Work Text:
Tonight was Marukawa’s annual New Year’s party, and to say that it was going well wasn’t exactly untrue, however…
Ritsu found himself fending off the third glass of alcohol an older female author was offering him, having been unable to fully avoid the eye of the same crowd that had been excited to hassle him the year prior.
He figured that Takano would have come to his rescue like he had last year, but Ritsu realized that he was a tad occupied with his own problem once he threw a look in his direction.
“You really are a cutie, Onodera-kun! Takano-san wasn’t lying when he said you didn't hold your liquor well last year.” One of the women giggled, nursing her own glass without issue.
“I’m really not supposed to be drinking this, so…” He pushed the glass back towards the second woman who was offering it to him.
“Oh come now, we won’t tell anyone!” She pushed it towards him again, and he smiled tightly at her, not sure how to reject it without upsetting her.
“You know, I have a daughter around your age, I’m sure she’d love to meet you! You’d be the perfect match!” A third woman spoke up now, smiling behind her own wine glass.
“I-is that so?” He wanted to humor her, he really did, but he couldn’t help but to keep staring off across the banquet hall towards his boss and the female stranger that was far too snuggled up around his arm, chest rubbing against him. “I-I, um, think Takano-san needed to talk to me about something actually, so I’ll have to excuse myself from you ladies. It was lovely talking to you, so if you’ll just excuse me…”
“Ehhhh?” They all whined, unhappy to see him go so soon as he staggered off towards the only thing his tipsy mind could focus on: his boyfriend getting flirted with. His boyfriend. His.
Halfway to the scene, he bumped shoulders with a taller man, but he barely bothered with a quiet apology, not even bothering to look him in the eye before continuing on his way.
“E-excuse me, Takano-san.” He was certain he looked ridiculous, his face already warm from the bit of alcohol buzzing in his system. “Th-there was something I had to talk to you about, could we go somewhere more private for a moment?”
“Oh.” Ritsu could see the understanding on his face in seconds, feeling like a fool. “I’m sorry Miss, you’ll have to excuse me.”
“That’s too bad.” She smiled, readjusting one of the straps of her dress. “If you have time to continue our little chat, you know where to find me.”
“Haha, of course.” The smile Takano gave her in return ended the moment he turned on his heel, following Ritsu towards the side of the room. “You know for a fact that you’re not supposed to drink at this event, so why on earth do you look like that?”
“You try fending off those women when they gang up on you like that!” Ritsu hissed at him, pressing past the closed door at the side of the room and down a hallway. “I can’t believe you were letting that girl touch you like that…”
“What, are you jealous or something?” Takano could already tell as much, but felt a great satisfaction watching Ritsu’s face get even more red as he stomped down the hotel’s grand hallway. “You know it’s just part of the job. I have no interest in people who throw themselves at me like that. Not that I would be opposed if you did the same, of course.”
“I would never! I don’t even have the…you know.” Ritsu gestured around his chest in an awkward circular motion.
“Even without big boobs, I still love you, so don’t fret.” Takano patted his head, dodging the frantic hand swatting him away moments later with ease. “Where exactly are you taking me anyways?”
They came to a stop outside the men’s restroom, and Takano raised an eyebrow in his lover’s direction.
“I must be a horrible influence on you for you to even consider sneaking off to a place like this while we’re on the clock.” Takano could hardly contain the smirk tugging at his lips.
“I blame the alcohol…” Ritsu trudged forward, giving a quick look around to make sure nobody was around before beckoning Takano over to one of the many open stalls. “Just a few minutes, okay?”
“Just a few minutes.” Takano parroted back, locking the door behind them as he approached the brunet. “What’s the plan now that you have me to yourself, anyways?”
“...You know what one of those women said to me?” Ritsu knew he was playing with fire, but for even a second, he wanted Takano to feel that same uncomfortable feeling he had felt watching from afar earlier. “That I should meet her daughter, that we’d be a good match…”
That amused look Takano had been wearing the whole time since they’d snuck off evaporated in an instant. “And what did you say to her?”
“Just a simple acknowledgement, I was a little too busy staring at the lady clinging onto you to properly turn her down.” Ritsu felt a small feeling of superiority as amber eyes seemed to twitch somewhat. “But you know I would never…”
“Never.” Takano bumped his forehead against Ritsu’s, looking him straight in the eyes.
Maybe he shouldn’t have opened this box back up for the first time since they started dating. Takano’s possessive streak was no joke, and he usually knew better than to poke that bear, but he was tipsy and Takano had really irritated him earlier, being all smiley with that woman. He deserved to sweat a little.
“You like when I get all in your face like this, don’t you?” Takano seemed to reign himself in again, knowing better than to let out that ugly side of himself in an environment like this. “It’s been awhile since the last time I jumped your bones because you were being dense."
“I’m not dense…” Ritsu grumbled, looking to the side.
“Are too.”
“Am not.”
“Are too.”
“Am n-mmph!”
Takano shut him up with a kiss, pressing their lips together hard.
It started simple enough, but when Ritsu’s tongue slipped out of his mouth and against Takano’s bottom lip, they were done for.
The younger of the two stumbled backwards until his back was against the wall, legs struggling to support himself as he was kissed silly. He clung onto his lover’s arms to anchor himself, the latter not minding in the slightest.
Ritsu’s nostrils flared, doing anything to get some air into his lungs and keep the kiss going. Takano certainly didn’t seem keen on it ending either, cupping his lover’s cheek gently, massaging his thumb along his jawline.
But that’s when he caught a whiff of something—a scent he was certain he’d never smelled on Takano before. He was in the neighboring apartment’s bathroom enough to know if anything new had shown up that would make his lover smell different, and it most certainly hadn’t, so why on earth was he catching a whiff of something so fruity? Was it strawberry?
Images of the woman in that low cut dress that had been clinging onto Takano’s arm earlier flashed through his mind, and it was like he was seeing red. The grip he had on Takano’s arm tightened, nails digging into his freshly pressed suit jacket.
Takano was perspective to the shift in his mood though, pulling away and watching a string of saliva drag between their mouths.
“Wow.” He couldn’t help but chuckle at the glare being directed at him. “Jealousy looks good on you.”
“Quiet, you.” Ritsu tugged Takano back down by his necktie, connecting their lips again, face red from more than just the alcohol.
It’s all part of the job, Ritsu understood that, he really did. He wanted to be able to rationalize it, but his feelings couldn’t be changed. Takano was his just as much as he was Takano’s. Seeing anyone else get handsy with what was his…it would never sit well with him, likely ever.
Their relationship had passed the point of being brand new, but all the same that flame had yet to burn down its fresh wick in the slightest. They might as well have still been those same stupid high schoolers during their brief time together all those years ago, stupid and in love.
And ‘stupid’ was absolutely the word Ritsu would use to describe Takano’s hand that was fumbling with his belt, getting it halfway off before he was forcibly stopped.
“The second that comes off, ‘a few minutes’ kind of flies out the window, doesn’t it?” Ritsu grabbed Takano’s hand, stopping him in his tracks. “And if I look any more ruffled, it’ll be a little too obvious I was...doing things.”
“I’m not a ‘thing’.” Takano pulled his hand back, reaching into his breast pocket and handing off its contents to Ritsu. “Besides, I came prepared.”
“...You cannot be serious.” Ritsu stared at the condom wrapper in his palm, mouth agape. “In a public restroom?”
“If you'd prefer, we could always go down to the parking garage and hop into my car for a ride.”
“And have a security guard question why a car is rocking around? No thank you!” Ritsu shoved the wrapper back into Takano’s hand, feeling his possessiveness leaving his system by the second as he was reminded of his boyfriend’s absurd sex drive. “And you realize that some of our co-workers are parked down there too, right?”
“They’re still working the floor, so we have plenty of time. If they have enough time to notice we slipped off, they’re not doing their jobs properly.”
“We are not having sex in your car, Takano-san.” He cringed at the crumpled-up plastic in Takano’s grasp. “I seriously can’t believe you brought that to a work event.”
“Well excuse me for thinking that you wouldn’t want to walk around with my cum dripping down the backs of your legs while being hounded by a herd of cougars.” He shoved it in his pants pocket this time. “If that’s what you want though, who am I to deny you?”
“I never said…!” Ritsu slapped a hand to his reddening face, dragging it downwards against his upset expression. “I thought we’d just make out for a little while and then head back out there, do you really want to, y-you know…?”
“I mean, if you kiss me any more like how you were just now, I’m gonna get hard. So if that’s what you want, then…” Takano tapped his lips, leaning forward just enough that his breath ghosted against Ritsu’s face.
Ritsu stared hard at Takano’s face, feeling the expectation behind his closed eyes and barely parted lips. He had left it up to Ritsu as he loved doing.
…They could be in and out in a short enough amount of time that nobody would catch on, right? Somehow, nobody had wandered into this restroom yet, so perhaps it would be okay if he would just…
Takano inhaled sharply when Ritsu gently caressed his cheek, eyes opening like little slits to peer down at him.
“Y-you’re a horrible influence, you know that?” Mere centimeters away from connecting the two of them again, Ritsu puckered his lips, inching closer and closer until…
Creak.
Ritsu felt like jumping out of his skin at the sound of the men’s bathroom door swinging open, bumping against Takano’s shoulder and feeling an exasperated sigh against the top of his head as a shadow creeped under the stall door and towards their dress shoes.
“Masamune, that’s you isn’t it? Kusagawa-san is looking for you.” An all too familiar voice spoke to them from the other side of the stall, instantly making a pit form in Ritsu’s stomach. “...Unless of course you’re indisposed at the moment. Which I know for a fact you wouldn’t be, because you’re not stupid enough to do anything like that at a work event.”
“What if I just had to take a shit?” Takano acknowledged Yokozawa unwillingly, still not opening the door quite yet as Ritsu made himself more decent.
“Then I’d excuse myself and leave you to it, but I happened to catch you and your subordinate sneaking off around ten minutes ago and was starting to wonder if something had gone wrong.”
“The only thing that went wrong was you showing up when you did.” Takano swung the stall door open, glaring at his best friend. “It was just about to get good, too.”
“Idiots, the both of you.” Yokozawa rolled his eyes, walking off towards the sinks.
Just when he was about to dive into more of a lecture, the bathroom door swung open again, revealing another familiar face.
“Yokozawa~!” A sing-songy voice called out into the room. “Did you get Hiyo’s text? Sorata got into the cabinet with his food and made a huge mess!”
“Ki-Kirishima-san, wh-what are you-” Yokozawa could feel the color draining from his face as Kirishima walked in with a huge grin on his face.
“...Isn’t that the name of your…?” Ritsu looked to Takano, who looked just as surprised as him.
“Yes, the same cat from back then.” Takano crossed his arms, looking at his old friend expectantly. “Mind explaining what Sorata is getting up to these days, Yokozawa?”
“Oh, Takano, Onodera, you’re here too!” Kirishima didn’t look as surprised as he sounded, planting himself firming in the middle of the group. “Do you want to see the pictures my daughter sent?”
“Oh, uh, sure…” Ritsu was thrilled to have the attention off of himself, ignorant to how Yokozawa seemed to be melting into the floor.
“He was always food-motivated.” Takano chuckled at the sight of Sorata looking absolutely thrilled in the middle of a huge spill of kibble. “Probably since he was picked up off the streets the way he was when he was a kitten.”
“Really? Yokozawa never told me about that! You’ll have to tell me more another time!” Kirishima pocketed his phone, bidding them farewell and leaving with Yokozawa the moment he was able.
“...What exactly just happened?” Ritsu asked, suddenly feeling sobered up.
“God, you’re so dense.”
“Am not!”
