Chocolate Covered Kisses

Summary:

Remus is trying to study but soon gets interrupted by none other than Sirius.

or,

they flirt, kiss, and eat chocolate :)

Work Text:

Remus hated studying. Well, Remus hates lots of things, and studying just happened to be one of those things. Now that he thought about it, he liked very few things. Sirius Black was amongst those things; perhaps you could even say he loved him.

Remus would never dare to, though. He has a hard enough time talking to Sirius without bickering like an old married couple (at least, that’s how James liked to put it).

Remus kisses his teeth, tapping his paper with his quill a few times. He was currently in the library, books scattered amongst his work space. The sun was slowly setting, which meant he had been here for far too long. He was bored out of his mind, but he knew that if he didn’t do this, he’d likely have another detention for his lack of good grades.

“Guess who?” A voice says behind him as they wrap their hands around Remus’s head to cover his eyes.

He sighs and tosses their hands away from his face, “I know it’s you, Padfoot.”

Sirius pouts, leaning against the table, hands resting beside him. His hair was up today, a few strands left out of the messy bun he had done with his wand.

“You’re no fun, Moony. There's no point if you guess immediately.” He says before smiling, “How’d you know it was me?”

“I’ve lived in a dorm with you for 5 years,” He answers, looking up at Sirius. “I think it would be hard for me to not know it was you.”

Sirius smiles, tilting his head to the side slightly. “I guess you’re right.”

Remus nods curtly, turning back to his studies. At least, he would, but Sirius says shortly after, “I’ve got a present for you.”

“A present?”

“Mhm.” He nods, looking down at Remus, “Guess what it is and I’ll tell you.”

“I’m not in the mood for games, Sirius.” Remus sighs, but he closes his book anyway so he can turn fully in his chair to look at Sirius.

“Fine, fine,” Sirius hums, and his eyes sparkle with mystery. “You’re cranky today, Moony. Not a very good look on you.”

What is? He wanted to reply, but he just stayed silent, waiting patiently for Sirius to show his present.

Sirius adjusts himself, standing up straight with his hands in his pockets. “I know you’ve been complaining because you haven’t had the chance to head over to Hogsmeade and buy some sweets, so..” He trails off, pulling out a big handful of chocolate sweets.

Remus furrows his eyebrows, “When did you..?”

“Had a free period today. Slughorn cancelled class today because someone weirdly turned his entire classroom purple.” He hums, a sly smirk on his face.

Remus scoffs, taking the sweets from Sirius and setting them on the table, not skipping a beat to start unwrapping one. “Wonder who.”

Sirius grins, watching Remus. “A complete mystery, moonbeam. This beats studying, hm?”

“Anything will beat studying,” Remus says with a mouthful of chocolate. “McGonagall’s been up my ass with assignments this month. Not to mention I’ve got to write a stupid essay ‘from the heart’, but I don’t even know what that bloody means.” He sighs, leaning back in his chair.

Sirius nods. “You’re a smart bloke, Moony. I’m sure you’ll figure it out. Even if you don’t, Evans’ll probably be able to help you unless she’s not too busy snogging Prongs.” He snorts, “Can’t believe he finally convinced her to go out with him.”

“Yeah, do you know when the hell that started?” Remus shakes his head in disbelief, a small smile on his face. “Lucky bastard. Only he would be able to win a girl over after the shit he’s done.”

Sirius laughs softly, shoulders shaking as he leans in slightly. Remus sighs, looking back up at him. “Thanks for the chocolates. I have been a bit pissed that I haven’t been able to get them.”

“Well, you know me, Remus. I’m just a sneaky bastard looking out for you.” Sirius hums, and Remus decides then that he quite likes this moment. The two didn’t have many soft moments like these: the kinds where they were simply two boys who could care about each other without worrying about their reputations or status.

He nods, smiling at Sirius softly. “Best get back to it, then.”

“Yeah.” His voice was soft, and it seemed like he didn’t really want to leave. Remus would be fine with that. Honestly, he’d let Sirius do whatever the hell he wants, but he can’t exactly say that, can he?

He opens up his book again, finding the last page he was on. He should probably start working on that essay soon, but he didn’t exactly know what he could make it about. From the heart is a very broad statement and the possibilities were endless–

“Moony?” Sirius asks, now sitting down beside Remus.

“Hm?” He replies, not looking up from his book.

“Why haven’t you got a girlfriend?” He asks, “I just- surely you’ve been offered.”

Remus furrows his eyebrows. Why the hell is Sirius interested in his love life? Who is Remus kidding? he doesn’t have one. Besides pining for one of his best friends, he’s never wanted anybody, and even if somebody did ask him out, he wouldn’t say yes.

The whole werewolf and awkwardness thing he had going on was a pretty good reason to not date.

“I..just don’t have the time.” Remus has been offered to date a few times, actually. The most recent girl was Cindy Waters, a 5th year hufflepuff. He liked Cindy– she was a sweet enough girl– but she wasn’t Sirius.

Nobody would ever come close to Sirius in Remus’s books. Sirius was.. perfect. Seriously. Remus doubts that he could find a single flaw about Sirius.

“Piss off. If Lily Evans can date, so can you.” Sirius says.

“Lily isn’t me.”

“You’re right.” Sirius says, “but that still doesn’t explain why you don’t date.”

“Why don’t you date? You haven’t dated anybody since Mary, and I know that it was a mutual breakup, so you should be completely fine to date.” Remus argues, looking at him.

He was close, and he smelled like fresh air. Remus has been suffocating up until this point and he didn’t even know it. Sirius is silent for a moment as his grey eyes look at Remus.

“I just think I should take a break from dating.” Sirius says with a soft voice. “Find out what I really like, you know?”

“Really like?” Remus repeats. “I don’t think it takes a genius to know what type of girl you're into, mate.”

Sirius lets out a huff of air as he runs a hand through his hair. “That’s not what I mean and you know it.”

Remus taps the table, chewing on his lip. He did know what Sirius meant. Well, as much as he could know. Sirius was a complicated bloke and Remus doubts that Sirius has told a single person besides the Marauders about his family history. He was probably just waiting for the right girl or some cheesy shit like that.

“Okay, so you aren’t dating.” Remus says.

“Mm, no. I’m open to dating.” Sirius corrects him, hands on his knees. “I’m just not going to be head over heels about a random girl.”

“So, what, you want to date a girl you really know or something?” Remus asks, “You do realize in order to do this you have to be nice to a girl and not talk about her body, right?”

Sirius rolls his eyes, “Piss off, Moony. I can be nice!”

“I’ll believe it when I see it.” Remus says in a sort of smile, shrugging one shoulder.

“Well, seeing as you’ve never had a girlfriend, I don’t think you can judge me.” Sirius retorts, leaning back in his chair, his arm resting over the back of it.

“Okay, but like you said, I’ve been offered.”

“And why didn’t you take those offers, dear Moony?”

Because I’m in love with you, you stupid prat.

“Because I’m not one to date random girls.” Remus says, “I’m not a slag like you.”

“I think we literally just established that I’m not a slag, thank you.”

“No, we established that you aren’t dating anymore, but we never said you aren’t shagging.” Remus explains, and Sirius smirks at the thought of it.

He lets out a snort, “I guess you’re right.”

“Can I get back to studying now?” Remus asks, and he reaches for his quill, but Sirius grabs it before he can.

“No.”

“Sirius–“

“We haven’t hung out in ages, Moony!” Sirius whines, “And I’m not done talking to you.”

“Because the topic of you shagging someone is such a good conversation.”

“Oh, you wish you could shag me.” Sirius hums, twirling the quill around in his hand as if he wasn’t completely right about what he just said. Why is he so normal about that?

“As if I’d sleep with a slag like you,” Remus shakes his head. “And do you have to make those jokes?”

Sirius smiles, shrugging. “James thinks they’re funny.”

“I’m not James, am I?”

“No, you’re definitely not.”

“Meaning?”

Sirius just smiles a little wider, and he hands Remus his quill back. “Meaning I like your jokes a lot better.”

Remus rolls his eyes. “I’m not that funny.”

“I think you are.”

Remus wants to kiss him. Okay, that might be a bit.. much, but Sirius says all these things and Remus doesn’t know how to feel about them. How is Remus just supposed to skip past that?

“Odd, seeing as I find you and James a lot more funnier than me.” Remus replies, looking down at his hands. He feels a bit awkward now. He’s always awkward, but he’s acutely aware of it now.

“Oh, please. I mean,” Sirius snickers, “I am hilarious but not in the same way that you are. You’re funny without trying to be. It’s one of the many things I like about you?”

Stop saying shit like that.

“I aim to please.” Remus murmurs out in a bit of a low voice, and Sirius smiles, laughing softly.

“And please you do,” He replies.

Maybe it was the way Sirius said it, or maybe he was just delusional, but Remus felt like this moment was getting a lot more intimate than originally planned. The thought of it makes Remus’s neck feel warm, so he busied his hands with another piece of chocolate, crinkling up the wrapper once he popped the sweet into his mouth.

“No wonder you run out of chocolate so quickly.” Sirius jokes, taking the wrapper and unraveling it to smooth it out. “You’re an addict, Moony. An unhealthy addict. You think you’d be a lot less lanky than you are.”

“Don’t be a prick.” He tsks, tossing the balled up wrapper at Sirius’s face.

“I’m not.” Sirius says, “Just an observation.”

“A stupid one.”

“Don’t be like that, Remus.” Sirius says, “We were doing good; we weren’t bickering.”

“Was that the goal of you coming here and distracting me?” Remus asks, leaning forward slightly with his elbows on his knees.

“No, of course not. It’s a good bonus, though.” He hums out, smiling. “Like I said, I just bloody missed you, twat. I’ve been stuck with Wormtail and his boring chess while you were out doing your prefect things and James was out doing.. well, Evans.”

“You missed me?”

Sirius smiles softly, and Remus can see a hint of blush beneath the dim lighting of the library. “Fine, yes you idiot. I missed you.”

Remus can’t even hide the small smile on his face. “Sap.”

“Fuck off, alright? I brought you chocolate.” Sirius laughs, tossing the candy wrapper back at Remus, and Remus laughs too.

“I already thanked you, didn’t I?”

“It wasn’t a proper one.” Sirius decides, “I think I deserve another.”

“Really?” He scoffs, “And how do you suggest I do that?” He asks, putting the wrappers back on the table. Once he turned his head back to Sirius, he was a lot closer. The two were face to face, kind of just staring at each other.

Remus falters slightly, his eyes meeting Sirius’s. Sirius opens his mouth like he’s about to say something, but nothing comes out. Remus swallows the lump in his throat, which causes Sirius to bite his lower lip nervously, but he smiles softly when he’s Remus’s gaze on his lips.

“I can think of a few ways.” Sirius says, and Remus almost forgot what the hell he even asked. How can he focus on anything when he can feel Sirius’s breath on his face and smell his cologne?

“And what might those be?” Remus croaks out, and he realizes how pathetic he sounds. Sirius hums, tilts his head to the side and kisses Remus.

Holy fucking shit. Sirius Black just kissed him.

Remus was too busy convincing himself that he did indeed just kiss Sirius to kiss him back before he pulled away. When he did, Remus didn’t wait a single second before grabbing him from the back of his neck and pulling him into another kiss.

Sirius lets out a small grunt of surprise, but he kisses Remus back as he brings a hand up into Remus’s hair.

It’s a little shocking how quick the kiss gets heated. Maybe it was from the years of waiting, or just because the two had wanted this for so long. Either way, Remus was content.

The kiss tasted of chocolate, and Sirius smiled into the kiss when Remus’s hand grabbed Sirius’s waist. Honestly, Remus could’ve been dead and this was his heaven.

“About bloody time.” A voice says from behind them. The two pull away, staring at each other for a second with flushed cheeks and red lips. Remus turned, and it was none other than James.

“Prongs!” Sirius says, clearing his throat and wiping his lips. “I didn’t..”

“Relax,” James snorts, “I was just in here to return some of Lily’s books and thought I would check on Moony since he was supposed to be studying.”

“Well, er– I was.” Remus grunts out. James grins.

“Pete is going to be fucking ecstatic.”
