Work Text:
It was another day in this god forsaken killing game; Trapped inside a so called school but who actually knows where. Wenona woke up one day feeling eeriely tired..
Her roommate - Ulysses, was surprisingly not in their shared dorm. Figured he probably went out for breakfast first, Wenona slowly rose and moved out of her bed. It is rather strange though, normally he'd probably be asleep (on the table) after an all nighter, so the entrepreneur sort of wondered what got him up so early today.
———
Arriving at the dining area, she suddenly locked eyes with a certain red head - Cassidy Amber, who gave her quite a stern or rather.. weird look as usual. Wenona just groaned to herself as she looked away and around the room; However there was no sight of the historian, leaving Wenona clueless of his whereabouts.
Having already arrived anyways, Wenona decided to follow her daily routine that she created in this setting - which is now breakfast - but she felt no appetite.. In fact, a strange wave of nausea was hurting her head. She held tightly onto the kitchen counter, attempting to balance herself when she heard the door bust open. Wenona and some others in the room looked up to see Ulysses, breathing heavily like he ran a mile, which he kinda did..
"Wenona! There you are!" He called out, making the cast including the woman herself clueless.
Ulysses walked up to the entrepreneur, reached into his pockets, taking out a small bag of pills :
"Your temperature was.. incredibly hot.. I think you might have a fever" he said worryingly.
Wenonas eyes widened a little, quickly putting her hand on her forehead; My god.. she was abnormally hot to have "just a fever"..
Despite that, she only smiled back : "I'm fine Ulysses, i think i just need a little rest"
"Look, im gonna sound over the top but, dont underestimate flus Wenona, they can be deadly.."
.. They both went silent, not sure what to respond when a voice popped in between them :
"That is where you're correct!" It was Tozu. The two leaned back in surprised, Wenona slightly bumping her head into the back cupboard.
"Has anyone here noticed a lack of students in this very morning?" Everyone looked around - That's right; Damon, Mark, and a few others haven't arrived..
"Well, such a shame I *STILL* can't make a grand announcement to everyone but i suppose I'll speak to each missing person later.." Tozu pretended to wipe a tear off his eye then swiftly returned to his form, deviously chucking along,
"I am here to announce our second motive.. May I introduce, the Despair Disease!" The masked man exclaimed loudly, a chill ran down Wenona's spine.
"Students who have caught this virus will have the basics of a common flu; Examples are - temperature changes, lack of energy and appetite, oh you know the drill. However, what truly makes up for its name are its various forms of, well, I suppose 'despair', able to change almost *everything* about you in and out.. BUUTT! Im not telling you what it does if you do manage to catch it~" Tozu explained in a cheerful tone, even with the mask, everyone can clearly see the absolute joy in his eyes.
"Oh but a quick mention, the disease is infections so do be wary of your partner and of course yourself! And if no murder occurs within the remaining time.. Well you can all enjoy enduring a slow death!!" He bid farewell as he slid through the crowd and out of the door. 'Damnit.. Was this his way of separating our roommate??'
Sure enough, there was a tense atmosphere in the room. Wenona never liked following Wolfgang's orders (or anyone's), but now without a proper leader, she can't think of how to get out of this situation.. especially when everyone is aware of her "earlier fever announcement". Unsurprisingly, she looked up to see multiple eyes on her.
"Im going back to my room" Wenona said in her usual cold demeanor,
"And dont follow me Ulysses.." she ran to the door and into the hallway.
*DAMN TOZU!! He couldve at least revealed my variation, how and where did this 'Despair Disease' even come from anyways?!* All the entrepreneur could think about was the disease she had unknowingly caught.
—————
Some time had passed but the brunette had done nothing but paced around her room, laying down when her head ached, but strangely, rather than feeling the usual flu like a moment ago, she now felt empty.. or her heart was at least..
Wenona had a past, and knew she had to abandon her humanity to get where she is now, but there was never a day where she felt regret.. Could that be her variation symptom? Some 'Guilt Disease'? But it's more than that, something the woman cant put her finger on it..
[ .. But would you believe me when I say a single door knock would lead her to all the unanswered.. ]
Suddenly all her thoughts were cut off by a knock on the door. Soon one knock came after another, so it didnt take long for annoyance to take over Wenona,
"Dont bother coming in Ulysses, I thought I told you─"
"Its me.." a calm voice cut off Wenona's.. it was Cassidy's.
[ Now hang on a second. Cassidy? You mean THE Cassidy Amber? The obnoxious yet big hearted gamer slash streamer?? Calm?? ]
"Got a change of heart or something?" The brunette called out from her bed.
"No but can you come out? We're having a discussion about the motive and I was 'unfortunately' asked to come get you over" The red head replied unamusingly, grumbling a little mid line, but something in that tone.. struck in the older woman.
Curious and weirdly anxious, Wenona only dared peaking through the small hole on her door.. Cassidy was intensely staring back at her.
The brunette instinctively stumbled back, tripping down in the progress. There was a weird look in the gamers eyes.. Lust, love, a terrifying amount of interest. Her eyes begging Wenona to let her in. Her smile wide, like you can almost hear her giggles though separated by a door. She was so close Wenona could practically feel her inside the room.
Everything made her aquamarine eyes blurry, her mind feeling heavy and twisting like her brain is ripping itself apart. Its almost hallucinogenic. Thats when it hit her.
On trembling legs, Wenona successfully managed to stand up, wobbling her way to the door again;
Her body weigh heavy on the wooden door as she spoke her loudest whisper,
"Theres no use of me.. being there.." another wave of nausea filling her mouth, "everyone knows.. im sick.."
No matter how hard Wenona tried to stay and sound stable, she couldnt utter another word. The entrepreneur slammed her hand on her mouth tight, while pressing her ear against the door.
"Hah.. i didnt know Ms Capitalist had such audible moans" .. what??
"Heart softened Wenona? Who knew you could be so weak when hurt!" The gamer suddenly bursted out laughing. Questions were spiraling in Wenona.
'What in the actual hell is going on?'
[ I mean Cassidy isn't wrong. At the end of the day, Wenona is still human whether she wanted to acknowledge that or not and obviously you're gonna be mentally and physically weaker when ill, but.. ]
'What is Cassidy going on about and.. why?
Everyone knew "Ms Capitalist" and "The Communist" dont get along well, but why would Cassidy go all her way here to just spit words at Wenona?
'Why is she not wrong ab what Wenona is feeling?'
'Why.. is she interested in wanting to hear more?..'
Wenona eyed the peephole, but it was too far out of her vision. At this point, her mind and body was a total mess. She couldn't think and could barely move..
[ But we all know how greedy Wenona can be when the topic is getting what she wants. ]
With every ounce of strength available, she slid her body down slowly, enough for her to look through the peephole.. Cassidy was still staring at her.. but much more intensely, like screaming for her attention. Ranging colors and shapes were forming around the red head. It didn't feel like two but multiple eyes intensely yet passionately piercing its gaze at Wenona.
The entrepreneur felt like she was on a toxic dose of something. Its sensual yet loving.. but not in a good way. Desperate for more.. but on her or the other side of door?
And the cause of all this? Cassidy fucking Amber.
Wenona felt sick. She is sick, but more than that. She doesnt want to break the double contact in-between the wooden door. She doesnt hate the piercing stares from the back of her head. She doesnt want to stop the blood pumping to near heart explosion in her. This heart.. hurts more than anything.. but she loves it.
These new cravings hungers the brunette, she only wanted more of these feelings. But in all honesty, more than all, she wants to inflict it back onto the red head. She'll scar so hard they'll burn with even a spec of memory. She'll tear the tears out of Cassidys eyes then drink up the tears from her dissected heart. She'll embrace her..
Every thought pumps her fever higher. Her mind on cloud nine. All she had to.. wanted to.. needed to.. was to open the door.
Wenona finally broke the seemingly forever eye contact and twisted the door knob..
...
However.. Instead of an unstable, lust-filled Cassidy, it was a girl with eyes of concern, worry and.. care. Her hands holding a small plastic bag - it was the pack Ulysses tried giving to Wenona before she left.
It was all.. fake? Was it all fake? Their eyes met one another.. But there was only a gentle ambience. It was almost.. disappointing.. the brunette then realized, she was hallucinating. SHE'S the unstable and desperate one, who was too lusted in her heat of sickness. In some way (I suppose), it was real, but the majority was still fake..
...
[ .. Or so what? At least the mystery has been solved : ]
"Wenona, The Ultimate Entrepreneur, has a case of 'The Lovesick Disease'"
The brunette grabbed the red head's wrists, her hands travelling up to the other, slowly intertwining them together. Eyes were locked on once again as Cassidy stared in confusion. Wenona could only chuckle,
"You don't mind getting sick do you?" Her tone serious but also soft, patiently waiting for an answer, for her next move.
Cassidy only froze in place, unable to understand what the entrepreneur meant. Her green eyes looked up for an answer, but was only met with a pair of heart pounding aquamarine eyes. The heat from Wenonas palms were starting to burn, but there was something that burned even more.. Cassidy's face.
No words were needed after, Wenona smiled back; Satisfied. Cassidy broke off the intense contact, looking left and right then down to her feet. The gamer thought for a while. She shot a quick glance at Wenona then lightly dropped the pills in the hall, front of Wenonas dorm.
The deal was sealed, its like the nauseated fever had vanished in the brunette. Hand in hand, Wenona pulled Cassidy into her dorm, door locked shut once again. Forget about getting sick by the Despair Disease, lets hope everyone doesnt get sick of the noises behind the dorm room.
