"Dad, we got mail from the studio." Sang spoke Kiara, princess of the pride lands and heir to the lion king franchise as she, accompanied by her mate Kovu ran to her father, letter in maw.
"Can't be the royalty check, thats not for another week. Maybe they want us back for the next movie, whatever or whenever that will be." Simba mused, as he got up from his sleeping position, trying not to disturb his mate Nala too much as she was sleeping in.
"It's not adressed to anyone specifically. Tho its from the Disney princess department." Mentioned Kovu as he lazily swaggered behind Kiara.
"Maybe they want to add me to the main princess line up." Kiara said with excitement in her voice.
"No use in playing guessing games, open it." Said Simba mirroring his daughters excitement. "If they decide to add you then I would be so happy for you. After all you've recently had your big screen debut, even if it was just as a cub." Added Simba as Kiara dropped the letter and began ripping open the envelope.
Once unfolded the trio began to quietly read the letter.
"Oh my god, yes. I will be added!" Exclaimed Kiara overjoyed. She began to jump around with giddiness.
"I'm so happy for you." Said Simba as he too began jumping around.
All this commotion caused Nala to slowly wake up. "What's going on?" She said while yawning.
"Kiara will be added to the Disney princess line up. She'll probably get her own merch in no time. " Declared Simba.
"Oh wow, that is great to hear." Said Nala. "I'm so proud of you." She said while rubbing her head against her daughters.
"Erm, guys. You might want to re-read the letter." Said Kovu who was stifling chuckles.
"Huh." Said Nala, Simba and Kiara in unison.
The trio walked back over to the letter and read it again.
"What? It says that Kiara will be...erm...no that can't be." Mumbled Simba as he read through the letter again and again.
"But I am the princess around here, why would they..." Kiara said in confusion.
Kovu finally burst out laughing. "Simba, you will be added to the princess line up." Declared Kovu.
Sure enough that was exactly what the letter said.
"I was a prince. Why would I be chosen to be a princess. That's stupid." argued Simba feeling undignified.
"Let's see. You had an "I want" song, right?" Asked Kovu, still sporting a shit eating grin.
"Kind of, but that doesn't mean..." Simba protested.
"You can communicate with helpful animals." Added Kovu in amusement.
"We ARE Animals. This is stupid." Pouted Simba.
"A strong man came ...sorry a strong lioness whom you fell in love with came into your life to get you back on track." Kovu kept listing.
"But I didn't return because of her. That's what my dads ghost did." Said Simba, hoping that this argument would put an end to Kovus cheeky princess quality assessment of his father in law.
It didn't.
"Still fell in love with a stronger mate." Countered Kovu. "Also can't forget the big birthday ceremony."
"What princess had that then?" Asked Simba, hoping Kovu was just making shit up.
"Sleeping beauty." Spat Kovu without hesitation.
Simba growled in resignation."OK, fine maybe there are a few similarities between me and some other Disney heirs to thrones but what exactly would they want to merchandise with me in a line that is primarely focused on little girls or effeminate little boys?" Simba asked.
"Well if the back of the letter is anything to go by, " Said Kovu smugly. " Then they want to put out a Simba mane styling head as well as a nail polish line called " Fierce Claws". Chuckled Kovu.
"Why me? Why not you and your dumb emo hair?" Simba asked rhetorically, knowing the answer full well.
"Great, another merch release for dad. Typical.Bloody typical" Poutet Kiara.
"Don't be like that Kiara. I'm sure you get your own line someday." Simba said, trying to console his daughter.
She wasn't having any of it.
"Shut up, princess Simba."
