“Tail to nose!”
Decotrade, Itasha and Yarucar posed and swiftly dashed away from the battle, avoiding any further conflict with the triumphant Boonboomgers.
The three stooges left behind the body of their latest henchman, the Feather Duster Grumer, who had been collecting Ghassolin by triggering innocent civilian’s allergies and ruining their plans for the day with sickness.
However, instead of exploding into a large ball of flames once their finishing moves had connected, the monster laid on the floor defeated, unmoving.
Mira Shifuto undid her transformation and offered high fives to her teammates. Akuse Jou followed right after and returned the gesture to his dear friend. “We did it, and very few people were affected by the monster!” She cheered.
Taiya Hando and Genba Bureki deactivated their forms. BunPink and BunBlack approached BunRed, eager for him to join the tiny celebration. BoonRed just couldn’t leave them hanging, so he slapped their palms in a casual manner.
Meanwhile, BunOrange decided to approach the feathery creature laid on the floor to investigate why this one hadn’t vanished.
The supplier knelt down to get a closer look, but not too close as to touch any of the dust scattered across its body. He didn’t want to get affected by all that strange powder that made everyone get severe allergies.
Did they miss an attack? Should they have added extra power to their final blow?
As Genba pondered all the possibilities, the monster opened its eyes.
“Kablooey!” It yelled, before blowing a large dusty cloud towards the man. “Dust!”
The strange soot immediately attached to his black and orange clothes, but they specifically gathered near his nose, itching at it repeatedly until the cat-like alien couldn’t help but sneeze once, and then twice, and then three times.
The allergy attack had been successful and Genba immediately felt sick.
“Haha, dust! At least I took one of the Boonboomgers down with me, dust!” The kurumaju cackled to itself, content with landing its signature technique one last time.
Ichiro Meita, who still donned the high tech BunBlue suit, dashed to retrieve his ally. “Genba, are you alright?” He asked in a worried tone, holding his partner in his arms.
Sadly, he couldn’t get a response thanks to the strong effects of the enhanced dust cloud, sneezing into his elbow to prevent any spreading of the illness.
The feather duster fiend prepared to release a second puff of dust just for the informant, inhaling deeply and preparing all the filth on its feathers.
“ByunByun Gatling!” The voice of Byun Diesel called out.
Sakito Homura aimed the BoonBoom Controller towards the monster, unleashing a torrent of purple energy arrows upon it.
The monster’s weakened body couldn’t endure the overwhelming barrage, exploding after sustaining enough damage and vanishing in a large fiery burst.
Without Yarucar to turn the creature into a giant with all the collected Ghassolin, the Feather Duster Grumer finally met its defeat.
However, the villain left them with one worrying problem: the health of Genba Bureki. His alien physiology wasn’t fond of this planet’s allergies, and as the BoonBoomgers gathered around him to take them back to Hando Manor, they noticed his earthling disguise was slowly fading away.
---
BunOrange was carefully placed on one of the couches of the Tire People’s Headquarters. Sakito dropped him on one of the red, comfortable couches that the group had used to bond over some curry before. The cleaner looked at his fellow offworlder intently, rubbing his chin as he considered his situation.
“One second.” With a single pull from the trigger of his transformation device, Sakito bolted out of the room, leaving a trail of purple energy behind. He intruded into every single room in Taiya’s home, looking through his things until he found the one thing he was looking for.
“I don’t remember much about how to deal with earthly allergies… But I do remember that a blanket sorta does the trick!” When he returned to the room, he set a long purple blanket on his shoulders, letting his teammate rest on the couch.
Genba chuckled, his voice sounded a bit sore, like he was on the brink of couching at every moment. “Heheh, why thank you. I guess I owe you for saving me and for this service?” He asked with a playful voice while tugging at the fluffy cloth.
Sakito gladly returned the tone. “You got it! But, I will take some time to collect the debt. Wouldn't want you stressing over that and getting worse, am I right?”
A friendly grin and chuckle escaped the cleaner, before turning around and heading out of the room, not without making a gesture with his index and middle finger, swinging it in a casual salute.
BunViolet passed right beside Taiya and Mira, who were both carrying a ton of full heavy bags.
BunPink waved her hand excitedly, where she held a box of medicine. “Genba! Here, Taiya and I went to get you something to make you feel better!”
Taiya nodded with a soft smile. “Indeed. We didn’t know what would be good for the people of Planet Bureki, so we got everything we could get our hands on. Hopefully one of them will suit your needs.” BunRed was more than glad to drop some of his colossal fortune into helping a dear friend.
“But… You went a bit overboard, Taiya! We could have just settled for some honey and water before going overboard with the allergy remedies!” Mira said, leaving the bags on the table right in front of Genba, the delivery man let out a flustered chuckle at the words of his friend. “But… I guess this is the first time an alien gets sick on earth, huh?”
The ill cat man nodded. “I am rather resilient to the sicknesses on this planet, but I guess that Kurumaju was just really good at triggering people’s allergies.” As soon as he finished his sentence, a hard cough left him. Ganba placed the back of his elbow against his mouth, his ears twitching from the sudden reaction.
“Whatever it is, you just stay here and we’ll handle the rest.” Taiya continued, leaving the other bags on the wooden surface.
“What about the Hashiriyan? What if they decide to strike again and you need all hands on deck?” Genba protested, trying to stand up from his spot, his hand clutching the blanket that his violet teammate left for him.
Mira stood in front of the alien royalty, pressing her hands against his shoulders and guiding him back towards the couch. “We are not going through this again!” She exclaimed, not wanting another break up between the team like it happened before when BunOrange searched for revenge on his own. “Just trust us! Taiya said it himself, we’ll handle everything from here. It’s important that you are in tip-top shape for whatever challenge comes next.”
“And besides,” BoonRed continued. “BunBun is working on some curry just for you, you wouldn’t want to miss out on it. Just sit tight for us, okay?” The teammates looked at the supplier with a bright and comforting smile, just wanting the best for him.
---
Boondorio delivered the meal with his bubbly and cheerful demeanor, placing the warm and comforting plate right on Genba’s hands, before patting his shoulder and walking outside. The Burekian had a relaxed and pleasant smile on his face as he got a spoonful of the mech-like alien’s cooking.
As he reached the halfway point of the cuisine, the last remaining members of the team arrived: Jou Akuse and Ichiro Meita. It was their turn to see if they could lend their partner some help in this moment of weakness.
BunBlue looked through the countless boxes and bottles of medicine to find which one would actually help with treating the supplier’s allergies. He looked serious, like always, but there was a particularly stern look on his face since he tried to avoid making eye contact with the other two members of the team.
BunBlack was standing right behind Genba, fixing his hair, which turned into a mix between his human and alien hairstyles due to the sickness messing with his disguise.
He had just arrived from doing some deliveries in the supplier’s stead, and it was clear that Genba was the best at what he did, since Jou had a lot of trouble just matching the rhythm of his job. But he was willing to do anything for him, just to show his appreciation and care for him.
It hadn’t been too long since BunOrange had joined back on the team.
Jou respected his decision, but he couldn’t help but miss him during all that time. He wanted to fight side by side with him again, and even adapted some of his fighting style while he was gone. It was difficult for him to handle the idea of a world where Genba wouldn’t be there with him.
He just meant so much to the policeman.
There weren’t any Hashiryan attacking, nor were there any signs of other external forces becoming a danger to earth. So, he took this moment to make up for lost time.
He had a dumb smile on his face as he groomed the Burekian’s hair. Genba seemed so calm from the attention and the flavor of the curry that he let out soft and appreciative purrs.
Ichiro felt a bit flustered at the sight. He had respected the decision taken by the royalty of Planet Bureki; the informant felt like he would have done the same thing if their positions were switched. But deep down, he couldn’t help but feel like he missed having someone so reliable around, perhaps on the same level that Jou felt about his disappearance.
“Well…” He began, standing up from his spot with a bottle and a handful of blister packs. “If you take these, it should do the same as it would do to a normal human. I would also recommend keeping your distance from Genba, if you don’t want to catch something yourself…”
“But we gotta keep an eye on him now, see how he recovers and all!” Jou responded, thinking of an excuse to spend some more time with him. Ichiro rolled his eyes, it was like BunBlack was just a puppy who missed its owner after a long day. “Besides, he won’t get any better if he is left to figure out how to deal with all of this on his own.”
“As a matter of fact, he will if he just takes what I’m giving him.” The informant responded with a serious voice. He wasn’t taking any of this nonsense.
Jou let go of Genba’s orange and white hair, snapping the cat man from his comfortable trance. “But, someone has to keep him company!”
“There’s no need to fight about this when I am right here, you two.” The supplier interrupted with his silky, yet slightly raspy voice. “I would really appreciate it if you two remained here with me, even if just for a little longer.”
BunOrange couldn’t help but miss every one of them while he was out searching for Disrace, even if he took that decision out of his own free will. He tried to convince himself that they had all moved on without him, that they had abandoned him just like he had abandoned them.
But the moment he considered coming back, they all welcomed him with open arms, like he had never left. They even had his own Champion Jacket prepared just for him.
Seeing all of them go out of their way to help him and support him in such a mundane situation for them was heartwarming.
They really cared for him.
Jou happily joined Genba on the couch, and the latter invited him to get even closer by placing the blanket that Sakito gave him over his shoulders. The two cuddled together, basking in their moment of intimacy. The users of the BoonBoom Booster let the shared warmth wash over them.
BunBlack wanted to be near his partner, and if he was going to get sick because of it, then that would be a problem for future Jou.
All that mattered was to be near Genba before destiny took him away again.
BunOrange opened one eye and smiled, inviting Ichiro to join them without saying a word.
“C’mon, Chashiro!” The policeman added. “I know you want it too! There’s plenty of blanket for the three of us.”
Ichiro cleared his throat, refusing to acknowledge the nickname. “No, thanks.” He turned the exit and walked outside, a hint of jealousy picking at his back. He really did want to spend some time with Genba, since he knew that he wouldn’t be around the BoonBoomgers for too long.
He wanted to give in and just forget about the responsibilities that meant being a spy since childhood. Maybe some day, he will have a chance to deepen the bonds he’s made up until now, to become strong partners with the policeman and supplier, just like he had done with Taiya.
But today wasn’t that day.
---
Mira dashed into the room with Sakito and Taiya, carrying even more bags full of medicine. This time, they were meant for Jou, who was coughing and sneezing and scratching his eyes after spending hours beside Genba in his cat-like form.
“You didn’t know you were allergic to cat hair?!” She asked loudly.
