The Joy of Mismatched Couple's Costumes

Summary:

“This could have been a cool couple’s costume idea…” Kagiura pouts, fidgeting with one pretty convincing-looking gauntlet.

Notes:

if you're not that familiar with genshin impact, honkai star rail or zenless zone zero:
-hirano is dressed as hugo vlad from zzz (i ship him with lycaon)
-kagi is dressed as wriothesley from genshin (i ship him with neuvillette)
-miyano would be dressed as phainon and wants sasaki to be mydei, from hsr (they're incredibly gay)

v self-indulgent, i just like the idea of them cosplaying these charas, either because they'd look hot or for the comedy of it :D hope yall enjoy!

Work Text:

“This could have been a cool couple’s costume idea…” Kagiura pouts, fidgeting with one pretty convincing-looking gauntlet. Miyano had been over for days to help make it, along with a friend of his who is into cosplay. He feels Hirano’s hands on his hair, like fussing with the dog ear hairstyle. The blond had briefly floated the idea of maybe dyeing Kagiura’s hair with grey streaks to better match Wriothesley’s character design, but the younger man looked at Hirano’s hair and declined the offer with a slight wince.

Ungrateful brat, Hirano would have taken him to a salon, not done it himself.

“And have me wear Neuvillette’s outfit? That thing has to be a mini-oven without even counting the wig, I’d much rather wear this one.” Hirano stops messing with his boyfriend’s hair and turns to the mirror, checking that the (very long, and kind of uncomfortable) extensions and the single red contact are all in place. He smiles proudly, the fang add-ons making him look particularly devilish. “I already kinda look like Hugo, and the fangs make me look good.”

Big, strong hands make their way to Hirano’s waist, and through the mirror he sees his boyfriend drawing closer and burying his face in his neck. He feels the softest of kisses under his low ponytail. “You always look good.”

As charmed as he is by Kagiura’s displays of affection, Hirano can’t help but laugh the longer he looks at their reflection. Confused puppy eyes stare at him in question, which only makes the laughter worse. Miyano had described the athlete’s character as “very intimidating-looking” when he had chosen their respective costumes, and they had all agreed at first sight, but…

Well, Kagiura at least has height going for him.

“This is definitely a weird couple,” Hirano gasps out when he finishes laughing. Only his boyfriend’s sturdy frame and his arms wrapped around Hirano’s waist stopped him from toppling over during his laughing fit.

“Eh, they kinda match.” Kagiura smiles as he pulls Hirano more firmly against himself, content to watch his beloved’s joy in the mirror. He really does look cute with those fangs. “Dog man and their beautiful long-haired partner.”

“Oh, shut up,” Hirano mumbles, rolling his eyes. However, he doesn’t dare waste the opportunity to turn his head back for a kiss. The younger man certainly doesn’t complain about the little fanged bite to his lip once he pulls back.

They separate in order to get everything they need ready (and also to not get too distracted). Mostly, they pack drinks, snacks, and some comfortable clothes in case they get tired later. It’s not like Ogasawara would complain, if his comment about “nobody leaving for dumb shit” was any indication.

Once all the bags are ready, Kagiura pauses for a second while reaching for the car keys. Puzzled, Hirano tilts his head to the side in question.

Kagiura hums. “Do you think Miya-kun managed to convince Sasaki-san to wear that costume he was really excited about?”

“Who? The shirtless Greek warrior prince?” Howling laughter forces Hirano to lean on the bedside table for support. He’s not even thinking about how Sasaki’s arms are probably half of that guy’s on a very good day. No, he’s recalling his friend’s expression at the request. “I’ll give Miyano a prize if he manages to get him to wear that. Did you see his face when he showed us the pictures?”

Even without getting to the party yet, this is already such a good day for Kagiura. Every day where he gets to hear Hirano laugh this much is a perfect one.

“Hey, you know how convincing he can be.” Kagiura shrugs. They may not have known each other during high school, but Miyano has certainly been the origin point of endless shenanigans in their adult lives.

(A lot of them are actually Kagiura’s doing, but their seniors are still under the false impression that Miyano is the sole mastermind. Both of the younger men think they’ll catch on in a year or two.)

“Tell me about it,” Hirano snorts, his thoughts probably taking the same route his boyfriend’s did. After checking his watch, the blond concludes they need to leave now; arriving late at a normal party is fine, but this one is for Eimi’s birthday, and Hirano doesn’t feel like having Ogasawara glaring at him the whole night. “We should get going.”

“Yeah. But first, Taiga?” Kagiura’s tone is almost shy, a faint blush high on his cheeks. It makes him look extra cute, in Hirano’s very biased opinion. “You’re going to keep the extensions for a while, right?”

“Of course, I got pretty good quality ones and these things aren’t cheap,” Hirano replies in a very matter-of-fact way. Then he pauses, and turns around only to find a pretty blush over Kagiura’s features. As the cogwheels turn, a teasing grin takes over the blond’s face. “Why? Do you like them, Akki?”

A completely flustered-looking Kagiura hurriedly makes his way out of the apartment, with the sound of Hirano’s playful chuckle following him. It’s either running away from that incredibly attractive expression, or definitely making both of them late.

Oh, Hirano will definitely have his fun with those extensions.
