As the snow falls (my memories will be gone)

Summary:

There wasn’t much Chuuya remembered about being a child. He doesn’t remember his favourite park or most loved plushie. He didn’t recognise any parts of his previous life’s house- and he’d been there in person.

Funny enough, he did memorise one particular family tradition:

Work Text:

There wasn’t much Chuuya remembered about being a child. He doesn’t remember his favourite park or most loved plushie. He didn’t recognise any parts of his previous life’s house- and he’d been there in person.

Funny enough, he did memorise one particular family tradition:

New year’s: That one long day of the year he could stay up late! He would finally prove to his parents how big and grown up he was!

Snow covered every roof and every tree in Yokohama. The port was frozen still, even the fishermen seemed to have stopped their restless pacing and worrying.

Everyone wanted to see the fireworks the city organised every year.

Especially Chuuya.

Bundled up in a warm and cozy wintercoat and little gloves and a cute hat with bear ears the 5 year old gazed up at the sky. Well, as much as he could from next to his mother. He practically hanged off her hand at that point!

Why were all grownups so…grown up?? It didn’t make sense to him! They blocked his way!

“Dad, I can’t seeee!”, he whined, trying to look as devastated as he could. Well, he must’ve pulled the look off since his father - Kensuke Nakahara - squatted down to his level.

They shared a scheming glare.

A few seconds later (and definitely without getting the consent from Fuku…) Chuuya was standing 7ft. At least, that’s what it felt like to him!

“Mommy, look, I’m also a grown up now!”, he shouted happily. From up here, on his dad’s shoulders, he felt like he could conquer the world.

Fuku just smirked and said something along the lines of “i can see that” before adjusting his hat a little.

Minutes later, the last seconds of the year started: 10…9…8…People counted down together.

With big wide blue eyes Chuuya stared up at the sky. He loved the annual fireworks!

When the countdown hit 0 cheers exploded all around them. Fireworks went off and people hugged each other tightly. Some opened up sake bottles, ready to celebrate.

But Chuuya only had eyes for the pretty colours in the sky.

“Now, I hope you have some wishes ready, Chu-chu!” His mother said, looking at him with a loving look in her eyes.

It was tradition to “shoot up” wishes with every last firework. At least, it was one in their family!

“Of course I have! I’m not some stupid baby!” He smirked proudly.

<i wish to never lose my family>

It was a very mature wish. Well, Chuuya thought. He couldn’t tell the wish his parents or anyone! It wouldn’t come true then!

At 5 years old, he had wished for a family forever

20 years later, he was back at that very same bridge he first stood with his parents to watch the sky’s spectacle, and just wished for a normal life
