TAWOG (TWWWOG): The Letter (AFTERMATH)

Summary:

Actions always have consequences as Carrie would learn.

Maybe it wasn't the best idea to do what she had done to either of them, she thought.

And now, her boyfriend and one of her best friends were on the line all because of what she'd done.

Can she make it up to them in time?

Or will it end up being her downfall..?

Chapter 1: The Realization

Notes:

WARNING!

Hey there! Just letting you readers know that this spoils a bit (more like the entire plot) of the new Gumball S7's episode 13! If you have not watched it yet either due to not having Hulu or other reasons, I highly suggest you DO NOT read this because it won't be fun without knowing what goes on in the episode.

However, if you have watched it before or simply don't care about spoilers, then feel free to read this alternate ending of "The Letter"!

One last warning to all readers who haven't watched it yet, THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD!

Now anyways, I'll talk more in the end notes about stuff, see you there.

(ALSO IT WILL BE 3 CHAPTERS, so uh don't think this is the end. I love being dramatic as you can tell.)

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

(Only 30 minutes after the school day and therefore, "The Letter" had ended...)

Gumball and Darwin were walking back home after school, where Darwin had managed to settle out his love letter conflict with Carrie before she almost destroyed the entire building along with its students out of pure rage for him supposedly cheating on her with Hector. While Darwin was very happy though about how it ended with him and Carrie making up and kissing, Gumball on the other hand was deep in thought over the day's events.

Sure, his brother and Carrie had their "happy" ending, but why was he the one who was forced to kiss his best friend?

Actually, that was a big understatement. Darwin wasn't just his "best friend". Darwin was his own brother! Someone who his family had not only adopted, but had almost been there for his entire life!

Why couldn't she have just kissed him on her own without his body? She did it when her and Darwin got together that very fateful day, so why did she not do it now?

It just disgusted and disturbed the feline, honestly. Who would kiss their own brother with passionate love, after all?

Other than the stupid question he'd asked way earlier, Gumball believed he had really done nothing wrong to get possessed again when Carrie became furious at Darwin later on. And even if she didn't mean to possess him (which he highly doubted), the ghost could have even just gotten out of his body before kissing Darwin.

Gumball just didn't know what to think currently. But one thing was for sure, he wasn't gonna say anything and ruin Darwin's relationship with her. He wouldn't want to make his brother devastated.

It would hurt to see him that sad...

However, it didn't mean he would stop thinking about it. No, he was going to get to the bottom of this and figure out why Carrie had been that weird way today.

For himself, and for Darwin.

Although, it would have to wait until next week or the next time he saw Carrie, since today was the final day of school for the week. Unfortunately, it wasn't yet known to Gumball how close that moment would be.

But as the afternoon faded into the night, Gumball only began thinking more and more about his and Carrie's friendship and in general, their whole relationship.

They honestly started off as a bit of nuisances back then, but slowly became good friends over time as they warmed up to each other's presence.

That Halloween party, the whole sentient jealousy creature thing, their silly little candy scam that ended up summoning a monster from the Underworld, helping her with confessing to Darwin about their feelings, and that whole ex-boyfriend thing...

"Ah, such good times we all had back then...." Gumball thought to himself while laying on his bed while Darwin snored quietly in his fishbowl.

If only they lasted forever.

The blue cat just couldn't stop thinking more and more about Carrie though, even as his eyes slowly shut and mind went into a deep sleep.

While he was deep within his own memories however, the feline started to notice a pattern.

A concerning pattern at that...

If he was remembering this all correctly, then...

Carrie had been just a bit more hostile to him recently...

But it was just a bit more teasing or prodding than usual...nothing too important or weird to worry about, right?

Right..?

Even Gumball knew that this wasn't how friends should act to each other. They shouldn't begin treating them like trash for no reason, especially out of nowhere.

Did she think it was all funny to do this to him?

Had she gotten so used to him being friends with her that she thought it was okay now to be mean to him more often?

Or maybe she hadn't been his friend the entire time! Maybe she had been using him because he's so nice and he's so naive or something along that.

That thought just made him growl in rage as it bubbled in his head.

But none of that really made sense, right? If she wasn't a friend, why would she care for him when he needed help?

When he and Darwin had to save his sister from that mansion...

When they summoned that monster by calling its name so much...

What had gotten into her?

He didn't know. He had no clue at all.

How had Carrie went from his second best friend to someone who seemed to torture and tease him just for her own fun?

At least that's what it seemed. Maybe he was just being paranoid or something.

Gumball sighed in a bit of annoyance and betrayal.

If it was for a more dumb and weird purpose...

Well then, he would need to intervene and put a stop to this.

Permanently.

It was his job to keep his siblings and himself safe from these manipulative people. He wasn't just going to let it all happen and regret it later on in life when he was 30.

If Carrie didn't have a good reason for this, then it would all be over for her and Darwin.

It would all be over with his friendship with her.

And finally, it would all be over for her game of lies, he thought.

However, right as he was about to get some shut-eye, he was suddenly awoken by the sound of a notification.

It wasn't his phone, no...

It was Darwin's. This could be the perfect opportunity to figure out the perfect time where he could ask Carrie her reasoning for this whole mess!

Gumball quickly yet quietly got off the lower bunk and grabbed his brother's phone to check what it was.

Sure enough, it seemed that Darwin had planned a date tomorrow with her.

The perfect time!

He would just have to be very very sneaky with it...

Then, he drifted off to sleep with a new goal in his mind.

Although, another thought lingered in his head still.

A more...weird one.

One that she couldn't exactly defend herself for.

One that even Gumball knew he couldn't deny forever.

One that could ruin everything for any of them.

Why did she not respect their personal space as siblings at all and forced him and Darwin to kiss?

And the worst part was that she could've done it without him having to be involved! But of course he always had to for some unknown reason.

It's as if he was some sort of main character in a show....

"Ugh, that sounds crazy...." he muttered to himself as he slept.

He growled one more time at that stupid idea before fully floating away to his dreams...

Tomorrow would be the day.

The day where everything changed...

Whether anyone wanted it to or not.

Notes:

Surprise, surprise. I guess I'm doing something for "The Letter" just like what I did with "The Amadain".

That means it's time for sad stories, angst, and of course everything else but 10 times worse since what Carrie did is worst than doing a joke and being a bit dumb with your choice of apologizing.

Anyways, yeah...not much to say here.

Oh wait, I should mention the reason I did a aftermath of this episode instead of the alternate ending version is because I personally feel like this STUPID episode cannot be worked with unless you do a full on rewrite, and I don't got the time for that honestly.

Nah, I'm just lazy, but still, you get it.

Also, I should mention that these chapters are gonna be short and are split up for the purpose of the story / suspense. Sorry. :)

Okay, now I'm done with my yapping, which means...

Thanks for reading Chapter 1 of TAWOG (TWWWOG): The Letter (Aftermath), and I'll see you in the next one!

Constructive criticism is welcome in the comments!
