To protect the Otori kingdom!”
That was the sound of the knights who were currently in training. That’s what a princess named Emu would hear every single day. She would always stare out the window, watching the knights and guards train. She especially loved watching a specific blonde knight named Tsukasa Tenma.
“Look at them go at it with the training dolls! It’s a shame that I can’t come down to watch this in person, but it’s better than nothing so wonderhoy!”
Emu kept watching all the knights with endearment in her eyes. She has always wondered what would it be like if she was protecting Tsukasa, She might be considered cool, it all sounded very wonderhoy. But at last, she is just a simple princess.
After about an hour of training, they were all back to their assigned places, and it just so happened that Tsukasa’s assigned place was outside Emu’s bedroom which makes sense as he is her personal knight. Although Emu had already gone to her bedroom a little earlier so that Tsukasa wouldn’t spot her just wandering in the halls unprotected.
When the clock strikes 25:00, Emu notices a shooting star out her window. She knew it was way past her bedtime but she just couldn’t help to make a wish upon the shooting star quietly.
“I wish I could protect my kingdom, just like how Tsukasa protects me.”
A couple of moments after she made her wish, Emu thought she could sleep now but she suddenly felt a tug on her pajamas.
“Emu.”
Emu quickly gets startled, what on earth could be talking to her? Tsukasa was outside her door and she was all alone in her room so what is it?
When Emu turned around, she suddenly saw..a sentient plush rabbit?!
“W-Wha..What are you?!”
Emu quickly covered her mouth since if she yelled any louder, Tsukasa might get into the room and see the sentient plush rabbit and see that she was still awake. Well, she might not get in trouble for the sentient plush but she will for staying up late.
“Don’t be afraid Princess Emu.”
“Well, who are you then?”
“I am Rabbit Kigurumi, I am here to serve you.”
“Serve me? Well, it sounds pretty wonderhoy but I don’t know why you're serving me.”
“Remember that wish?”
“Yep?”
“Well, I will be serving you so that you can protect the kingdom.”
“And how do we do that mister rabbit?”
“Firstly it’s Rabbit Kigurumi and secondly, by this.”
Rabbit Kigurumi suddenly clapped his hands and Emu was enveloped in a bright blue light. She felt her hair becoming longer. Her once-white dress became a white and blue dress, similar to the knight’s uniform. Her shoes became blue heels and rat ears appeared on her head.
“Wah..what happened?”
“Simple answer, you transformed, and now you're a magical girl, more specifically a rat magical girl.”
“Wait hold on! I still have so many questions! Why am I a magical girl? Are there other magical girls like me? What are the conditions of being a magical girl?”
“Well, I can answer a few of those questions. Firstly since you wished to protect the kingdom, becoming a magical girl is the most optimal of solutions. Secondly, there are two other magical girls in the world, the witch magical girl and the vampire magical girl. Thirdly, the only two conditions there are of being a magical girl are that you have to go on missions during the knight and you have to capture the phantom thief”.
“The phantom thief?”
“Yes, the phantom thief known as Amia has been wanted for some time now. Not even the guards can capture her. Everyone in the kingdom is even more on guard when Amia suddenly left a letter in the King’s chair. It reads ‘Dear Otori kingdom, I hope you all have a marvelous time, but just know that it will all end soon~ -Amia’. So far, no one knows what she’s planning on doing”.
Emu thinks about it. Sure, on the one hand, Tsukasa would most definitely scold her for staying up every night, but on the other hand, being a magical girl sounds a little cool and she would be able to protect her kingdom. After some time, Emu made her decision.
“Alright mister rabbit, I’ll become a magical girl. It’ll be super wonderhoy!”
“Excellent, I’ll come back at this time tomorrow.”
And so, Rabbit Kigurumi vanishes and Emu’s clothes become her usual one.
The next day went by quickly, though Emu was anxiously waiting for her mission of capturing Amia. She thinks she’s doing a wonderhoy job at hiding her anxiousness but it appears that someone has caught on to it.
“La da da la da da~”
“Your Highness.”
“Hm? Did you need something, Tsukasa?”
“Well your Highness, this is just an observation but you appear to be nervous. Is something the matter?”
“Nope! Everything is very wonderhoy! What made you think I was nervous about something?”
“Your leg was shaking, you kept swaying in your seat and you kept looking down at the ground.”
“Is that so? Well, maybe it’s just an off day since I feel very wonderhoy!”
“That’s another thing, You're saying ‘wonderhoy’ a bunch today. Are you sure this is just an off day?”
“Yep, I’m sure!”
“Well if you say so, but please remember that if anything is bothering you, you can say it to the staff, okay?’
“Mhm!”
Tsukasa begins to leave and Emu couldn’t help but blush a little. She thinks that she convinced him that everything was normal, but Tsukasa knew her too well to know that she was lying. He knew almost everything about her so he could easily tell when she was lying about stuff.
“Something about Emu today was off, I must investigate further.”
Once the clock struck 25:00 o’clock, Emu was awake in her bedroom, waiting for Rabbit Kigurumi to appear to start her first mission. She waited, and waited, and waited until finally, he appeared.
“Alright then, Princess Emu, ready for your mission?”
“Yes, mister rabbit! It’ll be very wonderhoy!”
As Emu transformed, she suddenly saw her weapon, a spear that’s almost taller than her, she assumed she would get a wand like most magical girls do.
“Why spear?”
“That’s what rat magical girls use, Princess Emu. Now you can head off. If you need any assistance from me, I’ll be in the wand.”
With that, Kigurumi Rabbit suddenly vanishes, leaving Emu to her own devices. She hops out of her bedroom window and heads off. What she wasn’t aware of was that someone was listening to the entire conversation.
“So, Her Majesty was trying to hide that she’s a magical girl. Well, I might have to assist her since I’m unsure how she’ll do in combat.”
Emu was immediately lost, unsure of where to find Amia.
“Mister rabbit should’ve given me a clue on where Amia is..i’ve been running for so long..this is not very wonderhoy…”
Then a miracle happens, she sees a girl in red, Amia, target acquired!
“Wah! She’s here! She’s actually real!”
Emu quickly follows Amia. She sees that she’s going to a famous jewelry shop, probably to steal anything shiny. Emu eventually finds herself in a heavily secured area with a bunch of lasers, in the center was a glass case with a diamond inside.
“Amia! There you are, you not-so-very-wonderhoy thief!”
“Oh, a rat girl~?
“Yes, for it is I..um..i’ll work on the name later but I’m here to capture you!”
“You can’t even think of a name to call yourself, what makes you think you can stop me~?”
Amia begins going through the secured room with ease while Emu was tripping and falling and almost setting off alarms, She then slams her spear on the ground out of frustration. Suddenly a giant blue circle appears on the ground and tiny bear plushies rise from the ground.
“Wah?!”
“Eh?! W-Why are there so many bears?!”
‘...hehehe, I have the right to ‘bear’ arms! Get her!”
The bears instantly began chasing Amia around, dodging all of the lasers.
“Y-You! Well I guess I’ll reveal my trump card! If you capture me, this stranger gets it!
Amia takes out something from her magical duffle bag.
The stranger was none other than Tsukasa Tenma!
“Tsu- a knight?!”
“Yep, I have a knight right in my grasp. So decide, capture me and I blow him up, or don’t capture me and i’ll let him go~”
Before Emu could reply, Amia goes through all the security lasers and takes the diamond from the case. She then sits on top of the case, holding the diamond.
“So, have you decided?~”
