Notes:

OKOKOK HI.
This was the first actual fic I ever wrote and I'm finally deciding to post it because I was super proud of it at the time. Kinda hate it now but it was an important milestone for me, so I can't just let it go to waste.
I swear I'll write new (and hopefully better) stuff eventually, but I start high school in 2 days and I've been super busy. Got a few marbles bouncing around in my little skull, so maybe I can write something cool.
Anyways take my stupid toxic yuri that I refuse to speak of because its cringe

Work Text:

It was our second match of the day. The brisk air smelled lightly of roses as the sun began to sink in the sky. Everyone was busy chatting away in the time before the Phight began. Amongst my team members, one caught my eye.
She was tall and muscular, wearing a white and teal suit with rims of sparkling gold. Her cowboy hat was embellished with the golden emblem of Lost Temple, settled neatly between her curved aquamarine horns.
Of course it was her.
"I'm not sure how I feel about assisting a wanted criminal..." The words slipped out before I could stop myself.
She turned my direction and smirked.
"Well," she grinned. "What's not to like?" Her voice was smooth and charismatic with a hint of a country accent. She approached me like a snake stalking its prey, each step calculated.
My heart began to race as I searched for an answer. The sun rested on the horizon behind her, casting a fiery glow across the sky. I felt small in her vast shadow, my cheeks flushing.
"Oh, c'mon flowers," she laughed. "Am I that irresistible?" Her eye glistened as she grinned, displaying her pearly white fangs. My self-control was slowly slipping from me as I was backed into the wall. She firmly placed her hand above my shoulder, pinning me in place. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't escape.
I was lost in her gaze, a swirling white like marbled clouds. An ocean of pearl I wished I could drown in. Her breath was warm as she leaned in, with barely a hint of bitter cigarette smoke.
It happened before I could stop it. My lips pressed against hers in a passionate kiss. She bit my lip as our tongues intertwined, our eyes shut. She held my head in her hand gently, fingers running through my hair. I felt her soft skin against mine as we melted into each other, a warm rush flowing through my body as she leaned into me. I wished our shared kiss could last forever as I wrapped my arms around her waist.
A light smirk settled on her face as my heart fluttered, the two of us pulling away from the embrace.
"I'll see you after the match," she whispered gently. In one smooth motion, the woman slipped out of my hands and took her place in the arena.
I was never supposed to love her. Scythe was a serial killer and cult leader, she was in no way a good person. If I hated her so much, why did I kiss her? And... why did I like it?

Our team won the Phight. It wasn't an easy job, but our teammates pulled their weight and gained the upper hand. We gathered beneath an overhanging cliff as everyone celebrated the victory. Scythe approached the rest of us, laughing alongside one of our melee Phighters. Her eye locked onto me.
I avoided her gaze. This time, I wouldn't mindlessly fall for her flirtatious remarks and witty words. I knew she was toying with her prey, and I couldn't let her continue any longer.
Though... I felt my heart race again as she took a seat next to me. Her hand brushed over mine as she spoke.
"Still convincing yourself you hate me? Come on honey, it's obvious."
The Phighter's voice was playful, and something about it wrapped me in a constricting grasp. I wanted so desperately to fight back, but I could already feel myself slipping.
With one hand, she tilted my head up to meet her soft gaze.
She leaned in close to me as she whispered, her breath warm against my neck. "Just one kiss?"
A gentle sigh escaped my lips as I gave in.
"...One kiss won't hurt."
