Work Text:

Amity was at a loss.
Luz had recently been sick from Common Mold and Amity had stressed herself too much taking care of her, and she knew she shouldn't have done that, but then she fought Hunter, and now… where was he? And then of COURSE her mother had to scold her for coming home much too late.

It just ended up being too overwhelming for her.

So here she was, sitting in the middle of her room, staring at a wall.
Sitting.
Staring.
She blinked.

Moving required thought, and she couldn't do that right now. Her whole body felt like it was about to give up on her.
She didn't notice at first, but salty tears began to roll down her cheek. She brushed them away and fell onto her side, facing away from the door.

Footsteps outside of her room; quiet but Amity could hear them well enough to know it was her sister.
Who managed to always know when Amity wasn't feeling well.

Emira slowly entered the room, but Amity’s head was too fuzzy to greet her.
She sat down on her bed.
“Hey, Mittens.” Emira said quietly. “What’s up?”
Amity grumbled to herself. Nothing was up. Everything was down.
Including her age.
Uh oh.
For the first time in the last hour, Amity finally realized she was slipping.

Emira put a hand on Amity’s back and kissed her lightly on the top of her head. It’s okay if you don't wanna talk about it.”
She was silent.
“...Do you want your pacifier?”
Amity shot up. HOW did Em always know??
Staring at her now, and seeing nothing but comfort in her sister's eyes, her body relaxed. It was okay. She had taken care of Amity when she was regressed before, after all.
Amity nodded. “Mhm.” Her throat hurt too much to talk. She didn't know why. It just did.
Emira got up and went over to the drawer where Amity kept her regression supplies.

Walking back over to the bed, where Amity had laid back down, she pushed the pacifier into the little’s mouth. Amity closed her eyes, the cool paci feeling comforting in her mouth.

Emira smiled and laid down next to Amity. “Hey, little kitten. I’ll be here when you wake up, okay?”

Amity nodded, but then looked nervous. “But wha’ if Mom see?” She mumbled.
Emira twirled her finger, casting an illusion. “If she comes in, it’ll look like we're studying together.”
Amity seemed satisfied and closed her eyes again, curling her legs up to her chest and dipping her head down.
Emira tucked a bit of hair behind her sister's ear, and then closed her eyes as well.

Amity slept well, knowing she was comfortable and safe with her sister.
She would be okay. It would all turn out alright.
