Summary:

A KidFic WIP:

The war over, the personnel home, Sydney tries to get Peg to see B.J.’s side of the story, explaining that not only does he love his son dearly, the boy loves him.

Yes, it may sound crazy.

But the craziest thing that anyone could ever do would be to try to split them up.

The cruelest thing? If they succeeded.

Chapter Text

”I can understand your concern Mrs. Hunnicutt, the whole thing must sound kind of crazy.”

She nods. “So you agree?”

“The only thing crazier still would be splitting them up.”

She gasps

”I understand it’s a shock.”

”Shock?! What the.... " she stopped short of the word she swore to herself to never say in their home. "M...My husband has a son!”

”I can only imagine.”

”You can imagine?!

"B.J. loves his son and the boy adores him.”

”Dammit! He just got home," She shoots angered eyes at both men. "I'm planning a weekend he’ll never forget… Erin off to grandparents…the house to ourselves…the beach… And what does he do?! Brings home a ....damn stray…”

”Hardly a stray…” the psychiatrist can’t help let go.

”And you! You knew too!!!” She points an accusatory finger at the older man. It was enough. Sidney left the comment alone.

“It’s a damn boy’s club!!! You can see it in the eyes and smirks of both.” She turned on her husband. "And this one... you never smiled like that when anyone mentioned Erin!"

"That's unfair." Now it was B.J.'s turn to go on the offensive, "Erin was just an infant when I was called up. We barely went out of the house..."

Sidney pursed his lips, offering Peg a sympathetic smile with his eyes. "And now you feel you can’t get in. Is that right?”

B.J., starting to sweat, offered a sheepish grin. But Peg stared him down. "Not even..." She batted back with a scowl, turning to address Sidney. "Yes. And I don’t need anyone to tell me that, doctor.”

"Yes, I can tell that. You certainly can fend for yourself..."

She stared at him with a firm head nod as he finally acquiesced, "All I can say is… like it or not … they are extremely fond of each other.”

"If you are trying to patronize me....Dr..."

"Me? Never."
