Ahh, Tuesdays… not a great day. Nothing good happens on a Tuesday. Except this one was great!!! Shoto beat Katsuki in a fight in class and was honestly proud of himself for once!
Till his father called.
Now usually Shoto ignored the calls, but last time he did, his father hurt him pretty bad, and Shoto did not feel like that again. So he begrudgingly answered the phone.
“Shoootoo!!! I heard you did well in class today,” Enji said loudly.
“Yeah, what do you care?!” Shoto said, setting his stuff down on his desk.
The sun shone its golden rays, lighting up the room perfectly as Shoto paced around, listening to his father’s lecture. He blocked most of it out, but Enji said something that got his attention.
“You know I am trying to be a good father!! But Fuyumi said that starving my children isn’t gonna help them! But I still think you should eat less, Shoto. It would make you less ugly!” Enji shouted.
Shoto felt a knot in his stomach… he immediately hung up the call and just stared into the mirror, looking at himself… he hated what he saw. Honestly, looking at himself made him feel sick.
He already hated his body and himself… his father only made it worse.
He grabbed a small box and took a blade out, intending on ending it…
He was already on the edge. His father had just pushed him off.
Katsuki stormed down into the common room, clearly looking for something.
“Hey, Kacchan! You good?” Midoriya asked from the couch.
“I’m fine!! I’m looking for Icy Hot! I want a rematch! No one beats me and gets away with it!” Bakugo shouted.
“Chill, he’s upstairs,” Midoriya said, looking back at his phone.
Katsuki grumbled and walked off up to Shoto’s dorm.
He barged in, ’cause like, who knocks anymore…
Looking back, he wished he did…
“Oi, Icy Hot, I want a re—” Katsuki stopped… Shoto was here?
He peeked into the bathroom…
There Shoto was, sitting on the floor, blade in hand, wrists cut up… he didn’t say anything when he saw Katsuki, he just stared at him…
He looked defeated and just generally tired…
“Hi…” Shoto mumbled, wiping the blood off his wrist, yet it kept flowing…
Katsuki grabbed a cloth, wet it slightly, and pressed it on Shoto’s wrist.
“…What are you doing?” Shoto asked, sounding exhausted.
“Helping you, idiot,” Katsuki said, getting another cloth for Shoto’s other wrist to stop the bleeding.
“Why… I thought you didn’t care…” Shoto said, taking the cloth.
“Well, I do… I care,” Katsuki mumbled, sitting down across from Shoto and putting pressure on his wrists.
They sat in silence for a while… slowly moving closer until Shoto had his head resting on Katsuki’s chest.
“These look deep… we should go to Recovery Girl,” Katsuki said softly.
“Oh… yeah, okay then, let’s go…”
They walked down to her office and went inside.
“Hello dears, how can I—” she gasped. “Goodness me, Todoroki, sit down! I’ll fix you right up,” she said, grabbing some medical equipment.
Not long after, Shoto was all fixed up.
“There we go… hm, you look thin, dear. Are you alright?” she asked, sounding concerned.
“Yeah, I’m fine…” Shoto mumbled, getting up from where he was sitting.
“Thank you!” Katsuki said, walking out with Shoto by his side.
He had bandages on his wrists, but other than that he was fine… on the outside. On the inside, he was hurting bad.
Shoto wanted to scream or call out for help, but all that came out was one shaky breath, then a slight sob… it was broken, it sounded painful. It was the kind that made your whole body shake.
He rushed into his room with Katsuki following behind silently…
Then Katsuki stepped forward and just held Shoto for a while. Shoto just stood there, sobbing.
“Shhh, I’m here. It’s all going to be okay,” Katsuki whispered, holding Shoto tighter.
“I’m not enough…” Shoto said through sobs. “And I never will be.”
“No… no, you are. You are so strong and amazing. You matter… so much,” Katsuki said, feeling tears stinging his own eyes.
Shoto didn’t say anything, he just loosely put his arms around Katsuki.
“And hey… I’m proud of you, not just today but every day,” Katsuki said softly.
He felt Shoto hold him tighter.
“Really?” Shoto sniffled. “That’s the first time anyone’s ever said that,” he mumbled, smiling slightly.
He stared up at Katsuki, laughing slightly.
In what should have been his darkest… he looked so happy. Like that one sentence erased it all.
And maybe, just maybe… it did.
