Kanade was working at her desk, finishing up a new song, when Mafuyu came up behind her and hugged her, resting her head on Kanade’s.
“Mafuyu?”
“Hm?” Mafuyu whispered.
“You okay?”
“Mhm, just tired.”
Kanade looked at the time, it was 4am and she’d have to get up soon for school.
“You should sleep, it’s really late.”
“… Okay…” Mafuyu slowly straightened up and pulled out Kanade’s chair to pick her up and take her to bed, carrying the short girl bridal style.
“M-Mafuyu?!” Kanade yelped, blushing.
Mafuyu was too tired to say anything, and wasn’t exactly thinking clearly, so she just silently walked to the bed and set Kanade down before getting in next to her. Mafuyu cuddled up close to Kanade and pulled her into her chest, holding her tightly. Kanade was stunned for a moment, but eventually relaxed onto her and wrapped her arms around Mafuyu, pressing against her body. Mafuyu sighed softly and relaxed as well, finally able to rest after a long day of nothing but work.
They laid there in silence for a moment, Kanade trying to work up the courage to ask something and fiddling with Mafuyu’s shirt.
“Umm… Mafuyu?”
“What is it, Kanade?”
Kanade took a deep breath. “Could you maybe… skip school tomorrow? I know it’s a lot to ask, but you’ve been so overworked— I think you need a break.”
Mafuyu was slightly taken aback by the question. “I can’t, I need to prepare for the entrance exams.”
“Right…” Kanade whispered.
Kanade didn’t want her to go, she knew she’d just come back stressed and overworked again. Even so, she knew she couldn’t fight her on her stance, so she let it go. Instead, she thought to comfort her tonight so she wouldn’t be tired in the morning. Kanade scooted up in bed and instead held Mafuyu against her chest, holding her tightly.
Mafuyu was caught off guard, but didn’t complain, just hugging her girlfriend back and closing her eyes. Usually it was Mafuyu holding Kanade like this, but this was a nice change.
“Mmph…” Mafuyu groaned, pressing her face against Kanade’s body.
Kanade, in return, squeezed Mafuyu a little tighter. Mafuyu looked up at the composer, staring into her eyes for a moment before kissing her jaw. Kanade’s eyes widen for a moment, then soften when she looks back down at her girlfriend. She leaned in and kissed her forehead, making Mafuyu grip her shirt. Kanade pulled back slightly when she felt her grip tighten.
“You okay?” Kanade whispered against her lyricist’s skin.
“Yes… keep doing that.”
Kanade smiled and continued kissing her forehead for a few moments. And eventually, the purple haired girl fell fast asleep, her grip still tight on Kanade’s shirt. Kanade pulled her flush against her body and kissed her one last time before finally going to sleep as well, both cuddling each other the whole night.
In the morning, Mafuyu woke up first and looked up to see Kanade still deeply asleep. She stared for a moment, then kissed her cheek and ran her hand through the composer’s hair. This caused her to stir awake, groaning a little.
“Mafuyu…?”
“Good morning.”
“Morning…” Kanade mumbled as she rubbed her eye. “What time is it?”
“5:30.” Mafuyu kissed her cheek again.
Kanade blushed. “Okay… you need to get up soon, right?”
“Yes, right now, actually. Go back to sleep.” Mafuyu said, resting on her elbow and scratching the composers head, making her groan again.
“Mmph… okay…” Kanade was being surprisingly complacent, but maybe she was just tired from working so much.
She pulled Mafuyu down to cuddle her again, stuffing her face into her neck and kissing her there softly.
“K-Kanade—“
“5 more minutes…”
Oh, that’s why she was so complacent, she was feeling needy. How could Mafuyu refuse her? She was just so cuddly and sweet, and she already had trouble sleeping, so her actually resting was surprising to say the least. She, in fact, needed to stay.
Mafuyu was already getting tired again, maybe she could benefit for a day off school. Study for the exams could wait, after all, being well rested was incredibly important in good performance.
Mafuyu hugged Kanade closer and kissed her forehead, intertwining their legs and tightening her grip. Anxiety she didn’t even know was there stared to fade away as her and her lover both fell asleep again.
