Souls of Peace (Part 1) – Between Fracture and Shelter

Summary:

They call it war.
He calls it survival.
But somewhere between shadows and starlight, James Potter feels the echo of a heartbeat that isn’t his own – a pull towards Regulus Black that defies logic, loyalty, and the world they were born into. Neither of them knows what it is. But it’s there, under their skin, whispering: find me.

Hey everyone! This is my first work on AO3 and I’m super excited (and slightly nervous) to share it with you.
This story is part of a bilingual project – I’ll be posting it in both English and German.
It follows James Potter and Regulus Black through the chaos of the Marauders era, connected by something neither of them understands yet.
Comments & kudos mean the world to me – enjoy!

Chapter 1: Foreword – “Souls of Peace (Part 1) – Between and Shelter”

Chapter Text

Some stories don't make a loud entrance.

They don't start with heroics or dramatic turns.

They begin in silence.

With a look that lasts a second too long.
With thoughts you just can't shake.

James Potter fights for what he believes in.
With fire, with guts, with that kind of stubborn courage that says: we do the right thing – no matter the cost.

Regulus stands on the other side.
Cold. Calculated. Or so it seems.
A shadow caught between ancient names and misplaced loyalty.

They're opposites in a war that leaves no room for doubt.
Enemies who barely know each other –
and yet think about each other way too often.

What if losing yourself
means seeing the other too clearly?

This is a story about cracks.
Between houses. Between hearts.
Between what was – and what could be.

And sometimes...
those very cracks are where the light gets in.
