“This might take a little more effort,” he said, letting out a laugh, one that landed somewhere between nervous and cheeky. His eyes seldomly left hers as he reached down to adjust his prosthetics.
Before the box was even out of his pocket or facing up in his palm she knew what was happening. What he was asking.
She couldn’t have pictured this at all just a few short years ago. Her womanizer roommate, who swore commitment was only for the desperate and the zealots.
She held back just long enough for him to expose the prize inside before she dropped to her own knees in front of him.
When they were back on the same level, close as they’d get with the height difference, she wiped at her glistening eyes one quick time.
She nodded, grabbing at his face for a kiss, before acknowledgment of the ring or any verbal conformation.
As he wobbled into her, his lips turning against hers to deepen the kiss, smooth and steady, and she figured he must have understood her answer.
