Work Text:
Frisk woke up to the sound of the control panel beeping. A voice that seemed so far away became louder each time she gained consciousness. Her hand reached out to the button but failed terribly, she didn't have the strength.
“Oxygen. Active. Hyper drive. Inactive. Wings. Inactive. Medical bay. Active. Systems. 50%. Communications. Inactive. Scanners. Active…” the list went on until it started to repeat itself.
She pushed herself up, still feeling the world around her move way too quickly. She could see sparks from above but it was small. She tossed her head to the side to see flashing lights. The systems are broken. She felt around her arm rest to press random buttons. Anything to work but nothing. She couldn't get up. She needs more rest, but she must move.
Another push to go to the control panel pressing random buttons until she heard the repeating voice stop. The world seems like a blur to her at this point. She held her head as she tried to level her breathing. She could see a little better. She pressed a flashing red button and another voice came up.
A hologram showed a straight line. When it spoke it moved, "Captain. It's nice to hear from you again. The systems are semi-operational. I am unsure how long I have to be within this console.”
Frisk couldn't wrap her head around what happened. She just couldn't even think straight. Many thoughts ran through her like a wild fire. She took a couple deep breaths. “Chara… I think we crashed.”
Frisk could hear a low chuckle, “we did crash. You need rest. You banged your head through the turbulence. We got sucked into somewhere.”
Frisk covered her ears to only hear the beeping and the static. It was too much. “Chara. I must rest. Is my room-”
“Destoyed Captain."
A wave of sadness washed over her. There's not much to do about that now. She got up slowly. “Medical bay?”
“Operational. Everything is still intact. Sleep there.”
She nodded in agreement. She was holding onto the walls “scan the area as far as you can. Then transfer yourself to my comms. We can't stay here forever…”
“Yes Captain!" Chara responded, then turned off the hologram.
Frisk's head was killing her. She left the bridge to see if the hall's ways were damaged. The way to the living quarters is damaged. The only way was right. The way to the medway, power generators, oxygen bay. She walked towards the med bay to see lights flickering. Some smoke but when saved her hand it cleared. When she pressed her hand on the scanner to open the doors. It retracted like a puzzle.
Entering the small room which held a bed in the middle. There were robotic arms and a large mri right behind the bed. She laid down as an arm scanned her body with blue light. Everything around her felt off.
“Scanning vitals.” A more robotic voice spoke. She just laid there. “Bones. Intact. Muscle. No tears. Bruising. Light.” There was a small silence but before she spoke. She felt a pinch to her arm. “Blood. Normal. Minor injuries. Treatment. Rest.”
Everything buzzed to a silent as she closed her eyes and did what the medical bot requested. Rest.
(*´・∀・)
It's been a few days and she finally woke up. The room was dimmed. When she woke up the lights turned on with a flicker. Tossing her legs over the bed. Her head wasn't pulsing too bad this time, she stumbled but gained balance and a clear head.
Walking back to the bridge. To have the console blink. “Chara?”
The hologram appeared once more, “Yes Captain Frisk.”
“How's the scan?” Frisk questioned the A.I.
“The scan showed the air is safe to breathe in. It was scanned that there is life. Signs of life. But it seems to be proof.”
Frisk walked over to the console and held out her wrist. The hologram disappeared and re appeared on the wrist. Smaller.
“Thank you, Chara.”
She walked back where she came from but heading further down from the med bay. There was an exit hatch. She did the same thing with the med bay. Pressing her hand on the hand scanner to have it open. She looked around to see she was surrounded by trees. Large ones. She hasn't seen trees in so long, and the air felt so fresh.
Chara spoke up near her ear piece. “Captian, there are no life forms here. Not even an ant.”
That unsettled Frisk. She continued to walk further, deeper into the forest. When she was a few meters away. She could see the ship in smoke. Torn in half was the other wing. She frowned, holding her arm. Trying to find some comfort.
“We must part.” Chara spoke.
She nod in agreement, “show me a map and we can find some settlements.”
Chara formed into a map that showed the radius of her surrounding. It was just trees and rocks. She co tinued onward and slowly there was no ship to seen on the hologram. Just her and Chara voice talking to each other.

It was night fall and she leaned against a tree to look at the sky. Her head ache was still there. She wished to be up there once more. She study the stars, she even noticed that the stars are different from where she was. She couldn't even find her home planet. She wasn't home anymore.
“Chara… you know why I named you.”
There was a small silence until the A.I spoke. “You told before that you named me after a friend.”
Frisk nod in agreement, “they were amazing. They helped me work on you. But they died not long after you were completed.” She drew circles in the sand.
She was remembering her childhood. The way she use to play in the city. Remembering when the time was just innocent, as well naive. Frisk couldn't help it, they both were small in the big city.
The only difference is Chara grew in the poorer side. Frisk grew up in the richer side of town.
“Chara sounds like an amazing person Captian.” Chara spoke.
“They were smart. I miss them dearly.” There was a small silence until Frisk spoke more. “They would love this place. All these stars.” Frisk raised her hand to point that the stars. Almost playing connect the dots.
“You should rest.” Chara spoke.
Frisk sighed as she scooted down and rested onto the tree even more. “Alright.”
When she woke up in the morning to feel a little sore. She got up with a help of a tree and continued to walk towards any direction. She walked for hours, scanning fruits to see if they were safe to eat. Anything. She was so unsure now.
Then something remarkable happened. She found a village. A small town. It looked run down. Deserted. She looked to see there was ash in particular spots, yet no fire. She stepped over them, she was having a bad feeling about this.
The cars were parked nicely to the side, the grass were large and uncut. The houses looks like they were vacant for a long while. There was no one here. She traveled into each house to see it was empty. Rotten food and not even roaches. She held her nose as she walked out.
“There are no life forms here… where did you scan them” She gagged through as she spoke.
Chara spoke near her ear piece. “There are evidence… I swear I didn't lie to you Captain." Chara was rambling now and all Frisk was thinking about is all these people.
Then she finally came across it. Bones. A stack of them. She froze. She looked around to only see dust and bones. Hardly any weapons, she carefully reached out to touch one bone. But it all crumbled and some turned to dust. She didn't moved but just stared.
They must've been here for awhile, she really isn't home anymore. She can't move them. She can't give them a proper burial. It's just them now. Frisk stood there for a moment. Looking at the bones remembering the first time she saw a body. She couldn't bury it, it was all twisted. She remembered when she was a recruit that they had to drag her away. That wasn't a pleasant memory.
“Captian?” Chara asked.
She shook her head, “oh yes. My bad. I uh… remembering my first time I saw a body.” She spoke honestly.
Chara didn't continue to talk after but Frisk had to keep going. She's been surviving off of fruits that she has found. That's the only thing living.
She left the town behind and looked up at another mountain. Just more and more. She was getting tired. Wishing she had a speeder to ride it would make it all faster. She sat down at another nearby tree. This is too much for her. Maybe she could go back to the ship. Build a speeder there.
That would take another day and maybe years to achieve that. She just had to endure it.
The nights became colder, even her clothing wasn't providing her warmth. She started to shiver as she looked around. Maybe she could start a fire. She picked up some twigs and lit it.
Warm at last.
She didn't mind falling asleep now. “Captian…”
“Hmm?”
“Do you think we'll ever get home?”
Frisk couldn't speak for a moment. Nor did she have the answers, but she couldn't say anything. “I… don't know. We might never go home. Maybe we can make a farm. Live like…” she was snapping her fingers. “Homesteaders.”
Chara laughed, “you'll never survive.”
Frisk smiled, “yeah… I'll miss the stars.”
She looked up to see the moon was full and bright. The only thing she heard was the crackling of the fire. This is nice. She can't stay here forever. No. She needs to get home. Her crew is waiting for her. Her squadron.
Man she misses those boys. “Do you think James is eating in the mess hall right now?” She asked out loud.”
“James is always trying to get a snack during missions. There will be no doubt.” Chara confirmed.
“Andrew… probably fighting Makè.” She dreamed that day.
They were the best boys she ever had.
Chara was silent, “they are probably searching for you.”
“What happened?” She finally asked the question. “I just remembered that we got a distress signal from the Nebula. I left the SL-15 with my battle ship. And all of sudden. Turbulence.”
Chara was silent. “I can't say. You passed out and everything went dark. I can't even remember and I'm a computer. When we entered this space, we were crashing. You wouldn't wake up.” Chara lightly explained.
Frisk nods, crashes. A different space, this is something new. Navigation, well she was trained for this. She already had the area map where she walked. Making sure to get as much ground as she could. There were no issues in that.
Looking up at the sky, wishing she could chart the sky. She wished for everything. She laid down on the ground as she made a ship sound and used her hand like a kid. Pretending her hand was her precious aircraft.

It's been a couple hard days traveling but she was focused on something. There was interference further into the mountain. It looked like it was even glitching the system of her suit. She was at the border of it. It was invisible but she could feel it. She put her hand through it and pulled it back.
“There's life in there. I know it.” Chara spoke.
She was hesitant to step through without safety. “Let's make some rope.” Frisk uttered.
She turned on her heels to find some vines that were on some boulders further down. It wasn't a bad walk but a little steep. When she gathered some vines and tied them gently together. Small pieces, long pieces were tied. When she made a long enough tether, she wrapped the edge of the vine to her belt hook. She took a deep breath and walked through.
When she did the vine didn't tear in half but intact. Another test. She walked out. And it was successful. She was able to leave. She let go of the vine and left it inside. Frisk walked further but it wasn't long where she saw a child looking down.
“Hey kid. Be careful.” Frisk stood in a wide stance but crouched.
The kid whipped their heads and they both froze. She looked exactly like her.
