Chapter Text
Han Xin knew Li Bai as the melody he always heard. Not in the sound of a song, but in every whisper of the wind, every falling raindrop, and every heartbeat that beat only for that man. Li Bai was the spring in his life, a promise of endless happiness. His smile was like the newly risen sun, dispelling the dark shadows that once loomed over Han Xin. His clear laughter was the only symphony he ever wanted to hear for the rest of his life.
Han Xin knew he was the sun, and Li Bai was the moon. They were bound in a complex cosmic dance, chasing each other and illuminating one another, yet never truly able to unite. All this time, he thought, their love was a painting of destiny that would never fade.
Until one day, a small crack appeared on the canvas of that destiny. Li Bai, who had always been the light, slowly began to dim. His smile was no longer as warm as the sun. His laughter was no longer as clear as a bell. He started to pull away, creating an invisible chasm between them. Li Bai, like a leaf falling in autumn, moved away from his branch, without a clear reason, without a meaningful farewell. There was only silence and distance.
Han Xin tried to reach out to him. He sent messages, called him, and stood for hours in front of Li Bai’s apartment, but all he got was a locked door. Li Bai's feelings which were once so real, now felt like a mirage, an illusion that was slowly disappearing. Han Xin's heart was like a shattered glass, each fragment a beautiful memory that now wounded him.
In the end, he gave up. He knew there was a time when a love had to be let go, like a sailing ship that must leave the harbor. He let Li Bai go, even though every fiber of his being resisted. He locked all their beautiful memories in a chest deep in his heart, trying to forget, trying to move on with his life. But how could he forget, when every corner of this city was a portrait of the two of them? Every song he heard, every scent he smelled, every small moment he experienced, it all reminded him of Li Bai. He was a shadow he could not avoid.
Time went on. Han Xin lived his life, worked, laughed, met new people, but he was like a puppet moved by unseen strings. His soul was empty, with only the echoes of the memories that once filled it. He tried to convince himself that he had forgotten Li Bai.
Until that night. The night when the rain fell so heavily, soaking the city streets. Han Xin was on his way home, an umbrella in his hand, his mind drifting blankly. Suddenly, he saw a familiar figure across the street. Li Bai. He was standing under the awning of a cafe, his hair wet from the splashing raindrops, his eyes staring blankly at the rain.
Han Xin's heart felt as if it had stopped beating. He stood frozen across the street, letting the rain soak his body. He wanted to run towards Li Bai, to hug him, to ask him why he had left. But his feet were stuck, unable to move. He was the wind and Li Bai was the mountain, impossible to unite, yet impossible to be without each other.
As if feeling Han Xin's presence, Li Bai looked up. Their eyes met. In that instant, time seemed to stop spinning. All the memories, all the pain, all the longing, surged back. Li Bai did not smile. He only looked at Han Xin with a gaze full of regret. There was a wound etched there, a wound as deep as the one Han Xin felt.
Li Bai turned, walked away, and disappeared behind a crowd of people carrying umbrellas. And Han Xin could only stand there, letting the rain drench him. He realized that even after months had passed, he still loved Li Bai. Every moment of Li Bai, every memory of them, was still clearly etched in his heart. He had never forgotten him, and he would never be able to.
He could only hope that in another life, in a different destiny, they would meet again. Under the same sky, but with a story that did not end in the rain. He would love Li Bai in every step he took. He would miss him in every breath he took. And he would remember him in every moment of his life.
