Chapter Text
Stella, Black Rock Shooter, sat in the passenger seat of the car, her equipment barely shoved into the backseat. The barrel of the Rock Cannon resting over her right shoulder, supported by her seat, the backseat, and the dashboard. The Rock Cannon was turned to the side, the bayonet pressing into the pillar that held up the roof to avoid blocking as much of the passenger side window as possible.
Stella still wasn’t fully certain how they had fit her Booster Unit in the backseat of the car. The massive engine unit and wings filled out the entire backseat, precariously balanced on its side. The wings went to the floor and the ceiling respectively.
Her sword, Black Blade, was the only piece of equipment that wasn’t awkwardly shoved into the small car. It sat on the backseat of the car, neatly fitting under where the Booster Unit sat.
Stella looked over at her current companion, the one driving the car. The unique blend of white, black, red and red hair was one of the first things Stella had noted of her current companion when they had first met. The second were her eyes. Black as pitch with vivid red crosses.
Arlecchino’s haunting eyes briefly left the road and turned to meet her own blue eyes.
“I would advise against staring into my eyes. I can promise you would not like what you will find.”
Stella tilted her head briefly before nodding.
“We have arrived,” Arlecchino said as she flipped the turn signal. Sure enough, as they turned into the parking lot, Stella could gaze up at the large lettering proclaiming the name of their destination.
Hobby Lobby.
Arlecchino parked in a parking spot and gracefully stepped out of the car as Stella had to squeeze under her cannon. Stella opened the back door, pulling out her cannon and sword. She could do without her Booster Unit for the few minutes their supply retrieval mission would last.
They had parked close to the entrance, with Arlecchino claiming the reason was the heat, but Stella wasn’t so sure. The woman was perfectly poised without a bead of sweat on her brow. She had also felt the heat of her blood when she used her blood. Despite being a bloody red, Arlecchino’s flames burned hotter than Stella’s own blue fire.
Despite temperature not being an issue for Stella, she still felt goosebumps form on her skin at the sudden shift as the doors opened and AC washed over her.
Stella casually walked inside, following Arlecchino inside the Hobby Lobby. The woman needed beads, and Stella didn’t see the need to ask why.
Stella ignored the stares of the people as they walked in. If Arlecchino even noticed the people staring, she didn’t let it show.
They walked the inner square of the shelves before circling to the back of the store.
“It should be this aisle,” Arlecchino muttered. Stella only heard because of her proximity.
Sure enough, the beads they needed were down this aisle. Arlecchino spent a few moments glancing over her options before grabbing a pack.
“That is all I need. We are done here,” she spoke. Stella followed as they left for the register.
Getting back into the car was just as interesting as it was the first time. She had to slide the Rock Cannon over the shoulder of the seat from the back and then she had to play limbo to sit down. Of course, by the time Stella was buckled, Arlecchino was sitting down gracefully with the car turned on.
With their mission finished, they began driving once again.
