Summary:

A fanfic set up like a variety show (just like the muppet show :0 Thats craaaazzyyyy) multiple short chapters that have very little to do with each other. I guess normal people would call that a collection of one shots but idc.
All about the muppets and how I see them!

Chapter 1: Wayne and Wanda (but mostly Wanda)

Chapter Text

It’s 8 pm and Wayne and Wanda are walking to the muppet studio holding each other tight. Suddenly Wanda hesitates.

“Wayne… I’m scared.”

“Wanda, it’s going to be okay. This time will be different I promise.”

Wanda nods her head slowly as they walk through the revolving doors. The studio is silent, they walk past Kermit’s desk in the hall which has the show plans for the night, his Kermit mug sat empty on its side. They split up and each sit in their dressing rooms.

Wanda always has to get there early to kill her nerves and put on her giant dress. She sits on a bench, closes her eyes, and takes a deep breath. As her eyes are closed she feels a fimiliar presence just like she does every week.

“Do you need something Camilla?”

Wanda has no idea why Camilla comes so early, she doesn’t tend to have any costumes or lines. But every night, Camilla stands in the door and stares at Wanda while she does her ritual. There is usually a “bakaw” in response but Wanda hears something else…

“Waaaandaaaa…”
The sound was ghostly and faint but shes sure it was her name.

She jolts her eyes open to see the door open but no one there. She jumps up and runs to the men’s dressing room to get Wayne. She hesitates for a moment. She doesn’t want to blow this out of proportions and bother Wayne but then she hears the same voice again…

“Maaarble pillaaarrr…”

She jumps again and knocks rapidly on the dressing room door.

“WAYNE!! WE NEED TO LEAVE!!!”

“One moment Wanda! Let me finish putting on my shoes…”

“NOW WAYNE! I can’t do this again!”

Wayne slowly walks up to the door opening it to see Wanda’s pale face and tries to hold back a chuckle.

“What is it this time? Did you see a stage light hanging loose?”

“No-“

“Then I don’t want to hear it honey. Unless you can find a different show for us this is what we’ve got”

“But I-“

“Sam wants us on this show, that means we’re on the show. Now go get your frilly dress on.”

He shuts the door.

For a moment, silence.

For a moment, Wanda stood there.

For a moment, she waited.

When she got a tap on her shoulder she turned around quickly.

“Wanda, are you feeling okay? Why are you in front of the men's room?..”

It was just Kermit. She sighed with relief.

“Yes Kermit, I’m okay… just nervous for the show is all.”

“Ah, well I’m sure it’ll all be fine. Good luck tonight!”

And he walked away.

When Wanda got back to the dressing room Camilla already sitting there. She put on her tights, her crinoline, her corset, she took deep breaths for about 30 minutes, then rushed to get the rest of her costume on, do her make up, and do her hair.

She ended up running to the stage and on her way all she could hear was Kermit saying “good luck” to her. It repeated in her mind.

“Why didn’t he just say break a leg?..”

“Did he mean something by it?..”

Then the same ghostly voice from the beginning of the night decided to chime in.

“Marbleee pillaaaaar..”

She stopped dead in her tracks, then began walking slowly past the curtains on the side of the stage, and practically tip-toed past the marble pillar set pieces.

The curtains opened revealing the audience.

She smiled.

She always loved singing.

She came here to sing.

So she sang.

“I am sixteen going on seventeen-“

CRASH

One of the marble pillars fell just barely missing Wanda.

A silence for a moment.

Time seemed to slow down as Wanda stared at the second pillar falling down on her.

She knew from the beginning.

“This always happens”

She thought frozen in time.

“Alwa-“
