Chapter Text
"Hello? Suga, I was sleeping. This better be really important, ” Daichi's voice mumbles sleepily from the other end of the phone.
"Oh, sorry, Dai.. It's not important, I'll let you sleep, I'm sorry-"
"No, you only call this late at night when it is something important, and besides, you've already woken me. What's up?”
Suga pauses. He should've known this would happen; Daichi can read him like a fucking book. Does he be honest, now, come clean and bare the darkest parts of his soul to his best friend? Or does he lie, not be believed, but have Daichi give up on interrogating the truth from him because they're both simply too tired?
"Suga? Are you still with me?"
The team capitain's voice shakes him out of his thoughts. The clock is ticking now, now that he's got his friend worried over him.
He makes his decision.
"I'm not okay, Dai..." Koushi whispers shakily, not sure if his phone mic even picked it up, but too exhausted to care. At least he could even admit it out loud.
He's honestly dreading his best friend's response. After all, it's Suga — he's always okay, right? He's always there for everyone else. His emotions don't matter.
"I'm sorry, Kou, I- I don't understand. Not okay how? Are you sick?”
Damn it. Damn it, damn it, damn it. Just as expected, Daichi is worried.
"No? Well, maybe? Not- not physically, at least. I just... I'm so tired, Daichi.”
Daichi’s not tired anymore. The sound of rustling sheets reaches the other side of the line as he sits straight up in bed, and his voice isn't groggy when he speaks again.
“I’m coming over, okay?”
