Still together a few years after their time at KISS, Min Ho and Kitty attend Lara Jean and Peter's wedding as part of the wedding party.

basically, some cute moments in mooncovey's journey to/at lj + peter's wedding :)

Notes:

woohoo, my first mooncovey fic!

i've been obsessed with xo, kitty and mooncovey for months now, so it feels good to finally write for them. i knew i wanted to do something cute and fluffy, and this felt like a great way to tie my favorite fictional couple into the original family/sister dynamic from tatbilb that i loved so much. i hope you all have as much fun reading this as i did writing it.

thanks for reading, and enjoy!,

Chapter 1: the night before

Chapter Text

“Wake up, Covey. We’re here.”

Min Ho reached across the middle console and gently shook Kitty awake as they pulled into the parking lot of the hotel. She had fallen asleep on their late-night drive, tired after a long day of travel. Going from Seoul, to L.A., to Portland, to Seattle all in thirty-six hours was certainly not for the weak.

She groaned, slowly opening her eyes and reorienting herself.

“Mm, alright. I’ll grab our stuff while you check in.”

“Sounds great.”

“Ooh, it’s chilly,” Kitty remarked as she stepped out of the car for the first time in four hours.

Min Ho nodded in agreement, pulling her in for a hug. She melted into his chest, nearly falling asleep out of pure exhaustion.

He planted a kiss on her forehead, “you’re so adorable when you’re sleepy.”

“Hmm, I’m sure,” she rolled her eyes, “c’mon, let’s go. The sooner we get in, the sooner I can go to bed.”

They split up, Kitty unpacking their things from the car and Min Ho making his way to the check-in desk. She rolled the cart with their belongings towards the counter just as Min Ho was grabbing their keycards.

“Here you are, sir. Your suite is on the 12th floor, please don’t hesitate to let us know if you need anything,” the receptionist explained, strangely upbeat for eleven p.m..

“Of course, thank you.”

“Min Ho, really? A suite?”

“It’s a special weekend.”

“We won’t even be here most of the time!”

“But we will be in the evenings. And I think we should be comfortable.”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Always looking for an excuse to spoil me.”

“You know me too well.”

They were staying at a hotel that was just outside Seattle— where Peter and Lara Jean now lived— and a few minutes down the road from the wedding venue. It was a beautiful garden venue complete with all the fairytale details that LJ had always dreamed of, and Kitty couldn’t wait to see it in person.

As soon as the two made it to their room, Kitty flopped right onto their bed. To Min Ho’s credit, it was much more comfortable than the beds in the cheaper hotel rooms they’d stayed in. Her phone rang, waking her up from her brief slumber.

“Was that your dad?” Min Ho inquired afterwards, making his way over to the bed from the closet where he was hanging their clothes.

“Yep, he and Trina just got here a couple minutes ago.”

Daniel and Trina had a room at the same hotel, but made it a tad later on account of some traffic and an ill-timed bathroom break at a busy rest stop.

“Oh, great. Are we getting breakfast with them tomorrow?”

“Yeah, I think we’re gonna try out that café down the street before we head to the venue.”

“Sounds nice. I hung up your dresses for you. They’re next to my suits in the closet.”

“Thanks, babe.”

Min Ho was always so thoughtful, and she appreciated it now more than ever. Not only was she beyond exhausted, but she also had a great deal of nerves. She wanted everything to be perfect for LJ and Peter, so she couldn’t risk messing up a single decoration placement or speech. Even though it wasn’t technically her job, she felt somewhat responsible.

“How many suits did you end up bringing?”

He switched off the light, climbing into bed beside her.

“The full tux for the wedding day, and then a suit for the rehearsal and dinner.”

“Are you nervous to be in the wedding?”

“Kind of? I’m still a little surprised that Peter asked me to be a groomsman.”

“I’m not, he loves you.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know. Are you nervous?”

“I don’t know. I mean, it’s not my wedding, but I really do want everything to go well for them. They deserve it. And there’s just so much for me to do, I-”

Min Ho grabbed Kitty’s hand in the darkness of their room.

“Covey, I’m sure you’ll do great,” he leaned over and gave her a kiss, “but for now, I think you should get some rest. You need it.”

“Rude!” she exclaimed, kicking him under the covers.

They giggled like little kids, snuggling up together and drifting off to sleep. Despite the years they’d spent together, being this close always felt exciting, like having a sleepover with your childhood best friend.

“Goodnight, Covey. I love you.”

“I love you too, Min Ho.”
