don’t leave me in the dark again

Summary:

His chubby four year old cheeks were flushed red with fever, and his eyes were glassy, and red rimmed. He was hungry too, but with no energy to prepare anything. He hadn’t eaten since he started feeling feverish and shaky, which was late last night.

Katsuki had tried to phone his parents, but with no success, their phones were either turned off, or they didn’t think they needed to worry about the boy.

Chapter Text

His bottom lip trembled with the wave of oncoming despair. Katsuki Bakugou’s parents had left for Seoul Fashion week, leaving him alone at home for the time they were absent.

Unluckily for him, he’d caught some sort of cold or flu, meaning he couldn’t bring himself to show up to kindergarten, or make any food for himself, or do anything other than swaddle himself in blankets on the sofa and watch All Might documentaries on the TV.

His head hurt as well, and the sound of the busy neighbourhood didn’t help much with the incessant throbbing, all in all, he felt miserable. He heard the phone ring from somewhere in his house, but he was tired, and his legs felt like jelly that had been crushed.

“Momma…” he whined softly, squeezing his eyes shut, and pressing his head into the back of the couch cushions. Katsuki brought a small hand up to his cheek, and palmed it, feeling the sickly heat radiating from his face, even without a thermometer.

He was sleepy now as well, but poor Katsuki felt too ill to even try and climb the stairs to his room. He had started tipping sideways frim exhaustion, when he heard the doorbell ring, and a loud knock on his door.

His momma had always told him “ignore everyone who comes to the door, Katsuki,” so he didn’t move, and shoved his hands over his ears so it didn’t make his head hurt worse.

But then, he heard a familiar voice call from the door.

”Katsuki dear, would you open the door for me and Izuku please?” called Auntie Inko.

The small boy felt dazed as he stumbled off the couch, dragging his blankets wrapped around his shoulders with him. As he opened the door, he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him, and he tripped into Auntie’s arms, his eyes fluttering shut from his headache, exacerbated by the sudden movement.

“Oh!” Inko exclaimed as she caught Katsuki gently. Her features pulled into a frown when she realised how warm he was, and how sickly his face looked. Her expression saddened when she pressed her hand to his forehead, and felt the heat emanating off the skin.

She pulled him up to her chest, and held him there as she walked into the house, locking the door behind her.

”Momma?” Izuku asked, his eyes wide, “What’s wrong with Kacchan?”

”Katsuki’s sick, baby. Auntie Mitsuki and Uncle Masaru left him here, and poor Katsuki has no one to make sure he’s okay,” Inko explained gently, placing him on his bed.

“Aw. Poor Kacchan,” the little boy said, “are we gonna take care of him?”

”What kinda people would we be, letting Katsuki be ill all alone?” his mother said with a smile, booping his nose, “Of course we’re gonna help him.”

Katsuki whimpered a bit in his sleep, and Inko shushed at him softly.
