Work Text:

Sayaka has lived a good life, at least she thinks so. She does good in shool, her parents are grate and she has alwasy had friends. But there has always been something missing, its like a grate emptynes in her very soul. There is suposed to be something in her life that just isnt there. She just doesnt know what it is. She feels so silly sometimes, her live is good, there really isnt anything missing, and yet there is.

When she walks to school whith Hitomi, she gets the urge to call out to someone, but its only the two of them. In class she has to stop herself from leaning over to the desk next to her to whisper a joke, the persone sitting there isnt who its suposed to be, whoever that is. When she became a magical girl there was suposed to be someone else being ofered a contract. And when she's battleing reaths she keeps looking behind her for support from someone who isnt there.

Becoming a magical girl really was a mistake. It's a grate deal, fighting reaths for the reast of your life in excange for whatever wish you could dream of. But Sayaka just doesnt have what it takes, she doesnt even have what it takes to ask out Kyosuke, after wishing away his ingury. And now her short life as a magical girl is over, she can feel it, she's going to disapare, as all magical girls do eventually.

She feels her dispare overtake her, her soul gem cracking and transforming, she is becoming something else. Oh right. Magical girls dont just disapare, they turn into witches. It's like a distant memory but it feels like she's been here before.

Sudenly a bright light apares before her, a familiar pink magical girl reashes out and takes Sayakas soul gem in her hands.

"Madoka?"

Of course, thats what she was missing, her best friend, Madoka.

Tears weal in Sayakas eyes. "Madoka, i missed you."

Madookas smile is the same as always and as her soul gam in madokas hands turns to light and disapares so does her dispare. So thats what Madoka wished for.

"Thank you, Madoka."
