Work Text:
In silence, I watch you sleep,
Breathing soft in shadows deep.
Unknowing, yet you are the light
That anchors me to what is right.
You hold what's left, the fading part,
The fragile pulse within my heart.
I wished to leave you burden-free,
To walk the world unchained by me.
But soon, the threads will start to pull,
Your role, though quiet, will be full.
For as my self begins to wane,
You cradle what's still pure, humane.
And though I walk where pain is sown,
Still, in my dreams, I see it shown
I see you'll walk where I could not
Toward kinder days this world forgot.
