Work Text:
Golden light poured into the small bedroom through the cracks in the blinds, waking Aizawa up prematurely as a band of light landed directly on his closed eyelids. He rolled onto his stomach and buried his face into his pillow with a soft groan, finally escaping the light that dared to wake him. Blindly reaching for his nightstand, he fumbled around till his fingers caught onto his phone. Aizawa lifts his head slowly as he adjusts to the amount of light in the room and checks the time. It was only 5 minutes till his alarm was meant to go off, though he thought it was much early judging by the exhaustion he felt deep within his bones. There was no point in trying to get a measly 5 more minutes of sleep so he sat up and forced himself out of bed to get ready for the day ahead. Aizawa stumbled to the bathroom first to shower, even as the initially cold water hit him, the sleepy fog that clouded his mind didn't fade. As he exited the shower and got dressed he hoped that coffee would clear his sleep ridden mind, but coffee could only energize him to an extent. Ever since moving into the dorms he's found himself feeling more exhausted than usual. He was still adjusting to the change but his mornings were dull and quiet, devoid of the energy the mornings were filled with when he would wake up next to Hizashi. The teachers' dorm rooms themselves were like nice hotel rooms but there was not enough room for two people to comfortably live together in a single dorm. As much as he hates to admit it, he misses Hizashi's presence. Aizawa sighed, quickly finishing his coffee and grabbing a jelly pouch before collecting up the stack of half marked test papers off of his desk. He then left his dorm and headed for UA.
The school was still empty, classes weren't going to start for another hour anyways. Aizawa was always one of if not the first to arrive at the teachers lounge, and today was no different. He set up in the quiet lounge and began grading the rest of the tests he had. The quiet faded as time passed, more and more people started showing up and eventually the school was filled with the familiar bustle of teens and heroes alike. Hizashi hadn't arrived yet though. He did arrive eventually with only a few minutes to spare till classes started. Hizashi looked like he just rolled out of bed, well, for Hizashi standards at least. His hair was left down which was the most telling sign of his haphazard morning, but there were also little details like how his mustache lacked the neatness it typically had and how frazzled he looked in general. Aizawa eyed him as he entered the teachers lounge and continued to glare at him as he frantically looked for the worksheets he printed last night.
“Sho-” Hizashi started but cut himself off as he finally looked at his husband. He notices the slight glare Aizawa is tossing in his direction but also the small (and adorable) pout he has plastered to his face. He clears his throat before continuing. “Do you remember where I put those worksheets I printed out yesterday?”
“Top left file…” Aizawa mumbles, pointing back at the file in question.
“Thanks, hon.” Hizashi sighs, relieved to have found the worksheets he needed. “Hey, you ok though, yeah? You seem more cranky than usual.” The question comes after a beat of tense silence, the obvious concern lacing Hizashi's tone is balanced out by the teasing end of his words. Aizawa stiffens slightly at the question, his pout deepening.
“You’re later than usual…” Aizawa grumbled, looking down and crossing his arms. He missed waking up with Hizashi and being able to spend their entire morning together, especially considering the little time they could have together in the evenings due to their conflicting patrol schedules as well as never ending mountains of marking. He missed just being around his husband.
“I know and I'm sorry, I'll see you at lunch and I'll make up for the lost time tonight somehow.” Hizashi pressed a quick kiss to the top of Aizawa's head. “I gotta run and set up for my class though, love you!” Hizashi left as quick as he came, bolting out of the lounge before Aizawa could say anything else back. He just slumped back in his chair and waited for the bell to ring so he could get through the rest of his day hopefully without incident
Soon enough lunch came around and on his way to the cafeteria, Aizawa felt a hand lightly grab his shoulder. He looked over his shoulder at the hand who grabbed him, of course, it was Hizashi, this made Aizawa stop in his tracks.
“Are you itching to grab some food right now or do you have some time to spare?” Hizashi asked slyly.
“Maybe just for you I've got some time.” Aizawa smirked back at him. Letting himself be led away by Hizashi into an empty corridor. Hizashi wrapped his arms around Aizawa's waist when he knew the coast was clear, gently swaying with Aizawa in his arms, feeling his warmth. Aizawa leans into the touch and rests his forehead on Hizashi's shoulder, letting out a content sigh.
“Ive missed you…” Aizawa mumbles into his shoulder, closing his eyes and breathing in his scent. He rolls his head to the side in an attempt to look up at Hizashi.
“You know, you’re really cute when you’re needy” Hizashi smirked and grabbed Aizawa's head gently, guiding him to press a sickeningly sweet kiss to his lips. Aizawa kissed back, letting himself relax in Hizashi's hold, humming quietly.
“Its not my fault we get no time together anymore.” Aizawa pouted, burying his face back into Hizashi's neck.
“How about I sneak into your room and we cuddle tonight?” Hizashi said as he racked his hands over Aizawa's back.
“Id like that, but how about we get lunch before we run out of time, I’m starving.” Aizawa lifted his head from Hizashi's neck, slowly pulling away in order to head to the cafeteria like nothing happened. Hizashi hesitantly unraveled his arms from around Aizawa, instead opting to let their hands brush against each other as they walked down to the cafeteria to grab lunch.
