A spoonful of solace

Summary:

The noodle scene in the sneak peak for EP 19. Don't we all need some theraphy after today's EP?

Notes:

I didn't plan to write and post today since I don't have much time but I needed to get this out as a compensation for the depression today's EP was.

I don't even write fluff usually since I'm not good at it but have this silly little thing. I needed it!

Don't take this too seriously! I hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

Jiang Xiaoshuai should’ve known that Guo Chengyu had other intentions when he said “Let me feed you.” He was lifting a single spaghetti noodle with the fork, coming closer and closer to Jiang Xiaoshuai’s mouth which he obediently opened.

But then, the fork was quickly lowered and Guo Chengyu managed to catch the other end of the noodle with his mouth, smugly looking at Jiang Xiaoshuai.

He was returning his look, startled, and then, they were staring at each other.

Jiang Xiaoshuai couldn’t quite tell just when exactly he had fallen in love with Guo Chengyu. But it had eventually happened with how persistent the other man was. He had made Jiang Xiaoshuai open up to him, even though he wouldn’t have thought that he’d manage to do that again.

After a while of intense staring, Guo Chengyu moved closer. Obviously, Jiang Xiaoshuai knew what was about to happen, so he automatically closed his eyes, awaiting his boyfriend’s kiss and even forgetting about the noodle that was still hanging in between the two of them like a thread.

A few seconds passed before he was able to hear laughter, quickly opening his eyes to see how Guo Chengyu was looking at him amusedly. “This was a test.” He explained, grinning. “It proved my point.”

Jiang Xiaoshuai was aggrieved. “What point?” He asked, even though he could already picture what his boyfriend was referring to. “That you’re absolutely in love with me.” He stated. “Eager to make out with me at any time, even though you’re always acting like a damsel in distress.”

Jiang Xiaoshuai was subconsciously sucking the noodle into his mouth – the food in general was entirely forgotten, even though he was actually very hungry. “I’m not acting like anything.” He then explained. “I’m just trying to be myself here. I don’t want to disguise myself in front of the person I…” He hesitated. “In front of you.”

Guo Chengyu was cupping his cheeks, smiling. “I know, baobei. And that’s why I’ve fallen for you. I can see that you’re more or less often pretending to be fine in front of others while you’re actually not, so I appreciate that you trust me enough to show me the real you, with all the rough edges which I love just as much.”

Jiang Xiaoshuai was too stunned to speak. He couldn’t believe that the one whom he had initially labelled as a cold and heartless type of man was able to talk like that.

And then, he did something which he usually didn’t do. Or well, he had initiated their very first kiss as well but he had otherwise never been the type to do that. With Guo Chengyu though, it was so easy to let go, to stop overthinking and to live in the moment.

Jiang Xiaoshuai moved closer, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend before he deepened the kiss, Guo Chengyu’s tongue eventually asking permission to slip in between his lips. Jiang Xiaoshuai granted it and opened them for him willingly.

Soon, he was sitting on Guo Chengyu’s lap. Truthfully, he couldn’t even tell just how exactly he had ended up there, whether he had approached Guo Chengyu or whether the latter had pulled him closer. It didn’t matter though.

What mattered was that Jiang Xiaoshuai, against all odds, had found where he needed to be. He had found where he belonged and he tried to convey all the feelings which he didn’t dare to say out loud with his ardent kiss.

It was Guo Chengyu who eventually pushed him away – surprisingly. He had brought Jiang Xiaoshuai so much into the mood that he even would’ve continued, wouldn’t have protested, even if Guo Chengyu would’ve wanted to take things much, much further.

His boyfriend was smiling at him though. “As much as I’d like to proceed with this…” He was eyeing Jiang Xiaoshuai’s lips which were now surely swollen. “You need to eat first. I can hear and feel your stomach grumbling.” A stern expression was on Guo Chengyu’s face. “I think that for a doctor, you aren’t taking care of yourself well, even though you should know that it’s important.”

Jiang Xiaoshuai softly touched Guo Chengyu’s cheek. “Well, I have you now. You can remind me to eat and you can take care of me.” He said, rather jokingly, but Guo Chengyu took his words way too seriously. “Well then, I guess I don’t have a choice but to start working at the clinic? So I can watch over you all the time.”

Jiang Xiaoshuai sighed. What had he gotten himself into? “Let’s eat first.” He then decided. He was truly incredibly hungry and the fact that Guo Chengyu was a really good cook was something he was very much aware of now. Maybe coercing him to cook for him wasn’t even too bad of an idea. But Guo Chengyu actually didn’t need to be coerced. He was already so smitten with Jiang Xiaoshuai.
