Chapter 1: A Heart Heavy

Chapter Text

Wednesday Addams stared at the paper moving to the right as she typed, swiftly gliding her fingers across the clacking typewriter. It was 37 minutes into her writing time yet she kept losing focus. Crumples of paper were in the black wastebasket by her desk, Thing did his best to keep up with the girl’s agitated tosses of paper after paper.

”Want to talk?” Thing stood next to the black typewriter, letting the excess paper fall into a scatter across the room.

“No. Why would I squander my ideal writing time to engage in your idiotic therapeutic teachings.” Wednesday remarked without glancing once at the stitched appendage standing on her desk.

”I just thought you looked upset.”

“I am not upset. I am not anything. Feelings are a weakness, Thing. And I cannot afford to pertain to any weaknesses after the Hyde incident. Only if then I had had none would Enid have been unharmed.” Wednesday ripped the last page out of her typewriter before closing it and standing from her chair.

”She’s okay you know? She never got seriously injured. “Things scattered over to the girl, who was grabbing a black towel, cloth, and shower cap from her top drawer in her closet.

“She shouldn’t have gotten injured at all, she shouldn’t have those deep scars on her face and abdomen. I shouldn’t have let that happen.” Wednesday shuts the bathroom door suddenly, almost cramming Thing in between it and the floorboards.

As Thing scattered back up and as soon as he landed on his fingertips the door leading to the dorm barged open. Making way for a glistening glow of sunshine mixed with stripes of baby blue and light pink.

“Hey Thing!” Enid exclaimed skipping over to her iridescent side of the dorm.

Thing propped up to wave to the jovial girl.

“Thing I had the best day! Mr. Anderson canceled botany class, so I had the last period free to go to the Weathervane where I got a free Unicorn Frappuccino from Tyler for helping him with his homework. And I got to catch up with Yoko, Bianca, and Ajax. I swear I’ve been so caught up on everything that has happened recently to spend time with any of them. Speaking of Ajax, him and I are finally getting back to being somewhat not awkward after breaking up last school year. I think I’m done dating guys for a while, I can’t stand any of their smells with these new heightened werewolf senses.” As Enid rambled on about certain excited aspects of her day, Thing scurried out of the dorm to steal a magazine he felt was worth reading; Wednesday had turned off the shower and gotten ready for bed, with eyes red from silently sulking under the sound of the water hitting the tub.

She opened the door to find her roommate unpacking her pink backpack filled with schoolwork from the past week. Wednesday crept across the dorm, taking quick glances as her roommate began to change clothes, she didn’t know why she kept looking over. She felt sorrowful for causing the marks on her roommates soft, golden skin; more than that, she found herself observing her features. How her abs faintly showing in her toned body through the thin layer of soft skin. How her body curves inwards from the sides of her chest, presenting a rather gorgeous hourglass figure. Enid only had her shirt off for a brief moment, making sure to keep her bra on, yet Wednesday felt like she was watching her for eternity; an eternity that Wednesday felt was greater than heaven itself. Wednesday didn’t believe in a heaven or hell, she believe it to be a merely made up place for people to see comfort in when faced with the unknown. But to her imagination, she felt that heaven would be what some described as hell: an eternal lit place of fire and damnation, filled with the wicked screams of the tortured. But to Wednesday, the place would lack people except for the dead, the dying, and Enid. The one person she could tolerate in the woeful world(not in the delightful way as Wednesday would prefer), was Enid. Her bubbly, jolly roommate that seems like she showers in glittery and streamers. Her polar opposite. Yet somehow, opposites attract.

“Wednesday?” The goth snapped out of her trance as she looked up from the body she was staring at to find her roommate staring at her, with an amused expression that quickly turned concern as Enid looked closer to see her roommate puffy eyed, something she had never witnessed before.

“Wednesday? W-Whats wrongs?” Enid slowly turned to sit next to Wednesday, who had looked away from her roommate, red from being caught gazing at Enid and from not being fully done from her sorrowing. Wednesday never cries, not since the witnessing of her pet scorpion Nero’s tragic death. Yet, Wednesday waited an extra while before letting herself to blink, allowing the shower to sting her eyeballs. Making herself feel pain that she did not enjoy this occasion to feel a lift of guilt from the thought of Enid being harmed by Wednesday’s own doing.

“Wednesday?” Enid took her hand to the girl next to her’s, looking deep into her dark, intoxicating eyes that feel like death but one you wouldn’t mind waiting for.

“It appears I was experiencing maladaptive daydreaming whilst staring into your territory. I do apologize.” She looked away turning to get up but was halted by a surprisingly strong hand pulling her back down to the bed.

“Wens, what’s wrong? I know you aren’t one to talk about feelings and stuff but I can tell you’re upset, please.” Enid kept her hand on Wednesday’s cold, pale hand, but to Enid it always makes her feel warm. When Wednesday looked up to meet her gaze, all she saw was the three scars that she caused. She looked down, letting her shoulders fall with her as she felt a wave of tightness in her neck.

Enid squeezed her hand in reassurance.

“I… um. I just feel rather at fault for those marks on your face. It was completely my fault and you should have never have had to save me from my own causing and demise. You were hurt trying to prevent me from being hurt and I cannot forgive myself.” She looked over to her hand being caressed by Enid’s thumb.

“Wens… you know I don’t blame you right?” Enid’s hand left Wednesday’s and traveled to her pale cheek, slightly causing a tint of pink to slip through. She cupped Wednesday’s soft face, moving her thumb back and forth, feeling her delicate skin as the goth’s piercing eyes gave a gentle look. “I would do it all over again if it means to you were safe. I wolfed out for you Wednesday, I chose to go into those woods for you, I knew you were in danger. I knew I was going to get hurt but I didn’t care, you know why? Because I care about you so much and I can’t imagine my life without you.”

Wednesday hesitated for a moment, flickering her eyes down to Enid’s soft, pink lips. Enid noticed, now realizing how close the two were, she could feel the heat Wednesday’s eye gave off, and she could feel the heat in her stomach.

Enid slowly closed the gap in between them, with a slight uncertainty, kissed the girl she has desired for so long. Her gentle lips touched gracefully over the other’s, staying there for a moment, as both of the girls felt flustered. They pulled apart for a moment, gazing into each other’s eyes before pulling back in, this time firmer. They slowly moved their hands to the other’s bodies, Wednesday pulled Enid in with two arms by the waist while Enid kept one hand on Wednesday’s cheek and the other on her shoulder. Their lips began to move, leaning harder into the passionate kiss. Wednesday’s tongue moved to brush against Enid’s bottom lip, to where she gave access and open her mouth, letting herself get further lost. Enid was taken aback, she had kissed a boy before, but to experience a woman’s touch, a woman none other than Wednesday Addams was exhilarating. They broke apart, catching their breath. Enid slowly fell down on the bed, pulling Wednesday down with her. Wednesday slowly guided herself into Enid’s arms, now comfortable in the silence once again without a pit of guilt in the back of her conscience. She always knew she had a soft spot for Enid, she knew early on that she liked her more than any other person she had met. But after the kiss, she knew something even deeper. Wednesday loved Enid.
