Work Text:
Esteban and Ollie have been walking around the paddock. This weekend has been a good one for them with them both scoring points. Things in their relationship have been going well, too. It seems like they are just getting closer every weekend. Ollie is excited about it. It really feels like he found his dream guy. How lucky, that they got paired up as teammates for his rookie season. It really couldn’t have worked out better.
As they are walking, two young girls, aged five or so, come up to them with their parents. They are holding teddy bears and wearing Haas shirts. Esteban immediately kneels down so he’s on their level to say hi to them. The girls absolutely light up with joy. Ollie kneels down too.
“Those are very sweet teddy bears,” Esteban tells the girls. “What are their names?”
One of the girls giggles, “Mine is Ollie and Mira’s is Este.”
“Well you picked out very good names,” Esteban says with a wide smile. “And what is your name?”
“Rosie,” the little girl says.
“That’s a very good name too,” Esteban says, “And Mira too of course.”
They answer some more questions from the girls - they are very keen to find out what Ollie and Este have for breakfast and a little bit disappointed that Ollie and Este have to eat healthy foods too, just like their parents make them.
Finally they take a photo with the girls and their parents and give the girls a big hug each.
“That was cute,” Ollie says as they continue their walk. “You are a natural with kids.”
Esteban blushes, actually looking a little shy.
“I mean it,” Ollie says, “And that’s good to know, you know. It’s such a green flag when a guy is nice to kids. And especially when you are dating that guy and dreaming of the future.”
“You are dreaming of a future with me?” Esteban asks, sounding so hopeful.
“Of course I am,” Ollie says. “You are cute, handsome, thoughtful, sweet, funny and just everything I could ask for. If you want me in your future, I want you in mine. Forever. Maybe even with a few kids of our own.”
Esteban kisses him. “I want a future with you too. And kids. You’re good with them as well, you know.”
Ollie grins at Esteban and kisses him again.
They make their way out of the paddock and to their hotel room. Once they are there, they order dinner and settle down in bed together, cuddling against each other as they eat. Ollie loves quiet moments like this. He can just be soft and calm with Esteban and feel loved. He hopes to have many moments like this in the future, long after they’ve retired, too. He thinks about kids’ feet running around a beautiful home they will buy together and all the beautiful moments they will share. Making dinner together in a cozy kitchen and watching every Marvel movie because it will light up Esteban’s face with pure joy. Raising babies and just creating a space full of love.
Ollie kisses Esteban’s cheek. He is certain these dreams for the future will come true. Esteban is the best guy. The very best. And Ollie is going to cherish that forever. Cherish Esteban the way he is meant to be cherished and loved. It hasn’t always been easy for Esteban, Ollie knows, in terms of relationships. But this is different. Esteban tells him all the time. This relationship is based on love and respect and all those good things.
“I have been imagining a kid that looks like us,” Esteban whispers.
“Yeah?” Ollie encourages.
“They have your nose but my hair,” Esteban says, “And they have your hands but my eyes.”
“We’d make such cute babies,” Ollie says. “I really want a mini us. Or, like, ten.”
Esteban laughs, “Ten? Getting competitive even with the baby making?”
Ollie giggles. “Okay maybe ten is a bit much. But I love you and I would love to have a bunch of babies with you and raise kids that are like you,” he says sincerely.
Esteban kisses him and Ollie climbs on top of his lap so they can kiss even better. Ollie presses their foreheads together and looks straight into Esteban’s eyes.
Esteban chuckles, “Well if you look at me like that and are so cute about everything, you make me think we need ten babies too.”
“Right,” Ollie says with a grin, “It makes sense!”
Esteban pecks his lips again. They stay like that for a while, Ollie in Esteban’s lap, stealing kisses from each other. Looking at each other with pure love and heart eyes. Really enjoying the softness of the moment and the love they have for each other.
And they keep dreaming of that future. Of those little footsteps in a hallway, greeting them when they come home. Raising up tiny humans and showing them everything about the world. Creating a real home together. Not living out of suitcases like they do now, but a real, true home. A space where they can return and be themselves no matter what is happening in the world. A space that’s all about their love and their little family.
Ollie can’t wait to have all those things. For now they are still competing, still getting the most out of their careers. And he loves that, too. Especially to do it all with Esteban. But one day that will all be over and their trophies will be collecting dust. But their love, their love will never collect dust. It will stay fresh and real and good. And they’ll show it every single day.
“Those little fans really gave me baby fever,” Ollie admits. “Not even just that. I have the urge to drag you to some courthouse and get married right away and start a family with you.”
“I get the urge,” Esteban says. “I get that urge at least five times a week with you. I finally found a good guy, I gotta keep him forever, you know.”
“You will,” Ollie promises, “I am never going anywhere unless you get sick and tired of me. I love you more than anything I have ever loved.”
“I love you so much, too,” Esteban says, “More than anything in this entire universe. You are so special. I really want forever with you, baby.”
“Forever sounds really good to me,” Ollie says. “And just so you know…If you wanted, I would marry you tomorrow.”
“I will keep that in mind,” Esteban says, grinning, “But I do think I want to make it a little more romantic. You deserve that, baby.”
Ollie kisses him again. “So do you, babe.”
Yes, he thinks. This is good. This is going to last forever for sure. Ollie just knows it will. It’s going to be so lovely and wonderful.
“For now let’s just cuddle for a bit,” Esteban suggests. “I will muse about romantic ideas in the meantime.”
“I like that,” Ollie says.
He climbs off Esteban’s lap and they shift their bodies until Esteban is lying down with Ollie’s head resting on his chest. His arms are wrapped around Ollie’s body and Ollie’s hands are resting on Esteban’s stomach.
Ollie feels so soft again and so loved. Seeing Esteban with those kids was really just another sign that he is meant to be with Esteban. He wonders if they should write a ‘thank you’ note to their bosses, for pairing them up. It really has been a match made in heaven.
“There were days,” Esteban admits, “where I believed I would never find love and now I have this with you, the certainty of forever and of creating a family of my own with you. Thank you, baby, for giving me that.”
“You are giving me all of that, too,” Ollie says softly. “So don’t thank just me for it. Thank yourself for being the best boyfriend.”
Esteban presses a kiss into Ollie’s hair and Ollie smiles against Esteban’s chest.
Yes. The certainty of forever. A family of their own. It will all work out just like that.
They fall asleep in each other’s arms. Just like they will many more times in the life they’ll share. Some things are just meant to be and Esteban and Ollie are.
