The truth of Unharmonic Dissonance

Summary:

Whole finally has to start coming to terms with why Harmony is so important, and what a Split without Harmony can do to Himself and his thirds.
(My AU)

Notes:

Hey guys, Ill be pretty honest I've just been writing this new AU in my free-time since school started up and its oh so boring.
Of course this will have more chapters, and this entire chapter one (was three pages on paper) is destined to change haha. Have fun reading and comment if you wish!

Chapter 1: The Beginning of Dissonance.

Chapter Text

He sat down against a broken wall, ash and dust all around. Whole had been here a bit now. He turned his left hand over looking at the wrist, there was a timer written out in his skin, hued a shimmering orange.

Almost three days now, Whole had looked in on himself expecting to check on Soul, Heart, and Mind, instead, he had found this mess. They were rabid, at least Heart and Mind were Whole, hadn't seen Soul yet. And so-far Whole hadn't found his way out either. He didn't know how to get out, since normally they harmonized, and he was free to go.

They weren't harmonized, nowhere close. And Heart and Mind weren't even talking, just murmurs. Whole didn't even know where he was; a rundown mansion, or that's what he thought, it seemed infinite. It also seemed impossible. Entire walls and rooms missing. This was not the psyche-space Whole was used to. They used to have rooms, a nice house, even a garden outside.

This was all wrong.

He could hear the sound down the hall of someone approaching. It was loud and growling, probably Heart. Whole would need to be silent. Heart had some good hearing after all. Whole was quick climbing into the broken hole in the wall, he pulled his body in close against the back of the hole, a growl, followed by a pained groan. The footsteps, got louder as Heart, ran down the hall blindly. The sound faded as quickly as it came, as Heart kept going down further halls and corners.

Whole let out the air he had been holding in. He relaxed himself as best he could. He really didn't want to get caught. Whole didn't know what happens if they catch him, presumably they would attack him, but he doesn't know if he can die, and Whole didn't want to test it. Normally he would think this is just a dream, but it felt too real, after all he was still aching after the chase on his 1st day here. Reluctantly, it seemed like Heart was gone for now. So Whole carefully climbed out of the broken hole. His stomach was hurting again. He was really hungry. Thinking back, he hasn't seen any food yet, man, he really was unlucky.

The hallway looked pretty confusing already, though it vaguely resembled the original home. Photos on the walls that Whole faintly remembered. Most of them were smashed and paintings torn, some hung barely on the wall. Weirdly, he didn't see any photos of himself. Had he truly been that distant? No.. Whole was sure Soul had photos of him!.. Right? Who knows that wasn't his focus right now anyway. Whole was looking for food. He had been for 2 hours now. Whole turned his wrist over looking at the time.

He was an hour away from midnight. He would need to shelter soon. Midnight was weird Heart and mind seemed more active, but also... sad. They cried, or it sounded like crying. The sound always made Whole sick and very uncomfortable. They sounded pained, and it always twisted him the wrong way.

Finally, he stumbled upon the kitchen or what he thought was the kitchen. A few cabinets, counters, and... jackpot, refrigerator! Whole was quick to open it. Strangely it was working, chilled air and yellow lights hitting him in the moody, dark kitchen. Finally, some food. There was fruit, alot of fruits and Whole, of course, took an orange.
