Chapter Text
He knew it was a trap.
He knew he was in danger.
But he still went.
He went to strangers.
He traded himself for nothing.
They were already dead.
But he still went.
Obi-Wan woke up. There was a filthy rag tied around his eyes, so all he saw was darkness. He was being held against a wall with his hands behind his head. He was facing an empty room that was medium-sized. He couldn't move his legs. They were also chained to the wall.
Suddenly, the door flew open, and Maul entered with his warlock brother. Obi-Wan was limp against the wall. He could feel his body bruising from being beaten by the brothers after he had been captured.
Maul ripped the cloth off Obi-Wan's eyes, blinding him with the sudden light. Maul gripped Obi-Wan's chin and forced his head to turn fast, cracking his jaw and his neck. Obi-Wan grunted in pain, but he fought to hold in all sound. He wanted to bring no satisfaction to this monster.
Obi-Wan glared at Maul through his one good eye, earning him a cruel smile before Maul slapped him. Obi-Wan closed his eyes, pressing hard as tears welled against his will.
Maul detached the chains holding Obi-Wan against the wall, but his ankles were still chained, loosely, against the wall, so he fell forward onto his knees, the chains cutting into his an Maul kicked him in the back, forcing him onto his stomach. This time, Obi-Wan cried out in pain as blood poured down his ankles and feet, pooling on the floor.
Maul kept a metal leg pushing against him as he leaned down and, grabbing his soft auburn hair, wrenched his head up. Obi-Wan could feel veins in his neck popping against the strain. Maul did something strange then. He released Obi-Wan's head, which slammed against the floor, then he released the chains on his ankles, finally relaxing his bloody ankles.
Maul and Savage left, leaving Obi-Wan to lie on the floor and nurse his bruises and cuts.
Obi-Wan tried to reach out to Anakin through the Force, but Maul's presence made it extremely painful. Obi-Wan tried to stand up, but his ankles were broken in multiple places. Clutching his head, which had a small gash where it had slammed against the floor, Obi-Wan crawled to the wall and sat up against it. He felt hopeless and worthless. He was sent here to save innocent lives, but he had been too late. Maul had killed every last one.
Anakin was sleeping until he felt something. He saw a vision of Obi-Wan, shackled against a wall, bleeding from the mouth and his face bruised. Anakin woke up, sweating. His master was supposed to be on a negotiation for the council. What was he doing in a cell? He went to Yoda with his concerns the next morning.
“Been given a mission Obi-Wan has, to save lives he has been sent.” Master Yoda said, “The dangers he knew, but he still went. To face a dark shadow, he must.” Anakin wanted to go after him, but Yoda refused to let him until another day passed, and Maul contacted the Jedi temple.
