Work Text:
Langa couldn’t tear his eyes away from Reki, not when he was half asleep sitting up on his board, not quite ready to go to bed, but tired nonetheless. His messy red hair did nothing but make butterflies swarm in Langa’s chest, even going to make their home in his stomach at the sight.
Reki didn’t even know Langa was staring at him, his headband tugged down very slightly, just enough to cover his already closed eyes, a little habit he had developed after Langa pulled it over his eyes at night once. It provided a comforting and welcome darkness, even if just for a few hours to rest.
Maybe the only reason he liked it was because Langa did it first, but he didn’t know, and he was far too tired to want to think about his best friend and how many habits he had picked up after seeing him do them once or twice. The amount would’ve been embarrassing to even think about.
A quiet content sigh came from Langa’s mouth, kneeling in front of Reki where he sat, wrapping his arms around the other boy’s middle with a gentle force, enough to let him know he was there, even if he already knew. Reki didn’t wait to return the affection, wrapping his arms around Langa’s neck like he was the only thing anchoring him to the earth, and in a way– to Reki, at least– he was.
Reki could barely even remember life before meeting Langa, everything felt dull, even skateboarding was starting to become draining, but when he saw that blue haired boy, nothing had ever felt dull again. He could even swear colours looked brighter, and he noticed that he saw blue much more than he used to, but maybe he was just paying more attention to blue, always thinking anything light blue could be Langa heading towards him— Which it normally wasn’t, as Langa was always beside him or just a little in front of him. Hardly ever away by more than a few feet. Just how Reki wanted him.
The two boys just stayed hugging for a few moments, almost like they were sewn together, molded into one by their combined body heat, fused together like chemicals.
Before Langa pulled away.
Reki whined like a kicked puppy, reaching out to try and grab Langa to hold him close once more, just to feel his body against his, to feel the warmth that spread through his entire body when he held that blue haired boy.
All he heard was a very soft laugh before he felt himself getting picked up, clearly Langa lifting him from his own board to take him to bed. Reki’s face burned as he started mumbling that he could walk just fine on his own, that he didn’t need to be carried, but Langa didn’t listen to a word he said, and honestly, Reki was glad he didn’t. He never realised how nice it was to be carried, legs wrapped around the taller boy’s hips as he supported the backs of his thighs with his hands, it was heavenly.
His bed creaked quietly as Langa placed him down on it, crawling into the bed with him once he was placed, tugging the blanket over both of them. The shorter boy wanted to cling to Langa like his life depended on it, to wrap his arms around him and melt into him once again like they did every night they shared a bed— He was confused why Langa didn’t hug him first like he usually did.
It took a few seconds of the two boys laying in silence for Reki to cuddle up to Langa’s side, his arms wrapping around the other boy, holding him tighter than usual, almost like a dog trying to protect their owner from danger, even if the danger didn’t exist.
Reki then felt a soft kiss get planted on his forehead, his face instantly burning redder than his hair, unable to give a proper reaction before there was another one, now placed on his brow bone, before another, all leading down and across his face, and eventually, down to his lips. It only lasted a moment, but Reki could swear it made him completely breathless.
Langa soon pulled Reki’s head to rest on his chest, and he immediately buried it in the fabric of the shirt he was wearing, absolutely consumed by not only the feeling of the boy’s lips on his but now his scent. He felt like he was home, exactly where he was meant to be all his life, but to him, home was anywhere he was with Langa, and he was sure Langa knew that.
That single kiss had woken Reki up. He was far from the half asleep mess he was only a few minutes ago, all he was thinking about was getting more affection from Langa, hand tugging at the back of his shirt like a silent plea, hoping he’d get the message.
He almost instantly knew what he was trying to get, another soft and quiet laugh coming from Langa’s chest as he pressed yet another kiss to Reki’s forehead, beginning to play with his red hair, messing it up even more than skating already did.
The night was quiet, full of peace and feelings unspoken but understood. Those three words both of them were thinking about unsaid yet known. Actions and affection spoke for them, especially for Langa.
Words wouldn’t do justice to what he had to say about Reki, how his hair was brighter than a fireplace’s flame on a cold winter night back home, how his voice made his chest flood with light, how he had never met someone he had more fun with. Langa couldn’t believe how lucky he was to meet Reki, like he had won the lottery every single time he saw him smile, even if it was at him completely wiping out on his board.
They could not love each other more.
