If there was one thing Akito did not need, it was a picture of Kohane (fast asleep) curled up in An's arms like the hamster An would insist she was, combined with An having the goofiest simile on her face. Looking like she'd just won the lottery of Cute Moments of this week, which she'd win again next week and the next until the end of time at the rate she was going.
Attached to the image was the following message:
help me i'm dying of cuteness overload
Fine then.
Perish, hamster lover.
Mean :(
Seeing as An had sent about twenty messages composed of entirely gibberish before collecting herself enough to send that picture, it was fair to give her a little wake-up call. It was somewhat unfair when one considered that Akito would react in a similar – if not much, much worse – way if Toya fell asleep on his lap.
Go bug Akiyama about this , he sent, hoping it would dissuade any further communication.
She's busy. And some of my school friends think I'm single, before you suggest anyone else.
How would anyone think you're single?
They haven't met Kohane!
It was obvious even before you two were dating that you were hopelessly in love with her.
Hey!
Akito put his phone down and refocused on the English homework Toya had been encouraging him to finish for the past week. An sent him at least three more messages – probably denying that she was an insanely lovesick person while overenthusiastically complimenting everything Kohane had done and said and what she looked like and all those things. If scientists didn't think that it was possible to have a crush on the individual you were dating, they were about to experience a startling but really, really obvious revelation.
When An stopped relentlessly texting him to inform him of the inherent superiority of her partner compared to everyone else, he assumed Kohane was awake and felt just a little sorry for her. An could be overprotective and insanely kind – perhaps too kind – at times, and when she was in a state of Kohane-induced incoherence, it was even harder to get her to focus. That would last about five or ten minutes, then higher cognitive functioning would return and she'd probably go back to whatever she and Kohane had been reading (or discussing) before Kohane had fallen asleep.
At least Akito would have something to talk to Kohane about when An would drag Toya off to 'get drinks' during their next practice. It was an awfully hidden secret that she was trying to give him relationship advice – which Akito didn't think he needed; Toya was the best partner (yes, in the romantic sense, too) that he could've asked for.
He took a deep breath, then tried to get his attention back on the page. His homework unfortunately wasn't going to write itself.
