December 31st, 2009.
Kylar had decide to throw a huge new years party while his parents were away and had invited everyone in the class. The night had been a long, loud and wild one that was soon going to come to a close as it was gradually coming closer and closer to midnight.
Jecka sat off on the worn down leather couch at the party, cheap crappy 2010 new year’s glasses on top of her head with a red cup full of a smidgen of soda and a wide array of mixed up alcohol, sulking to herself. It was nearing midnight and yet again this year, she would have no one to share a new year’s kiss with. It happened every new year. She ended up sitting on her own with no one hot around her to kiss as everyone else got their new year’s kiss, making her feel like she was a fucking loser. She didn’t want to be alone this year.
She looked to her side to see her friend, Nicole. Sitting alone, new year 2010 glasses on her head with a red cup in her hand, looking all alone and without anyone to kiss. Bingo! Jecka clumsily scooched over towards Nicole, a bit tipsy from the alcohol. “Nicolllee~” she mumbled, laying her head on her shoulder as she tried reaching for the other girl’s hand. “What do you want, Jecka?” she deadpanned. “Be my new years kiss?” she said, her voice had a hint of eagerness, almost bordering on her begging Nicole to do it. “Fuck no.” She quickly responded, taking a swig of alcohol. “Why nootttt??” She whined, slightly spilling her drink on her own jeans. “because I’m not pathetic enough to end up kissing my drunk best friend on new years” she explained, pushing Jecka away from her.
Jecka sat sulking as she mumbled about how much she hated Nicole just loud enough that she could hear. Nicole ignored her taking another long sip of alcohol, hoping it would keep her mind off of everything. Jecka could be so annoying sometimes. Just because she was alone on new years didn’t mean she had to be a bitch about it and drag Nicole down with her. She could easily find a hot dude to kiss on new years, she just didn’t think any of the guys here were good enough for her. Nicole didn’t find any of the guys in her class to be hot. Actually, Nicole didn’t find any guy ever hot. Maybe she just needed to find the right guy. But whoever the ‘right guy’ was, he wasn’t hear tonight. As much as she hated to admit it, Nicole was just as alone as Jecka right now.
The countdown began. 10. 9. Nicole looked around the room at all the other couples. 8. 7. There was no one around to do it with her. 6. 5. She wasn’t going to be alone this year. 4. 3. She looked over at Jecka. 2. She was going to fucking regret this. 1. Nicole grabbed Jecka’s shirt, suddenly pulling her into a kiss.
“HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!”
There was a buzz of excitement around as everyone brought in 2010 together. Nicole’s lips were still pressed into Jecka’s as she gripped the other’s shirt in her balled up fists. Jecka was quick to reciprocate, putting her hands on Nicole face as she deepened the kiss. There mouths tasted strongly like alcohol with a hint of cherry lip balm. It didn’t take long for Jecka to slip her tongue inside her mouth, immediately causing Nicole to come to her senses and pull away from her. There both stared at each other as an awkward silence hung in the air. “We are never going to talk about thus again” Nicole said, wiping the saliva and smudged lip balm from around her mouth, her face feeling warm from the interaction. “Don’t worry Nicole, I probably won’t remember this!” Jecka snickered, laying back on the couch with a content smirk across her face.
Nicole knew that when she went home that night, she would not forget about that moment. In fact, she wasn’t going to forget that for years to come.
