Chapter Text
That familiar empty feeling filled his stomach. Hikaru was gone. He wasn't really. But that made it hurt more. Yoshiki lay curled up in bed, in that space between awake and asleep. Slowly drifting to nowhere in particular. The low buzz of a fly circling his lamp awoke him.
"Ugh....I've got school..." He murmered, turning over and wrapping himself into a cocoon with his blanked.
Hikaru was dead, and thar wasn't going to change.
"I'll just skip today..." Yoshiki whispered before closing his eyes.
The crumpled silver pack of pills glistened in the morning sun, it's relfections dancing on the ceiling. Yoshiki had promised himself that he wouldn't take anymore. That was a lie.
"Yoshiki! You need to get up, you've got school today!" His mum called from downstairs. He could smell something savoury cooking, but he wasn't hungry.
"Coming..." Yoshiki mumbled, before slipping out of bed and heading downstairs.
The pit in his stomach seemed to grow and nearly swallow him entirely. Hikaru would be here soon. Not Hikaru though...'Hikaru'. The thought of some creature wearing the skin of hid dead best friend make him want to vomit.
"Hey! Yoshiki!" That painfully familiar voice called out. "Ya ready to go now? I swear if we are late to school again..."
"Yeah yeah I'm ready, lets go..." Yoshiki replied, agressively patting Hikaru on the head.
"Ow! That hurt!".
"Too bad,".
The bike ride to school was painful. The sweltering heat beat down on them. The air so thick you could slice right through it with a knife. And the akward silence made the journey twice as difficult.
"Yoshikiiiii! Stop ignoring me," Hikaru complained, pouting.
Couldn't he be quiet for a minute?
