Work Text:

The basement was thick with the smell of pizza and the sound of laughter from the losers sprawled across the cold floor. A circle had been formed pillows, and soda cans around its edges. Bev’s Root-beer bottle spun rapidly in the center, the glass reflecting the dim yellow light from the overhead bulb.

Eddie had been hoping it wouldn’t land on him. No, seriously. He’d been quietly thinking to himself, pressed against the wall, knees pulled up, pretending he didn’t care while his heart was spinning faster than the bottle.

The bottle came to a slow stop landing on Richie, who rubbed his hands together made kissy lips and spun the bottle again.

Then, just as cruel fate would have it, the spin had of course, landed on Eddie.

Richie grinned, already standing, wiggling his eyebrows. “Looks like Ed’s and I are about to have a sexual awakening.” He announced in his best, “villain voice” rubbing his hands together.

“Kill me,” Eddie whispered to Stan, but his cheeks burned as he got up and walked towards the closet.

The second the door clicked shut, Eddie swore the air thickened, feeling like it could choke him. Eddie separated himself pushing against the opposite of the wall, blankly staring at Richie.

“So,” Richie’s voice was low, smug but… not entirely teasing. “Seven whole minutes. What’re we gonna do, handsome?”

Eddie swallowed, blush coating his cheeks. “Not talk, preferably.”

Richie pouted, “that’s no fun Ed’s, you’re not playing the game right.”

“How do you ‘play right’?” Eddie asked, doing finger quotes.

Richie took that comment to pin Eddie to the wall, hands on either side of his head. Eddie’s breath hitched.

“Tell me to stop,” Richie choked, and there wasn’t any of that usual bite in his tone just something raw, almost pleading.

Eddie’s heart is the only thing that stopped. As he blankly looked at Richie, not a thought in his mind saying “stop.”

So, Richie lightly brought the tips of his fingers under Eddie’s chin, lifting his head up to kiss him. When their lips connected neither of them wanted to stop.

Eddie’s hands messily going into Richie’s hair as they kissed. Richie smiled and snuck his hand under Eddie’s shirt, starting to kiss down his neck, making the boy against the wall almost lose his balance.

“30 seconds!!” Bev yelled from the other side of the door, knocking heavily.

Eddie pushed Richie back. Then, looking at the closed door quickly grabbed his shirt, kissing him again. Before leaning back against the wall pretending to be casual.

Bev yanked the door open, Eddie walking out first, a faint blush covering his face, and Richie, unable to even move until Bev physically dragged him out of the closet.

For the rest of the night, the tension could cut air. A while after everyone feel asleep Eddie crawled over to Richie’s sleeping corner.

“Hey Ed’s.”

Eddie stopped in his tracks, thinking Richie was asleep, or at least not awake waiting for him.

“I thought you were asleep.” He whispered

“Got a lot on my mind, ya know?” Richie weakly smiled over at Eddie.

“Me too.”

“I love you Eddie.” Richie said, barely audible.

Eddies kissed him again, connecting their foreheads.

“I love you too Rich.”

Richie cupped Eddie’s face, kissing him again, and again and again. Kissing all over his face and hugging him like he could never let go after.

Eddie giggled, “you’re such an idiot.”

“Always will be yours Kaspbrak.”
