Nothing a little food and a nice nap can't fix

Summary:

A sick fic.
Tsurugi is sick at home and Tenma comes over to be his caretaker.
That's all really.

Notes:

To be honest, this one is the most filler out of all the Kyouten Week fics.

I know sick fics are like a little classic but I never super duper liked them.
So take that into account when you read this.

Work Text:

Tenma rang the doorbell and waited for an answer. Kyousuke had said he wasn't that sick but he still hoped answering the door wouldn't put too much strain in the forward's body.

The other had sent a text to the group in the morning. Apparently he'd caught a bug over the weekend, probably when him, Yuuichi and his parents went out to eat something to a fancy restaurant Tenma didn't remember the name of. His mother had told him he was a lot better than the night before but that he should still skip school today as he could pass it onto other students.

So Tenma was now here, wearing a face mask for protection to deliver Kyousuke's homework and also help him a bit since his parents were working late and no one wanted him to be alone for so long, especially Tenma.

The door opened after another moment or two. He looked up to see Kyousuke wrapped in a blanket, his face completely red and his eyes showing exhaustion mixed with the gentle joy that was always there when they hung out.

"Hi..."

"Hello Kyousuke, can I come in?"

The forward's voice sounded so raspy, it was clear it wasn't easy to speak without it hurting. He stepped back to let Tenma walk inside before closing the door. The Tsurugi's household was as neat and clean as always.

"Let's get you back to your room, ok? You shouldn't be walking around so much when you are this sick."

"I'm not that sick, it's just a little bug. I'll be fine by tomorrow morning."

"To bed with you mister!"

Tenma grabbed Kyousuke's hand that peaked from under the blanket and began dragging the other upstairs. It's not like he was putting up any resistance but the forward didn't seem to want to get back to his room quickly either by the way he was dragging his feet.

Compared to the rest of the house, Kyousuke's room was a bit more of a mess. The bed was specially bad with the blankets and pillows showing its owner had been rolling around on it, trying to get comfortable and being unable to. There were also a couple napkins on the bed and bedside table, he was glad he brought another packet of them because the box Tsurugi had seemed completely empty.

"Come on, lay down a bit. I'm here now, so if you need anything just ask."

The other didn't say anything beyond a low murmur of 'thanks' as he laid back down onto his side on the middle of the bed.

Tenma quickly got to work. He grabbed the small trash can that was next to the desk and threw all the used papers inside along with the box before pulling out his own new one and putting it down on the bedside. He opened the window slightly when he went to put the trash can back in its spot so the room would get some new fresh air. He made sure Kyousuke was comfortable under his covers before leaving the room, keeping the door open so he would hear it easier if the other needed something or if something happened.

After having visited a couple times, Tenma knew where he could find a clean cloth and the duster. He went to the kitchen then, putting the cloth under the sink's cold water before going back to Kyousuke's room.

"Hey Kyou, could you please get on your back? I know it's not your favorite way to rest but I want to help your fever go down."

The forward groaned but obliged and moved so Tenma could put the cold and wet cloth on his forehead and his expression seemed to relax a bit at the feeling. He opened one of his eyes to look up at him and Tenma, seeing as his smile wouldn't be seen through the face mask, ran a hand through his hair to show his gratitude at the other's compliance. He could watch the way Kyousuke leaned into his hand for hours but he still had a job to do.

"Just keep resting, ok?"

"... Alright."

With one last caress to the other's cheek, Tenma went back to his task. He remembered then about the homework and grabbed a post-it from Kyou's desk to write it on for the other. And then, he went on to dust the room a little bit with the duster. The room wasn't super dusty but with sick people, it was always best for them to be in an enviroment as clean as possible.

"Can you tell me how practice went today?"

Tenma startled a bit despite himself, not having expected Kyousuke to make the attempt to speak unless he really needed something but he was more than happy to oblige while he dusted around the room.

"Of course! Practice went great. Coach Evans paired us in groups of five at random and made us play some quick matches against each other. I was with Hamano, Subaru, Shinsuke and Kirino. It was a bit difficult when we had to go up against Shindou's team because even though they had to put Wanchang as the goalkeeper we were still playing against them plus Kariya, Hikaru and Hayami. Hikaru has been getting very good. You remember that tecnique he'd been wanting to make, he is super close to perfecting it, I'm sure."

"Sounds like it was fun."

"It was! We had such a great time! I think Akane took some photos too, maybe you can ask her to let you see them."

Kyousuke hummed in response and when Tenma turned to look towards him he could see the other was very clearly falling asleep. He chuckled lightly as he placed the duster against the wall before approaching the bed to tuck the other in better and check on the wet cloth on his forehead, he should wet a new one soon before he went to prepare Kyousuke something to eat.

"Sleep well, Kyousuke."

Then, even though he knew he shouldn't, Tenma lowered his mask and pressed a light kiss on the bridge of the other's nose. It seemed to make the other's sleepy mind happy too so, in his opinion, it was worth it.

He grabbed the duster again now that he was done with it to put it back where it was before, grabbed a second cloth and repeated the process of wetting it in the kitchen sink before going back to Kyousuke's room and swapping it with the previous one. He then went to the bathroom to clean his hands and face just to be extra sure he had no bad bacteria on him, swapped his mask and went to the kitchen again but this time to make the other some food.

He admittedly wanted to make the classic chicken soup one would see on Tv but he didn't want the other to eat nothing but that, he wasn't sick enough that he wouldn't be able to consume something bigger than liquid. He was sure they had something good in their fridge to cook up quickly.

Kyousuke would be healthy and back on his feet in no time, he swore.
