of the mirror in Sugishita's room, but the beautiful smile didn't appear in the reflection, but Sugishita could see it out of the corner of her eye, and it was the first time she felt afraid in his presence.
“That night..." the two-toned man said quietly, close to taller man's ear. “I tasted the most succulent Blood of my life and searched like crazy and finally found you.” He nibbled on his ear, laughing softly when he shuddered.
It was then that Kyotaro remembered more clearly. He was in the carriage with Umemiya, completely drunk on all the liquor Duke Tsubakino had given them. The king asked the carriage to stop because he felt like pissing and left the poor gentleman alone. After that it was all a blur, but that pair of day and night eyes never left his head.
He was in danger, not Umemiya.
The knight tried to pull away, but the vampire was stronger and managed to trap his other hand without any effort. Sakura wrapped the silky hair around her hand before pulling it away, leaving him on his knees, and took a bite out of his neck, scraping her teeth across the sensitive skin and was pleased by the gasp mixed with the surprised yelp. I have to say, it was a divine sight.
Before he could escape in any way, he bit him again, digging his fangs into his neck, and moaned with satisfaction at finally having what he wanted so much. He sucked on that wonderful liquid until he was weak enough to let go of his arms and embraced him, kissing the tired knight on the forehead, leaving a mark of blood on the pale skin.
“Thank you Kyotaro, you're delicious!” he exclaimed happily, smiling at him with his mouth tinged with crimson red.
Umemiya appeared just then. His reaction of complete shock and despair at seeing me with his precious puppy almost lifeless in my arms was priceless. Looking at him, I finished with the noble knight, who whispered something so beautiful in my ear that I was moved to tears.
The king was paralyzed with horror and I approached him, kneeling with just one knee on the ground and took his hand, placing a kiss on it. I looked deep into his eyes and said: “You will be, before any king, my brother, I love you.”
After that, I have to say that even though they weren't blood brothers, they were delicious.
