"That should be me"

Summary:

Joseph is jealous of your mini pet Joseph..

Work Text:

Ever since you got a mini pet-version of your lover, joseph, he’s been jealous.

It follows you everywhere like a little pet. Swinging it’s tiny sword at other survivors like it wants to protect you, how adorable.

Your mini Joseph even tried to warn you during a match, when your real partner Joseph was hunting. It jumped on top of your cipher machine and waved its tiny arms to direct you away.

But of course your hunter partner wasn't intending to hit you. He only wanted to check up.

Then he saw it. “That little... pest”

.-.. .- - . .-.

During once match in particular against Joseph, you and two other survivors were at the exit gate, decoding like champions.

Your little mini-Joseph was doing a little dance and ran around you in circles to show it’s joy. Luca and Ada were putting up graffiti on the wall with it, smiling and laughing.

Everyone seemed to be fond of it, except Joseph.

Your lover wasn’t a fan of that small creature, mainly because it got so much attention from you. Not an unhealthy amount, but enough to make him glare at it from across the room with disbelief.

Why did Joseph hate your precious pet so much? Maybe if it was just another object in your room that would be fine. But no.

It’s the fact that you take it everywhere that makes him jealous.

You cuddle it in bed, hug it so tightly and give it kisses. Joseph couldn't help but feel almost left out, despite that it was literally a mini version of him.

At night, he glared down at it in your arms, while he’s holding onto you himself. He gently puts a hand between you and the mini Joseph and shoves it away. But then you get sad in the morning when you think you lost it and find it under the bed.

“Awh, my baby” Joseph hears you coo at it when you pick it up to squeeze and pat its head.

You brush its hair and tie a little bow on the back of it’s head, just like your partner’s actual hair style. You treat it so kindly, almost as a beloved companion.

“That should be me” the French man thinks, imagining if he could shrink that small and be carried around with you all day like the most important thing in the world.

Heck, now the little guy even got a spot at your dinner table. You made a little mini chair for it and everything. Even though it doesn't really eat, you still bring it along.

Joseph looks across the table at it. Unamused.

“Why are you bringing that thing everywhere?” He tries to sound polite, but it doesn't come out that way.

You look from the mini Joseph to your real Joseph and smile a bit.
“Because he reminds me of you. And I love you so much.”

Joseph looks at you, then the mini him.
“But this is getting absurd. Can’t you just do those things with me?..” he sighs as he looks down at his dinner.

You felt a little bad, realizing he wasn’t fond of it. But more because you could tell he wanted that attention. And it was sweet to want that.

“He’s just.. my little guy. Y’know?” You pat the mini’s head, gently.

Your lover is silent for a brief moment. His fingers tap on the table cloth in thought.

Then he speaks in a... softer tone.

“I’m right here too. Why not me?” Joseph proclaims, giving up the non-chalant facade.

A few seconds go by, you look over at him. How his eyes were tired, and a frown over his usual light hearted face.

How could something so small make him this displeased? You didn't understand it. But that didn't mean there was no communication or sympathy to be felt.

You put out your arms to your beloved and gave him soft eyes.
“I’m sorry, Joseph. Can you come here, sweetheart?” You cooed, giving him a smile.

Your beloved hesitatently got out of his chair and kneeled down, plopping his head on your shoulder.

You brushed your hands down his hair and slowly took out his extravagant red hair-tie. Joseph’s hair fell over his face and shoulders, so soft like silk.

His body remained motionless for a minute. Then his arms joined and hugged around your torso.

Joseph grumbled. “I’m going to need more than this, angel” he uttered quietly, prying for some more affection.

“Do you wanna go to bed, love?” You gazed down at him, admiring how pretty he looked while tired.

“Mmm.. oui, mon cher” his cheek pressed against your shoulder, giving him a pouty look.
“So adorable,” you thought, looking at him.

“C’mon, off to bed, dear.” You stood up and pulled him along, his head remained laying on your shoulder, arms wrapped around you like you were his personal walker.

He tiredly stepped alongside you until you reached the bedroom and he collapsed right onto his king sized bed, arms out and hair undone all over the place.

Joseph moaned some unbearable words into the soft pillows and turned his head to face you.
“Viens m’embrasser, please..”’ he muttered out desperately.

You climbed into bed with him and brushed hair strands out of his face. “What was that, love?”

He gazed up at you, lips soft and pinkish, eyes squinting.

“Kiss me right now.”
