Building in the Dark.//Gaty/Two

Summary:

Gaty and Two had a certain thing. It went every morning, every night. Like clockwork almost.
Gaty would write a note on an orange sticky note to Two that morning. After whatever happens, Two would check and find the note. Then they would write one back, and repeat. They would have pieces of conversations, and thoughts on how the day went.
Gaty was in the middle of writing his new letter when Two called.

Work Text:

Gaty and Two had a certain thing. It went every morning, every night. Like clockwork almost.

Gaty would write a note on an orange sticky note to Two that morning. After whatever happens, Two would check and find the note. Then they would write one back, and repeat. They would have pieces of conversations, and thoughts on how the day went.

Gaty was in the middle of writing his new letter when Two called.

“Gaty! Hey!” Two yelled out to Gaty in a happy British accent they always had.

“Oh! What’s up Two?” Gaty asked in turn.

“I was wondering if you wanted to help me host a challenge! My co-hosts are baking the next Cake At Stake and won’t let me even talk to them. Mostly Four being protective of X, but you get it.” Two finishes, staring at Gaty.

“I’d love to! Thanks, Two!” She said, with a happy smile that Two felt a little tingle at. They looked away, regained themselves, and turned back to Gaty.

“Now, come this way!” Two said, as they pointed to the roof of the building they stayed at.

“We have to get all the way up there?” Gaty asked, a little more shocked than she meant to say. Two waved it off with a shake of their hand.

“Well, some perks come with traversing this place with such a Algebralien!” Two said. “You’re going to fly with me. I’d rather not take the elevator after it got jammed by that block of colors which ruined my painting .” Their voice took on a much more bitter tone at the end of the sentence, before smiling once more.

Gaty looks around as she gets lifted up, and it almost felt normal. But not really, considering she could see the ground and the (quite clear) fact she was about three feet above it at least.

“Well, you seem to be taking to it nicely more than most!” Two yelled from the ground. They started to float a bit until at Gaty’s level, taking her in their arms and hugging them close.

“This is… just for precaution, since it’s your first time.” They said, definitely nervous. Gaty couldn’t tell though, thinking about what she was doing. Floating with a strange living green number on a random night was not what was planned for her. Actually, she didn’t really have anything planned for herself besides bagging some sandwiches and giving them to the contestants.

Oh well. Guess nothing goes as planned anyway.

They floated up to the roof and as Gaty fell with an audible “Thunk!” on it, Two landed slowly and much more gracefully.

Two helped Gaty up and as she regained her bearings, Two dusting her off since she couldn’t (Having no arms does cause some problems).

“Now, Gaty, I will pay mind that you are not an Algebralien, so here.” Two waved their hands in the air, and out of thin air popped a few materials. “These are easily bendable pieces of metal and wood and whatnot. I want you to help me make my obstacle course! Since there is something that I would like help with. Of course, I could do it myself, but help is favored over none.”

Gaty stared at the materials and Two went off to work, waving their hand and out popped many more things. They assembled a multitude of planks, metal, clay, and other things for the obstacle course slowly becoming things like spikes, platforms, and other kinds of things.

“Wow!” She said to Two, who flashed a carefree smile on her face.

Two thought happy thoughts to themself before continuing.

She tried bending a piece of metal. It was easy. Almost like Play-Doh being squished.

She slowly made it into some spikes. It was a nice bit. Very shiny and metallic, but so easy to make.

“Good job, Gaty!” The green number shouts across the place they were building. “Add it to this!”

She walks over and tosses them expertly. Working with only her legs all her life made it so she knew how to do a lot .

Today was no exception. Neither was this task.

She started crafting and building and adding the obstacle course, even helping out Two with some designs until it was all done. It looked pretty dangerous. Good for the contestants, she supposed. She felt lucky she wasn’t competing anymore.

“That’s it Gaty!” They clapped their hands together before continuing “Now, we may go back to the building.”

They float Gaty back with themselves, and plop onto the roof before just sitting under the stars.

“The stars look brighter than normal.” Two said.

“Well, we finally have all the lights off around here.” Gaty replied. “I haven’t seen it like this for a while. It’s pretty.”

“It is.” Two said as they stared up at the stars. “It’s great. You did great with the building, by the way.”

“You told me.” Gaty smiled as she muttered. “But again, thank you for that.”

“Anytime.”

“…”

“…”

Then a door opened below. The doors of the huge hotel creaked open to reveal Bottle walking around cheerfully.

“We should go inside.” Gaty whispered. “Bottle’s here now.”

Two nodded and sat up before stretching. Gaty stood up. Two followed after. They both walked into the hotel and ran to their rooms.

“Ack! It’s so dark!” Two yelled.

“Be quiet!” Gaty whispered, quite loudly. “The others are sleeping. While we run like chickens without heads on every floor since we don’t know where we are, we can still wake them. And Bottle is already awake.”

Two shut their mouth before following Gaty’s footsteps. They didn’t see or feel their door anytime soon. Two sighed and cast a green light from their hand.

“…You were able to do that the whole time?”

“It’s been like 2 minutes!”

“Shh! Not the point. Now let’s keep going.”

“Alright, alright.”

They finally were able to find Gaty’s room, and she ran in before turning on the light and relaxing. Two closed the door behind him before leaving.

They snapped their fingers and went to their room immediately. They were able to do that, too. But it was worth it to stay with Gaty.

Two laid back on their bed. It was good.

Gaty was here.

Everything was fine.
