The stars bore its shape into Mizi's eyes as she gazed up at the sky, sparkles adorning the vast expanse of the night. She felt herself melting onto the grass, and let out a relaxed sigh. How could anything be so beautiful, so ethereal, so… heavenly, just like-
“Hey Mizi, you're spacing out!” Sua let out a giggle as she beamed at Mizi, their palms brushed together, emanating a comforting warmth that ebbed into her body, urging Mizi to tear her gaze away from the night sky and to look down where her universe lay.
Sua's lips pursed to suppress a laugh. “Do you like the stars that much?” she questioned, a teasing lilt in her voice, amused at Mizi's confused gaze after she had just snapped out of a trance.
Unlike other times, Mizi couldn't find the words to say. Silence fell on them as she contemplated, not knowing how to tell Sua exactly what she was feeling, why the stars captivated her as such. This feeling only drew her in closer, urging her to fondly admire Sua; to trace out her entirety.
Reverence, adoration, worship all came crashing down onto Mizi, weaving into each other. It culminated into a familiar warmth that flowed whenever Sua engulfed her mind, cascading into every crevice of her heart, blurring everything, only leaving her God in view.
From soft downturned eyes, to thin lips stuck in a doting smile, to velvety skin that held delicate features. Gently running her thumb over supple skin, Mizi cupped Sua’s cheek, savoring the comforting heat of her breaths fanning out on her fingers.
It was met with eager reciprocation as Sua leaned into her hand, tenderly rubbing her cheek against Mizi's palm. She reached out her hand to envelope Mizi's, anchoring her touch. A fleeting kiss was pressed onto Mizi’s finger. Eyes met eyes, drowning each other in nothing but veneration. Glistening purple etched itself onto golden-hazel. Mizi’s breath hitched in awe.
The stars seemed to twinkle in Sua’s eyes, putting the ones in the sky to shame.
I see the universe in your eyes. My soul is yours to keep. Hold me until we melt into each other. I will always love you, my God, my universe.
How could she ever forget? The first time they met, as the galaxy wrapped around them, as the stars shone bright, it was the start of that warmth .
But nothing, no matter how eternal, no matter how boundless, could ever measure up to her God, her Sua. Perhaps the stars held up in the sky bore the closest resemblance to her. Still, while they were reminiscent of the stars Mizi saw in Sua’s eyes, they could never, ever be comparable.
Legs intertwined with each other until it was impossible to tell where Sua began and where Mizi ended. Bare skin on skin sent burning touches as their bodies pressed together, fusing into one. Tender intimacy consumed them in pure ecstasy and they let out short chuckles, letting out the joy that was bursting at its steams.
Their giggles slowly faded as Mizi's gaze travelled down, stopping at Sua's lips. A silent affirmation sounded out as Sua leaned in further, until their breaths synchronised, and their noses grazed each other. Every touch, every move, every breath, fused together to form a harmony; I'm here, I'll always be by your side.
At last, their lips connected, tenderly pressing against each other as their devotion reached its crescendo. Mizi's hands took their place on Sua’s waist, gently holding her tighter. The soft sounds of kissing reverberated in their oasis, reserved only for the both of them. Adoration gushed, overflowing and threatening to burst. It burnt their hearts with desire, need– to be closer, to meld into one
Pink hair brushed against supple cheeks as Sua pulled Mizi to lay on top of her, willing herself to be engulfed. Her arms enclosed around Mizi’s shoulder to bring her impossibly closer, not allowing any space to remain between them. A silent plea– all I need is you, stay with me forever.
Reluctantly, Mizi lifted her head and tore their lips apart in search of air. Between their huffs, warmth bloomed in Mizi's chest as Sua's eyes crinkled in affection and her glistening lips turned up in a loving, radiant smile; one that was meant for Mizi.
“You're so adorable” Mizi breathed out, an affectionate whisper that echoed in their tranquility. Heat rose to Sua's cheeks, dusting them in pink. “You always say that…” she pouted. The atmosphere between them brightened as Mizi let out a playful chuckle, peppering kisses anywhere she could reach. “And I’ll keep saying it!” Pecking Sua’s cheeks in succession. “So adorable!” Mizi exclaimed between every kiss. “It tickles! Stop” Sua weakly pushed Mizi away, yet her giggles betrayed the happiness she felt.
As their laughter died down, Sua's eyes carefully traced Mizi, engraving the sight in her mind. Mizi eyes, her smile, her voice, her breaths, her voice, her motions; everything. Sua vowed to preserve this moment forever. Taking a deep breath, all she could feel was… heaven.
…Heaven? It was taught to be the unreachable place high in the sky where the Gods lived. When humans die and go to heaven, they are said to experience happiness for the rest of eternity and be freed of suffering. If that was the case, was heaven really that impossible to reach? Heaven was right here– wherever Mizi was. Where the familiar hollow loneliness dissipated, where the constant guilt, suffering, hatred faded into nothing but a distant memory.
Soon, I will disappear and become nothing to this world. But… Lord, please let me bring this memory along. Even in your promise of eternal happiness, let me remember what my own heaven felt like. After all, nowhere else in this universe, not even in your paradise, can I find such a heavenly garden.
A touch within the storm pulled Sua out of her trance. Mizi raised an eyebrow, silently asking what was wrong. Comforting hands reached out to smooth the frown marring Sua’s face. Lips pursed and teeth bit into loose skin. “Nothing,” Sua whispered, plastering a smile on her face. Thankfully, it was enough to reassure Mizi– for now.
It had been hours since they’d snuck out to stargaze, the late night catching up to them. Yawns escaped their mouths as Mizi held Sua close, leading her head to rest on Mizi’s chest. Sua’s arms circled around her waist, connecting her nose to Mizi’s neck and breathing in her scent.
‘I love you’, although unspoken, reverberated in both of their hearts, and throughout their night sky.
My god.
My heaven.
Always be with me.
Tendrils of light peeked into Mizi's eyes. She yawned, blinking away the last remnants of sleep. Reaching down to press a soft kiss to Sua's forehead, Mizi enclosed her arms around her tighter. Sua unconsciously nuzzled into Mizi's chest, letting out soft snores. Affection burst throughout Mizi’s body as she rubbed her cheek against satin hair, breathing out in contentment.
The distant sounds of Anakt garden awakening prompted Mizi to look away. She could spot an enraged Till chasing after Ivan, who was clutching some instruments to his chest while grinning. Mizi let out a faint chuckle, but turned away to face Sua once again. Just a few more minutes, anything to stay in this moment forever.
Although the grass pricked into their skin, and the hard ground made their backs sore, warmth surged through her body. Merely feeling the rise and fall of Sua’s chest, the sound of her snoring, the warmth of her body, was more than enough. Bliss overflowed within Mizi– what she wouldn’t give for nights like these.
Even when the day conceals the night, my stars still shine so bright.
