Work Text:

“Your new target is a very known and respected person in theXianzhou Luofu.” His boss spoke, adding a “as if it was possible not to be such an important figure.” under his breath.

Well to be honest, Blade is also a pretty known person in Xianzhou Luofu. Now, he knows who they are talking about, and the other person is a known and respectable person for a completely different reason. Yet, he stays silent and waits to hear a description or a name.

“Jing Yuan.” and that's the moment Blade pulled out a cigarette and lit it carelessly. “The General of the Luofu. Not an easy target as it is his place and is full of guards.”

What Blade's boss might not know is just what kind of relationship he and Jing Yuan have. And he doesn't know just how familiar Blade is with the whole city and the prison - he almost knows where every single guard is and he even knows the patterns of the ones that are closest to Jing Yuan.

To any other spy and assassin this would be a hard case, and people assume that it would be a hard job even for a person like Blade. “It is a hard case but the pay is pretty.” the man is shuffling and moving some files around, little pictures of The General every here and there, information about him circled in red. So much work and so many plans of break in when Blade knows how to enter Jing Yuan's bedroom without being noticed.

Technically, this is an easy job for him.
Now on the other side, it is a little bit hard because he and Jing Yuan have a lot of past together and he wouldn't really care to assassinate the other man. He thinks he'll take this job just for the thrill of it.

“You want to take it?” His boss very unamused and not quite liking how Blade looks like he barely gives a fuck as he smokes. Did he even listen?

“Yeah. I'll do it.” he says as he puts back on his shoulder bag and leaves the room. It is quite late, he needs to get back to his apartment and rest. And shower and renew his bandages… oh how much this night reminds him of the times he would visit Jing Yuan so often, and how he would patch all of his wounds. Oh and that wasn't it all, he would first clean them then put some cream or lotion on them, and he would put his lips on a few wounds and kiss them tenderly. And how he’d fall asleep and felt Jing Yuan curl around him and hold him close, almost as if the wind would blow him away and he would split out.

Which was partially true. The General loves a good and long sleep, while Blade would wake up sometimes even before the sun. He wished he would allow himself to stay more but sometimes he randomly felt disgusted about himself or would simply not be able to get himself to sit down. Very weird, he can not think of why he does that but he also never tells Jing Yuan - he most likely got used to it and learnt to hold onto Blade for as long as possible and cherish every minute or second they got together.

Their personal status aren't helping either, The General and the most wanted criminal.

Enough of that, he will soon be told to pack his stuff and leave, hell, they might even give him an ambush plan or a map of the city - but he doesn't really need it. He tries to shrug all the thoughts off, he can’t help but feel a little bit anxious even though there's nothing he really fears.

“Tell me, what is your job?” Jing Yuan smirks, obviously wanting to provoke Blade.

“Don't act like a fool, you already know.” The most unamused man ever.

“No.. I don't know.” Who would this be without the pushing? Anyways, he knows Blade folds often for him, oh and his mole on his face, a trap for which Blade will always fall for.

“Well if you really want to know,” Blade rests his arms on the table behind Jing Yuan, slightly pushing him against it, “you're my job.”

“I like the way you say it.” Of course he finds it amusing,.. but it doesn't really bother Blade. “How about we go and sit somewhere a little bit more hidden? Surely don't want anyone to know anything more about you and your job, dear.. mysterious man.”

“Very funny.” Blade barely moves a muscle in his face but he doesn't decline the offer and lets himself be driven by The General.

“This is it?” Blade looks around and he doesn't know what he was expecting but maybe it isn't that bad.

“Do you not like this balcony?” Jing Yuan almost pouts. “It's the furthest away and these trees cover it quite a lot.”

Blade has a weird feeling but he thinks it's caused by the alcoholic drink he's had and his situation with Jing Yuan. This doesn't mean he is lightheaded, he just hadn't had a drink in a long while.

“And I assume they want you to kill me, or, something like that, right?”

“Mhm.” he responds as he reaches for his pocket to get out a cigarette and his lighter, he feels almost like his lungs are hungry.

“And why don't you do it?” Jing Yuan asks very innocently, almost like he knows just how much of a chokehold he got on Blade.

“Do what? Kill you?” He scoffs but can’t even get his first drag of his cigarette because he starts giggling - it feels and sounds genuine.

“I mean, I know you wouldn't dare to.” He leans on the balcony's railing and looks in the distance through the branches. His land is beautifully lit, sparks of light color their faces.

Thankfully both men know that they are playful and none of them would pull out a knife – or something like that.

“Heck you mean I wouldn't?” he moves a little but just enough to get a look at the other man's face.

“I mean just that.” he lifts an eyebrow.

And in just one second… Lord above, Blade is almost underneath Jing Yuan, while Blade looking a little confused makes him look a dozen times better. And that is one of Jing Yuan's guilty pleasures.

Blade's lips curl at one end and he makes a combination of a smile and a smirk as he straightens himself again. He rests his back on the wall and drags yet another puff out of cigarette, the wind making the smoke sway unevenly in all directions.

After some time of silence, when he is almost done with his smoking sessions his right wrist is being held tightly as he is somewhat pushed into the wall behind him. Before he knows it, Jing Yuan is deeply over him and kissing him quite roughly - I guess he missed Blade a lot.

But he reciprocates just as eagerly, what can I comment now?

After they both pull away slightly (out of breath since they kiss like the end of the world is right before them) and struggle to breathe, Blade puts his cigarette back on his lips and takes a big breath out of it and pushes Jing Yuan head's towards him.

Kisses him and intoxicates him with the smell of tobacco. Well, this is a life Blade could only dream of, not to hide, not to run. But it wouldn't really be him if none of these were to challenge him.

Back at the quarters, Blade almost wants to pretend that he didn't see The General. Maybe throw in a white lie, say he was on a vacation and he'd go for him later.

That, until he's met with seeing his boss’ face almost full of rage.

“If only I knew you’d have so much fun, I wouldn't have sent you.”

“What's that supposed to mean?” He sounds extremely irritated.

“Don't play dumb!” His boss slammed his hands on the table beneath, making the cups jump and spill.

Blade only raises a curious eyebrow and looks through his jacket for a lighter, casual as ever. He truly doesn't care but he still wonders where this all is leading.

“Making out with THE General?! The person which I sent you to assassinate!?” He sighs, “I heard you might know a thing or two about him but not to this level.” He starts shaking his head and Blade struggles to stay quiet and not laugh.

Until it clicked. How does he know?

“How do you know?”

“Stop messing with me and get out.”

“How do you know?”

“By the cameras that are placed all around the Xianzhou Luofu into which I hacked to see what the hell took you so long.” At least Blade wasn't threatened with the footage.

“Fix it or I'll use the footage against you and the general, this is your only and last chance.” oh well.

Another request or problem like this, another reason to go back to Xianzhou Luofu and meet up with Jing Yuan. Not something Blade would ever mind – even if he wouldn't admit it.

“We got a problem, pretty boy.” Blade puts his sword to rest on the closet, slowly walking towards Jing Yuan which was brushing Mimi’s hair.

“What exactly?” He smiles as he invites Blade to sit down and offers him.. a comb.. to brush Mimi's hair.

He inspects it, it feels like real and expensive wood. Hell, it might even be hand made and at request since it has cat ears on it. He moves it a little on the feline's head as he exhales in frustation, “Got threatened the camera footage of us will be leaked.”

“What?”

“Another reason I didn't like that balcony.”

“But it was shielded by trees?”

“So you didn't know there were cameras? You don’t quite know where the cameras are?” Blade had all rights to be a little suspicious but he isn't, first because he trusts Jing Yuan and second because it would stain both of their's reputations. The General of the Xianzhou Luofu to be seen kissing with the most wanted criminal.. not so fun to be put out publicly.

Tingyun would be happy, way more people would come and buy photos of Jing Yuan, she could even double their price! Oh what an opportunity.. once in a lifetime occurence as well.

“Maybe it was..” he yawns as he puts dowm the comb, “a trap?”

Blade wants to laugh at that but it isn't an unheard or impossible thing. He normally is very appreciated at his job, finishes his duties the fastest, but he has heard some of his coworkers talk behind his back. People filled with envy, why wouldn't they put Blade up to such a challenge?

“I imagine some people envy your work.” Jing Yuan gets closer and pulls Blade into a messy kiss.

Hold on, is Jing Yuan a mind reader?

“So, can you delete the media,” they both lay down on the bed, getting further deeper in it, “or should I just kill you now?” oh the way Jing Yuan loves Blade's smirk and his sweet choices of words.

“Why is there no more footage???”

“What do you mean? Where'd it go?” all his other coworkers are trying to act like angels around their boss since they set up a trap. Not to mention the fact that Blade left for the Xianzhou Luofu and no word came back, his work profile is also deleted from their database.

As if someone hacked into it and the media recorded in the Luofu has been deleted. He surely has no aces in his sleeve, just a girl that often gets mistaken for a teenager and The General on his side.
