Kate sighed as she sat on Castle's couch. He sat next to her gently holding her hand and rubbing her back.
"It will be ok Kate," Rick said softly
"How will it be ok? I'm pregnant. My baby's father found out and ran. I can't do this alone" Kate replied
"Then let me help. I can be there for you. Kate, you mean so much to me. Let me help you. Let me be your partner in this"
"Why would you offer something like that?"
"Because I care about you. I love you"
"But how can you commit to a child that won't be yours"
"Because I love you. Please, Kate, Let me help"
Kate nodded and Rick pulled her into his arms. He smiled as she drifted to sleep and he made her comfortable on the couch. Alexis walked in an hour later with his mother and Castle pointed up the stairs. He led them to Alexis's room and smiled as they sat down on the bed.
"What's up with Kate dear," Martha asked softly
"She was dating a guy named Josh and she got pregnant and he ran," Rick said softly
"She didn't know where else to go so I told her to come here"
"Oh Dad" Alexis gasped
"I invited her to stay as long as she needed and I told her I would be there for her and this child. I know that is a lot to take in, but is this ok with you guys?"
"Of course dad"
"Yes Richard, take care of that girl"
"Thanks. Try not to ambush her when she wakes up ok? I can't lose her right now"
Both nodded and Rick went back out to the living room. He smiled when Kate woke up and gently hugged her before letting his mother and daughter join them. Kate smiled, she felt happy and safe for the first time in days.
